The man says "He has been defending and training the king for the past 500 years now. He should be alive on the green mountain nearby. Not too far from here. If you head south and follow the stream, you should come to a lake. Behind the lake their is the King's road. That should take you to the castle." The man pauses for a second and says "If he isn't there I am sure the king will tell you. He is always welcoming of guests. Especially foreigners!"
" i would certainly love to meet your king and especially Voron. I happen to be an aspiring mage myself." Rhaucred will perform a minor illusion of a stone bird that he takes from his pocket that turns into a real bird and flies away. " ill have to see if i can get a chance to visit.
" Any place a man of skill can earn a little quick cash in this village? Besides chopping wood..." rhaucred glances at his puny arms sadly.
The man laughs and says "Well with those arms I am sure you can clean those dishes. It normally falls to me and some others but I will give you compensation depending on how well you are able to clean them."
Rhaucred is able to clean the dishes perfectly but the man seems to not be impressed with his work. He replies "Well of course! Everyone can make them spotless with a spell, but I suppose you do earn something." Rhaucred earns 2 gold for cleaning the dishes
While cleaning, someone runs in with a pie dish and says "Hurry! We have to mend this. It is Iolena's favorite dish. She needs it to win!" Rhaucred approaches, and with a flick of his hand is able to mend it cleanly together. They are quite impressed with the ease of the mending and as a token, they each tip him an extra gold. Rhaucred earns 3 gold for mending the dish.
Rhaucred casts invisibility and moves on forward to the west and follows it as it moves around the corner to the north. He sees another large, cavernous room with two enclaves on the east side of the room. Skeletons hang from chains and manacles in the south-east enclave, and iron chains hang from the ceiling in the north-east enclave over a large pile of bones.
As he crouches around the room he sees a set of rocks that look out of place. On further inspection, he finds that is is a chest that someone attempted to hide with an illusion.
A circle of tall stones stands in the center of the room. There is a kobold that is stacking stones next to the pillars. On the east side of the room, there is a collection of hides made into a tent like structure. Rhaucred looks and is unable to see if there is anything inside.
Rhaucred has been gone about 10 minutes at this point.
Upon his return to the dwarven castle forge, Rhaucred hears for a second the voice from inside his head. It is a voice he has not heard in a while, but he recognizes it immediately from the time when he first received his powers. Excusing himself, he finds a secluded room and says out loud "Hello? Let us talk. I think we have many things to discuss."
Silence... Rhaucred began questioning if he even heard it at all and as he began to walk away the voice begins to speak to him in a clear tone saying "Agreed. Well, you asked to talk to me, what do you want to know?"
You seem to have a connection to this realm. What are you? And furthermore, what are we? You have granted me powers I never knew and taught me to use them, but why? What do you want? Is there something I need to do here? And just this morning, it was like a door opened inside of me that I never knew was there and yet has been all along. Did you do that?
*Rhaucred casts guidance again.*
It feels different than the magic you have granted me and yet i am just as clueless. Teach me. Guide me.
The voice replies "You already know who I am. The runestone has my seal on it. My name is Voron. I was the Archmage for the King that used to reside in this castle. Oh, how so much has changed." There is a brief pause but then the voice continues "When I was first bound to you, my power were originally melded with your physical form. It seems that the inaccurate placement of the runestone has released the seal that imprisoned me to the statue, but did not grant my freedom back. So it seems that this body has become my prison. I fear from that time that you almost died. Currently my spirit is bound to you, if you die I might perish as well. I have given this some thought and have decided to grant you more of my power but I do this only for my survival."
" I appreciate the help in getting us out of the sticky situations then. Your power was sorely needed. Is there any way I might be able to release you? You said you used to serve in this castle? Was that long ago? What had happened?"
The voice lets out a laugh "My aren't you the inquisitive one. For now, I am not sure if there is a way to free me. We can explore this together though. I was the archmage for a stubborn king. It was a long time ago, probably 50 or 60 years on this plane's time. Although in your plane's time it was probably close to 1000 years. The state that this castle is in is part of my doing... Seeing it like this makes me realize that prison is a fitting crime for me."
"The king is long gone then... we may still find a way to free you, what did you do to be imprisoned so? How did they imprison such a powerful archmage as yourself?
"I am not sure. My memories are still quite hazy, but they are slowly returning to me. I was able to remember my name from that runestone you found. From what I remember, I was tricked by a green dragon.." For a brief moment Rhaucred feels a sense of anger from welling up inside of him but he is not sure where it came from or why. Then the voice continues "But that is all I can recall for now. I will keep trying to remember but if you find anything of mine, that may help me remember more."
" Papers are probably all long gone, but it can't hurt to look. I'm sure he will let me continue looking around in there." Rhaucred will make his way back to tge library to look if the documents might have survived.

The heated caves scenario
Rhaucred casts invisibility and moves on forward to the west and follows it as it moves around the corner to the north. I'll keep moving further into the cave looking for who might have done all of this.
Perception 6
As Rhaucred enters the next room he sees
A circle of tall stones stands in the center of the room. There is a kobold that is stacking stones next to the pillars. On the east side of the room, there is a collection of hides made into a tent like structure. Rhaucred looks and is unable to see if there is anything inside.
Rhaucred has been gone about 10 minutes at this point.
Rhaucred will return to the party. I'm going to go ahead and tell them about the chest and everything I have seen.

"I always kept a set of written materials in the library. I believe it is where the Forgemaster is now."
" Papers are probably all long gone, but it can't hurt to look. I'm sure he will let me continue looking around in there." Rhaucred will make his way back to tge library to look if the documents might have survived.
