Brozak - Red Dragonborn Paladin, lvl 2, Never Winter, Seldom Spring
Miscellany! that is the word and the concept. What is the difference between heirloom and miscellany? The book, the writing materials, this red purse - that is salvage from the fire. This sword I carry - I'll not keep it in storage, for if you find a silver sword without werewolves behind it - well, the author of the tale needs to go back to school. But if it belonged to someone's great grandmother, far be it from me to keep it from them. But somewhere in the middle is the line between legitimately ours and not.
Maybe I am too much a romantic. And prone to false theories as well. I guessed we would rescue the Redmanes, not re-kill them, and hoped for the reward of grateful lovers.
And honestly, though it saddens me, the Redmanes' alleged family in Waterdeep have not attempted to find their fate for "many" years? For me, that tends to move the line. And I interpret Lady Redmane's final vision and Sune's blessing as some kind of endorsement.
I feel guilt about profiting from other's loss, but I cannot think of a remedy beyond giving back to the community. Even if just from my share I'll build a shrine in Seldom Spring.

The five of you spend the day making the long trek back to Seldom Spring, trading tales and discussing the future of your group.
As it approaches late evening, the familiar sight of the Seldom Spring Inn comes into view. You each make your way inside and see that the taproom is lit with orange candlelight and a number of patrons are here enjoying a few drinks. Jambiya darts between your legs as you make your way over to where Dirk rests against a table, looking up at the trophies adorning his walls with a smile.
After he greets you with enthusiasm and handshakes, he listens to your tale of the house of Redmane. He is dismayed by what transpired and is especially concerned about the mirror he sold Lord Redmane seeming to be the cause. Brunthor makes his way over, peg leg clattering against the floor, and he and Dirk muse if Daratin knew more about the nature of the ornament than he claimed. At mention of the diary entries, Dirk asks if he can take them, in order to pass them onto Redmane's distant relatives - and is willing to offer 1gp per entry to thank you for retrieving them.
You spend the rest of the night and the following two days around the small settlement, resting and testing your newly acquired capabilities. Travellers come and go, including merchants from Neverwinter through which you can sell any goods that you need to be rid of, or buy most of what you may need.
[OoC]: You all have two days of downtime that you can spend doing any of the downtime activities listed in XGtE (you should all have access to this book through content sharing) or anything else that you can think of within reason. You can sell any trinkets for the price described, or any mundane gear for half the listed price (let me know any exchanges that you wish to make). You do not need to spend the downtime as a group, but you likely meet up each night to drink and eat. Describe what you want to do over the two days in general or specific terms. Tomorrow (or possibly tonight, if everybody gets a post in before I go to bed), the next adventure hook begins.

Abner wants to hang on to the dagger, and to the two revivify potions (which he's willing to give up to anyone in the party who wants one), but is happy to unload the rest. He doesn't feel comfortable taking money from Dirk for the diary entries, though - he can have those, as far as Abner's concerned.
But he'll accept that plate of candied turnips – or whatever those were - from Jambiya, though. And then he plans to wander over to the Hunting Lodge to see Maldorn and Juglut.
Still concerned about his finances, over the next couple of days Abner will try to scrounge up some mending work about town, while keeping his ears open for opportunities and interesting gossip. He'll spend as much time around the Hunting Lodge as he can, too, picking Maldorn and Juglut's brains and lending them a hand where he can.
I am guessing the casket and altar are non-trinket? ]
[OoC]: Anything not useful to adventuring is a trinket - so the casket, altar and amulet are included. Although the amulet could be used as a holy symbol if anybody wants to take a level as a Sune worshipper. Also, I'm assuming it's a typo, but there isn't 8pp worth of diary pages. For the sake of convenience, I'll tell you that the casket is worth 100gp including the key, and the shrine 50gp.
[ooc sorry, pp is an abbreviation for pages - 8 pages, 8gp = 80 silver is the 16 silver each in my post]

