Zane once again stops his playing for a moment and shouts out to everyone who can hear, "Use holy water or radiant energy against them!"
He repositions himself to be able to cover as many people with his Countercharm playing as possible and while doing so glances across the horizon to gauge how long until sunrise.
Aaand then he starts playing Countercharm once again.

Killian grins mirthlessly at having cut off the vampire's soliloquy. "Death comes to us all," she says, wrestling her body around in the vampire's iron grip, and striking again.
Action: She will strike twice with her (still going!) magical longsword, and if one hits, expend a 1st level spell slot to Divine Smite for radiant+ damage.
15 to hit, for 13 magical slashing damage
22 to hit, for 11 magical slashing damage If either hits, she will spend a 1st level spell slot for Divine Smite to add 2d8 radiant + 1d8 against undead = 16 radiant damage
Notes: I am assuming that he has her shield arm, since grappled is not incapacitated, and she can still attack, just not move. Also, all my research suggests that radiant damage from Divine Smite is still an Oathbreaker thing, because light is not necessarily holy, just as darkness is not necessarily unholy. Also, friends, undead, and fiends in 10' are +3 to damage, and friends only +3 to Saves, too.

For Zane:
The attack came midway through the last watch of the night, so sunrise is likely around an hour or two away.
Zane continues to strum, turning his eyes to the horizon. The mirth on the vampire's face fades as Killian cuts across his chest. With one arm still wrapped by Gruun's, his other arm becomes a meager shield for Killian's wrath as she sends glowing radiant energy through her sword, tearing through undead sinew. His face a mask of rage, the vampire's recovering wounds reopen, smoking and sizzling. He roars in the paladin's face, and vanishes into a mist that trails over the side of the ship into the darkness.
The second vampire bites down into the back of the restrained crewman's neck, then dodges the cutlass of another crewman, grabbing his arm and wrenching it forward before falling over him as well, teeth tearing into the man's face.
OOC: Hox and Gruun have not acted yet this turn. Once they have acted I will advance.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Hox looks to the party, "Stabbers not sharp enough. They heal too fast for Hox to stab." Hox moves to close or lock the hatch to decks. "Do we run? Hox want to, they not normal humans. Eat others like savage clans."
(If there's no lock, he'll try to push some carts on top of the hatch.)
OOC: Botting Killian with movement toward the vampire and dodge.

Gruun leads the charge toward the remaining vampire, using the momentum from his long reach to tear two meager lines across the side of the vampire. Hox flies past, dragging a crate over the hatch that leads below deck as another brilliant white glow emanates from the cracks in the wood. A hiss is accompanied by mist slowly rolling out of the side of the ship.
Zane and Killian advance cautiously toward the vampire, while it matches Gruun's fury with pure speed, grabbing his arm and wrenching him forward, throwing two punches at his face while holding him firmly. One connects, dealing 2.5 bludgeoning damage. Snarling, he pulls again, forcing the barbarian downward, and bites down into his neck, dealing 5.5 piercing damage and 10.5 necrotic damage.
The vampire's wounds heal through the energy drawn from Gruun, but nonetheless, the bugbear doesn't seem to even react. Throwing a worried glance between the advancing Killian, and another white glow from below decks, the vampire locks eyes with each member of the party. "I don't know who you are, but we know your blood. We will find you, and make a gift of you to the Count for this insult!" Shifting into the form of a bat, the vampire flits away.
The few remaining crewmen on deck practically fall over in relief of their survival. The crate blocking the deck's hatch prevents any other occupants from emerging. The sounds of combat from below soon settle, and moments later the hatch to the deck begins to slam upward into the crate. "Is anyone alive up there? If there's anyone left, it's Captain Thitcher. We've cleared them out!"
OOC: Each character has received 2,500 XP for withstanding the attack.
Killian watches the bat, does it flit away in the direction of the other boat? Are there other bats, clouds of mist, or the like also moving away from the boat (say from the hold)? Then she will cautiously shift the crate, sword raised and Ready.
It is almost imperceptible; one would have to be looking for the specific scenario to spot it, and Killian does. Within the light fog surrounding the ship are spots of mist moving with intent toward the direction of the Raven's Claw. The bat had flown away in this same direction.
Once the crate is shifted away, the hatch slowly opens. Captain Thitcher and four members of his crew step out into the brisk night. "Groups of three, search the quarters top to bottom!" Thitcher calls out orders as he surveys the scene, then steps toward the party.
"Looks like we found your thieves. What do you want to do? I need to take stock of our dead and injured, first, then I stand ready. The sun will be up soon, lucky for us," he says somberly, holding up a weathered symbol hanging from a pendant you've not seen until now. "Those things tore through us...can't have more than a dozen crew left. This ancient symbol is all that kept us afloat. It's been in my family for generations...didn't take it seriously until tonight. Whatever power it held is gone now, though, it cracked as we chased the last of them away."
OOC: How does each character respond? Your long rest was not interrupted for longer than an hour, so it can still be continued and the benefits gained.
"Need to go back to dry land. Find better stabbers or things that hurt them better. Hox think we ask clan man for good ones, cause Hox stab hole into human but it close." Hox says with his limited vocabulary.
Zane will go to Gruun and say, "Mind if I see if you've been infected with anything by that bite?" And if he doesn't object then he will ritual-cast Identify on him (and/or a medicine check?)
"We will shred their ship from around them. Either the sun, the water, or we will end this." Gruun allows Zane to examine his wounds. "I've had worse from fighting for fun."
Killian looks back at the group, from her watch in the direction of the ship they are pursuing. "I fear if we go back for stakes and holy water, we will lose them for good. Dawn comes soon, and I agree with Gruun. If need be we will pull the decks up plank by plank and let sunlight or running water do our work for us."

"I find myself agreeing," Thitcher nods, "We are lucky they were unprepared. Were they less confident they might have attacked in the middle of the night, but now we find ourselves with an opportunity to catch them while the sun is at its brightest. I will push through the night. Prepare yourselves. Get some sleep if you still need it."
The captain turns to find a crewman, holding an arm limply at his side. "Eleven of us, sir. That's all that's left."
"That is enough. Gather the bodies. Throw them overboard," Thitcher says sternly.
"Sir?" the sailor questions.
"Are you questioning me? Do you think I want to return to their families empty handed? Are you suggesting that we allow them to rise as those things and slay those of us that remain? Throw them overboard!" the captain shouts.
As the sky begins to grow lighter, the remaining crew of The Flying Mermaid set to laying their fellow sailors to rest.
OOC: Assuming Gruun and Hox are simply going to sleep as well. No watch order being set but in this case it doesn't matter.
In your exhausted state, the sound of the crew frantically unfurling sails and barking orders isn't enough to keep you from returning to your slumber. Less than two hours later, the heat of the morning sun wakes you, feeling much better than the night before. The Flying Mermaid is sailing full tilt toward the black ship, which is no longer on the horizon but merely a few hundred yards away, its sails clear in sight.
"Ah, good, I was on my way to wake you," Captain Thitcher says as Zane rejoins the others on the deck. "Their ship is moving, but we are still gaining ground. We've also spotted another ship in the distance. We're not far enough into the Trackless Sea for that to be an odd coincidence, but it might be something to watch for."
OOC: Each character has gained the benefits of a long rest.
