Or Brother Brozak and I can just swat it out with our draconic and/or Infernal hands. We are two arcane and three divine casters, and also thinking back to my school daze[sic]and I cannot think of a spell to extinguish flames beyond a candle. Seems like an obvious cantrip someone ought to have invented by now. Brother Yaro shouldn't have to create water. What good is magic anyway?
While fetching sand and/or swatting fire, Red will use Thaumaturgy to dim some flames, just to prove how stupid some magic is

Seeing the bustle of a few of the party at the burning hut, Zagrot looks confused. "Why kill fire? Gnolls no live inside anymore. It is ugly house anyways. It is stink of death."
He inspects his javelin and walks it to his pack, lashing it back into place. Then he points to the sky above the conflagration, where a plume of smoke is building. "Maybe fire bring more gnolls. More heads for to bust so I and Brozak finish game." He smiles and looks slyly towards the paladin. "Brozak win now by one!"
The orc stares at the flames, considering carefully. "I think we no kill. Fire is too big. Only big rain kill big fire. If we wait, we watch fire to die by self, no help. We no wait long. Fire like dry wood and grass. It eat fast."
He picks up his shield, pats his side to make sure his crowbar is in place, and walks away, to the north, leaving his pack by the tree. "I watch for more gnolls to come," he says over his shoulder. "I think maybe they want for fire to die, too?"
OOC:
Zagrot is going to stand watch on the NW perimeter, towards the direction we were heading before the battle.
Unless it's completely aflame, Abner opens the door and takes a look inside. Anything in there of potential interest? Anything within easy reach to grab and run with?
His mania subsided, he glances worriedly at the fire, but is more interested in what he can quickly salvage.
Using his magic and his bucket of sand, Red soon manages to put out the fire which hadn't spread much farther than the corner of the small hut. Brozak takes the time spent to heal Yaro's wounds, while Therne fails to sniff out any sources of fresh water on the island.
As Zagrot stands watch towards the north-west, Abner hurriedly ducks into the smouldering hut. He sees little more than rags and old discarded crab shells, but a murky old bottle grabs his attention. Snatching it from beneath an old, rotting fur, he exits the hut and uncorks it to unfurl a hastily scribbled note.
Warning! Our town has been invaded by gnolls under the command of a pirate. I have taken refuge aboard an empty merchant ship. I fear the crew are already dead. It its surely a matter of time before the gnolls and their tentacled box find me. Please send help!
The note appears in good condition, but you can see that the bottle it came in was time-stamped over fifty years ago.
The fire is now under control and extinguished, and Zagrot cannot see any evidence of further gnoll bands nearby.

After a brief pant, Red will shake out his bucket, go to retrieve his pack, and check the clearing south of the hut. He'll check the remains to see if anything interesting was stuck to the skelly-gnolls, and especially around g11 for his sling bullet
Investigation 8
A tentacle-ly pirate box sounds unpleasant at least. The birdfolk would have mentioned a town - it is either elsewhere or re-taken by the forest long ago, perhaps. Or underground? Would you recognize this handwriting, Lord Ebokk?
The point near the shipwreck is about 300 yards. Shall we press on while our Sister Druid is still striped?

" 'Our town'? Is there a town here? Who wrote this note? I'm confused!" "Also - these were zombie gnolls. Somebody reanimated them. Do zombies eat crabs?" "Also - an empty merchant ship? I thought that was supposed to be Flindbar's wrecked ship?" "I suppose we should go check out that ship, next, whatever it is, unless somebody has a better idea?"
I do not think Detect Magic is worth trading too much for, Sister - only some of our threats are magic and there are usually other ways of finding the trouble. Ack, it is odd talking this way, but what an amazing skill you have, my friend. One of us should learn to "talk" in return.

Yaro closes his eyes as the Paladin's divine magic mends his bruised ribs. He takes a moment to steady himself, before returning to his feet.
"My thanks to you, Brozak. Bahamut smiles upon both of us today." He pauses to listen to the remainder of the conversation.
"Unfortunately, today I appear to be very unprepared for the task at hand. Though Valkur will allow me to detect magic, my meditations this morning did not prepare me for such a circumstance. I shall rectify this in the future." He ruminates for another moment before continuing, "It appears to me that there is only a single path forward, and that leads to the scuttled ship. I think it would do well to make haste, the presence of the undead bodes ill."

Abner
"Sounds good! You guys ready? Let's see what's ahead!"
Unless there are objections from the others, Abner will gesture the group southward to traverse the thin band of forest south of the clearing, where he'll quietly climb a suitable tree near the tree line to have a better look beyond the tall grass to the south.
Stealth: 16
• What's the beach look like? Are there crabs about? • Can he see the wreck? Anything notable from this perspective? • Abner casts a nervous glance at the tall peak to the southwest, which makes him nervous. It's an oddly prominent landmass. What can he see at the top?
It seems we are agreed. With the open grassland, not much chance of stealth anyhow, so lets head straight to the closest shore - along the bay to scout for a way over. Let us be careful to keep and eye on that western promontory as well. After Master Abner gets a look we'll have a decent idea of the best path
Red will propose Therne and Zagrot in the lead (good at charging), Brozak and Yaro as rearguard. Red'll pluck a little surf music as we go (like this only slower: Miserlou)