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Therne is especially interested in how Dirk reacts to the mirror, and finds the fact that he's willing to pay for the journal scraps a little odd.
Insight check on Dirk: 7 (passive: 13)
"If there is a temple to Sune in the area, perhaps we could sell it to them at a discount, or trade it for some other items they may have to hand, such as healing potions," Therne suggests. She would also like to read the book on pirates before they sell it, to see if there's anything in it about the woman she met, Orlanda Oceansong, or even anything that just sounds like what she talked about.
Otherwise, she's going to spend the next few days experimenting with her new Wild Shape ability, trying out different animals for furtive reconnaissance especially -- bears or wolves might be better to wait and try a little further away from townsfolk.
Red has cleaned up and changed into town clothes - he's not without vanity. Working on a swagger like David Tennant playing Crowley in Good Omens.
Brother Brozak and Sister Adri haven't expressed an opinion, but I'm inclined to sell the items. I like Lady Wildcloak's idea quite a lot, but (1) it'd take a pretty major temple to handle this kind of investment, even at a discount - not only the money, but protection from theft for the rest of time. and (b) we don't really need healing potions - with 4 of us healers, we don't even have to maximize all our own healing potential all the time. And on the gripping hand, I kinda trust the merchants to get the items to Sune worshipers naturally. It's the obvious market for them. This town would be better served by a simple place to worship than a rich man's sacramentals. Any strong objections..?
[OOC These total 350gp, 70 gold each. You should also have previously added 16 gold + 16 silver from the initial trinket sales and Dirk, and 4gp + 4sp from the cash off Redmane zombie corpse. Total haul for chapter 1 each: 90gold, 20 silver; plus Redmane's rapier and dagger, 2 potions of Sune's Kiss. I line out the treasure on the google doc once we use, distribute, etc]
Red will arrange with Dirk to play a show if he wants it, raise the drink sales a bit to maximize good graces.
Red wants to upgrade to studded leather, get a scabbard for Redmane's rapier, and sell his short sword and old leathers. (edit) and get some cook's utensils
He will check what the locals use for a place of worship and prayer, thinking about what would improve things here. He will try to engage Dirk about thieves' tools:
Dirk my friend, a word away from general ears. I am an honest bard, but as such I'm the nearest thing to a rogue in our little squad. A know a bit of something from my sordid past, and in our travels we may come across traps and unreasonably secured doors and such. In the memory of your friend Hanjo, if you could let me know if a opportunity to discretely obtain tools for the nimble-fingered?
OOC: There was also some gold from the Kenku: 1 gp, 23 sp; or 6 sp 6 cp each. Also, how much do we deduct from our funds for living costs during these days off?
[OoC]: If you choose to stay at the Seldom Spring, it costs 2gp per day (comfortable lifestyle). If you stay at the Hunting Lodge, it costs 2sp per day (poor lifestyle).
Abner
Abner spends time around Seldom Spring flexing his new magic and using it for the good of the locals, mending things that need his arcane touch. He manages to make 3 gold pieces per day from the number of jobs he finds scattered around - including helping Brunthor fix the strange clicking sound in his metal leg. He spends the time with Brunthor listening to a few tales, and finds out that their previous companion Hanjo was killed by a cunning beholder during their foray into an ancient vault.
Therne
It appears that Dirk is genuinely concerned that he is partly to blame for the fall of Redmane. His offer to pay for the diary pages was more as a thank you for retrieving them than anything nefarious. Therne spends the following two days practising her new forms, whilst intermittently reading the book on Aatush the Cruel. There's no mention on Oceansong, and the book is primarily an account of the horrific deeds of the rakshasa pirate.
Brozak
Spending time around the quiet settlement, Brozak can't find much in the way of healing work. In his off time, he spends a few hours praying to Bahamut. On the second day, a young farmhand is brought to the inn after being kicked in the head by a horse. Brozak, being the nearest adventurer, offers his healing magic. The boy is patched up and the locals praise Brozak for his work, with their favour being offered if he ever needs help ploughing a field, picking tomatoes or shoeing a horse.
Red
Through playing his upbeat show again, Red manages to make a total of 45 silver and 11 copper pieces from donations - as well as a few free drinks. Dirk expresses his satisfaction at the tiefling's performance and offers a night's free rooming at the inn. As the second day rolls by and Red makes purchases and sales to the few merchants who pass through the settlement, his attention turns back to the subject of thieves' tools. Asking Dirk about the situation, the grizzled adventurer can offer little more than he previously did, but he does suggest speaking to Ekemos - the regular tiefling patron of the inn. Red recognises the tiefling from before their departure to the Neverwinter Wood. He dresses in fine clothing, has pale skin and sports a pair of tall spiralling horns. His demeanour is mysterious, and he has a fondness for wine and games of skill and intellect. His loftiness matches his attire, but he seems capable and aware of his surroundings. At Red's gentle line of questioning, Ekemos produces a small leather pouch which he slides along the table and offers for 40gp.
[OoC]: For the sake of brevity, I don't want to get too engrossed in conversations during the downtime as I'd like to move on to the next chapter. Just let me know in a sidebar if you want to take his offer. You'll get another chance to speak to Ekemos too, so don't worry about us skipping over it.
On the third morning of your return to the settlement, you all sit down in the taproom to enjoy a well-earned breakfast of bacon and eggs, brought over by the lovely goblin girl, Jambiya.
“Friends,” Dirk greets you as he approaches your table, a finely dressed young dwarf at his side. “Meet Ebokk Lockforge,” he says, introducing the youthful fellow, who greets you with an enthusiastic dwarven salute.
“Now I'm sure you've all heard of my early adventures exploring the Sea of Swords,” Dirk continues, taking a seat and motioning for his companion to do likewise. “Well Ebokk here is looking for a group of adventurous types, and my crazy old captain, who I'm amazed is still alive, recommended my services. Now, I can't just go rushing off to sea every time the old coot sends someone my way, but I was thinking that maybe you could.” He pauses for a moment, seemingly juggling his thoughts, and you notice Ebokk fidgeting in his chair. “Well not every time,” Dirk clarifies, “but maybe this time. Anyway, Ebokk has a ship, a crew, and a destination. He just needs help finding his father.”
“Yes, yes,” agrees Ebokk, nodding enthusiastically. “I have evidence that my family's ancestral beard ring was worn by a notorious pirate going by the name of Captain Flindbar,” he declares. “And I have recently learned the location of Flindbar's wrecked ship,” he hastily continues. “It is run aground by a small island in the Sea of Swords,” he concludes.
“So what do you say?” asks Dirk. “You're not a real adventurer until you've voyaged out to sea and come back laden with pirate treasure,” he states with a broad smile. “Oh yes,” Ebokk adds. “Any treasure we find is yours. I only seek news of my father, and to reclaim my family's beard ring, which is my birthright.”
“Sounds like an amiable arrangement to me,” concludes Dirk as he gets to his feet. “More drinks anyone?”
As Dirk leaves towards the bar, Ebokk turns to your group and removes his hat, unveiling a shaved head covered with runic tattoos that was previously hidden. "Unless you've any questions, we'll head off in the next hour. I have a ship waiting in a small bay 10 miles west of here ready to sail as soon as we board."
[OoC]: If you choose to stay at the Seldom Spring, it costs 2gp per day (comfortable lifestyle). If you stay at the Hunting Lodge, it costs 2sp per day (poor lifestyle).

