Zagrot perks up and squints in response to Abner's hushed speech. Then he draws his head back and smiles. "Ungh," he grunts, elbowing Brozak and raising his shield in the direction of the enemy. "Abiner see bone-gnolls. I count ten to see. We make game, you and I? Who bust more gnoll heads?"
Yaro shakes his head slowly, those paying attention could see the faintest trace of anger flit across the tortle's face for the briefest moment.
"These creatures are... unnatural. They are an affront to the order of the world, and must be destroyed."
Yaro takes a deep breath, steadying himself.
"It seems we have the advantage. We should press our attack before they have reached us." He begins gesturing in the air, carving symbols in the wind with his claw, "Let Valkur's hand guide our strikes."
Casting Bless on Zagrot, Brozak, and Abner. ((Add 1d4 to all attack rolls and saving throws))
[OoC]: Characters with a yellow glow are blessed. I might make the glow a little thinner on the next update, as it looks quite obtrusive now I can see it outside of my map software. Also, the group of 4 gnolls on the right are moving towards the camp, so will have shifted by the next update.
(ooc also remember Yaro has Bardic insp +1d6 one roll)
[OoC]: With that being a one time bonus (unlike bless, which lasts a minute), I didn't think it was worth creating a new visual identifier for it. Whoever has it will just need to remember.
*Yes, I can reach that one, or possibly the one by the fire pit,* Therne replies. *We should strike now before the groups meet, surprise as many as we can. If these are undead, I don’t know if we can question them, but we might try with one.*
OOC: If none of this is difficult terrain/trees in the way, I think Therne could reach gnoll 9 with the tiger’s movement of 40, allowing someone else with her to get gnoll 10, if desired, but I want to be sure that’s correct.
[OoC]: Since everybody except Nero has posted a response to that map; I'm gonna say that unless your next post is some kind of action, the two groups will meet.

[OoC]: It's not difficult terrain, but those are indeed trees that you can't move through. Moving through Red would count as a single square of difficult terrain. She can reach enemy 9, landing in h/i 10&11, but both ways would trigger an opportunity attack from enemy 10 unless she managed to roll a stealth check high enough to trigger a surprise round. If she does this, I'll roll a stealth check for everybody to see if they can take part in the surprise round too.

"The most important step a person can take is always the next one." -Dalinar Kholin; Oathbringer
Zagrot has been close to Brozak this whole time, eyes moving between the two groups of bone-gnolls.
Seeing his own front ranks finally poising to strike, he mutters something to himself in Orcish, slips his crowbar into its loop, and gently lowers his pack to the ground. After carefully sliding a javelin from its tethered cluster on the side of his pack, he crouches down slightly behind his shield, creeps forward a few steps, and waits, his eyes locked onto the right-hand enemies.
As Red signals his readiness, Therne will slink forward through the tree, staying as stealthy as she can, and then strike out at gnoll 10 with a pounce attack:
Claw attack: Attack: 23 Damage: 8 slashing
If that hits, then if target fails DC 13 STR save, bonus attack: Bite attack: Attack: 23 Damage: 6 piercing
Tiger-Therne bursts from the trees in a full sprint towards the camp, leaping through the air and landing paws first onto the unsuspecting skeleton. Her full weight smashes it into the ground, where she quickly clamps her jaws around the decaying throat of her prey and rips its head free from its spine. Ebokk runs forward from the trees with his shield high, staying close to the massive feline.
Red then takes advantage of the confusion to focus his line of sight onto another of the undead, flinging a pebble and cracking the jaw clean in two of the unsuspecting target.
Throughout the exchange, the skeletal gnolls have made no sound other than the rattling of their shambling movements.
Combat (Surprise Round)
Initiative:
Abner: 12
Brozak: 18
Ebokk: 19
Enemies: 18
Red: 7
Therne: 6
Yaro: 20
Zagrot: 15
[OoC]: Everybody except for Red and Therne gets a free round before the initiative order begins properly, assuming that you were planning a simultaneous ambush.
Order of Initiative: Yaro, Ebokk, Brozak, Enemies, Zagrot, Abner, Red, Therne.
Zagrot raises his spear into the air and charges through the trees towards the enemy. "Gruumsh! Gruumsh! Gruumsh!" he howls as he goes, baring his teeth like a wild animal. Taking a final few lumbering steps, he hurls the javelin at the nearest gnoll, repeating his battlecry as it traces its slow arc through the air.
He veers left and sidesteps to a tree, putting his back to Ebokk and Therne, and draws his crowbar from its loop. With a primal shout, he begins banging the weapon on his crude, handmade shield, preparing for the counterattack.
OOC:
Zagrot will move to n-9, throw his javelin at gnoll 2, then use his free Interact action to draw his crowbar.
Javelin attack, with Bless: Attack:2 + 19 Damage: 5
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Seeing Therne make her move, Yaro moves more quickly than one would expect. He begins tracing his claw through the air again, before extending his arm towards the encroaching undead threat. "Strength of the winds, strike you down!"
Casting Sacred Flame on gnoll 9, 3 radiant damage on a failed DC13 DEX save. Moving to M-11
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Zagrot's javelin sails into the gnoll and buries into its exposed scapula, shattering it and buckling its arm as it makes its way to the camp.
Abner suddenly sprints up, grinning madly, and unleashes a horrific gout of flame towards the grouped up gnolls, charring their bones black and scorching away the ligaments and rotting tendons that once held them together.
Yaro flits over to the chaos where Therne, Ebokk and Red stand - calling upon the divine favour of Valkur to burn one of the isolated gnolls with divine radiance and searing the filthy fur that hangs from its frame.
Brozak raises his warhammer and charges into the fray with Brozak and Abner, yelling a battle cry to Bahamut as he moves.
Once the ambushers have made their move, the gnolls that survive begin to bay, howl and laugh maniacally despite their lack of sufficient anatomy. Ebokk takes the opportunity to swing around Therne and plant his warhammer into the skull of one of the howling gnolls.
Ebokk Attack vs. Enemy (8): 19 Damage: 3
[OoC]: I hope you all don't mind but I'm now rolling saving throws outside of this site as it makes it quicker for me to do so rather than having to go back and re-edit my posts 3 or 4 times to see how it affected combat. All of the enemies failed their saves aside from gnoll 2, which was still killed due to Zagrot's well placed javelin. Dreak, your spell has a range of 60 ft., so you would need to move before the spell was cast (you were 65 ft. away). Additionally, Ebokk occupied M11 at the time of you turn, so I moved you to M12. Minor things, but I wanted to let you know to avoid confusion.
Order of Initiative: Yaro, Ebokk, Brozak, Enemies, Zagrot, Abner, Red, Therne.
"Ho-ho!" Zagrot bellows from afar after the flames of Abner's spell clears. "Abiner steal our gnolls, Soup-brother! Gnoll count still is zero and zero!"
Returning his attention to the battlefield, he surveys the remaining targets.
OOC:
edit: Just corrected Zagrot's statement because Zagrot's player was in a hurry at work when he posted, and didn't realize that "still killed due to Zagrot's well placed javelin" meant that it was Abner's spell that still ultimately killed the gnoll when it took half spell damage, and not the javelin.