Abner tears off to the local general merchant (what's in Seldom Spring again?) to spend his new riches on some fishing tackle and a whistle.
Kul'ra, the bronze dragonborn at the Welcome Exchange, is more than happy to provide fishing tackle, bait and a signal whistle for 11 silver pieces. The goods are brought to you by Aseid, the young Calishite assistant, who chuckles at your excitement as you purchase the items.

[ooc This is an increase over page one? or is it including other expenses?]
...Ekemos produces a small leather pouch which he slides along the table and offers for 40gp...
Red will take the offer - he knows it is high (he used to be a criminal) but doesn't see much alternative. Besides, being robbed by a thief while buying thief's tools is the kind of irony that's worth a few coins [ooc I assume by citing brevity you mean that this includes negotiation]

[OoC]: Total living expenses including equipment maintenance etc. And yes, Ekemos knows the value of a good set of thieves' tools and knows that he's the only one around who can procure them. The studded leather and scabbard you can pick up for 45gp total. You can sell your old armour and weapon for 10gp total.

Abner
"Yes! Let's go to the ocean! Will we become pirates, also?"
Abner tears off to the local general merchant (what's in Seldom Spring again?) to spend his new riches on some fishing tackle and a whistle.
"Well I hadn't planned on robbing anybody on the way..." Ebokk looks at the half-elf with incredulous confusion as he hops out of his chair and leaves the inn. "He was joking, right?"
