Seeing the rest of the group move across the drawbridge, Zook also walks forwards staying close to Hawk. (Stealth 5 Perception 12) ...and apparently trips and stumbles in the process.
Crossing the bridge you see doors to the watchtowers, one of which is open and the other is not. To your right is a farm, which looks partially destroyed by some large (3ft diameter) rocks. To your left is the temple, with the bell ringing and the doors wide open. Straight ahead at the end of the path you see it opens up into a larger area, the village square, and even with your limited view of it from this distance you can still see a couple of these large rocks embedded into the ground.
The temple is dedicated to Lathander and Mielikki (Dawn and Forests respectively). Looking into the door you see some benches, a pulpit, 4 large stained glass windows (birth, dawning sun, trees, unicorn) and a half open door. No sign of people though. The bell (which can be seen in the steeple) is ringing constantly
Hawk watches Mandaway as he approaches the temple, and follows slowly in his tracks.
Fully alert, and ready to draw his swords or his bow at any second.
I have this strange feeling that something more than just Goblins are at play here.. this seems like too much for just a simple band of Goblin raiders. They must have some small army to do this much damage.. or something worse. I kind of brush off the thought, and say to myself:
Maybe this is just how the townsfolk decorate... with big boulders...
After entering the temple, I sneak up to the half open door and check what’s on the other side of that one.
Another Stealth check (if necessary): 25
Also Perception if that is useful: 6
Also, I’m trying to picture the layout a bit better. We came through the main entrance, right? And the second door gives into another chambre or is it another entrance/backdoor from outside to the temple?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Bert says to Hawk, as he follows along quietly (stealth 13), "Sure, maybe they're peculiar decorators! Could be something else, but if we find someone, we can ask them."
Is the room with the half-open door underneath the steeple?
He says to Krakkan and Mandaway, "Giants throw boulders, right? Maybe the goblins found bigger friends?"
Looking to see if the boulders seem to be new additions to the ground or like they've been there for days (perception 19)
Looking through the door, it leads to a back room which contains a plain wooden bed. The mattress has been torn open and its straw pulled out. The floor is strewn with the contents of two wooden chests: priestly vestments and worthless personal effects. You also see the steeple and the ropes for the bell, seemingly moving on their own.
(There is a second door opposite the main door that looks like another entrance, I just forgot to mention it earlier. This is a small side door)
After picking himself up off the ground, Zook follows the others into the temple, staying close to Hawk. "I don't think those rocks are there for decoration." Upon entering the back room and seeing the bell rope moving on its own, he says, "And I don't think that bells ring themselves. We should go up there investigate." He searches the area to try and find an access to the steeple.
"Perhaps we should just grab the rope and see what happens..."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Upon walking over to the rope, you look up and see, previously out of your line of sight, the cause of the bell ringing. Two goblins are swinging from the ropes, hanging onto a knot in the bell higher up. As soon as they see you, their faces change from happiness and laughter to scowling. They slide down the rope and draw their scimitars. Everyone roll initiative. (I will take an average of your roll compared to theirs and do group initiative)

Forge still walking closely behind the largest of his companions Krakkan "Something is definitely not right here.... Come to me Alf." and out from its pocket dimension comes an owl "Hello my friend, fly into the sky for me please so I may see from a better vantage point." Forge stops moving, takes a deep breath and as he does his fiery pupils go completely black.

(Apologies for this - the other replies hadn't shown up when this posted!)
Yes you get sneak attack. (But due to their roll and the probability of everyone else getting above 22, they will probably go first and be within 5ft of an ally
"Goblin alert!" shouts Zook as he steps back, draws his short sword and prepares to face the two goblins as they slide down the rope. Quickly glancing around, he notes the position of Hawk, Bert, Mandaway, and anyone else who has entered the temple.

After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)
" I'm no expert. But I'm thinking those rocks aren't supposed to be there......", Mandaway stated simply almost to himself.
He looked at the rocks and thought back to the few hunting expeditions the stone giants had brought him on......
" I think I know what happened here........I can still hear that ringing.....", he stuck his finger in his ear again trying to clear it.
He looked towards the temple for signs of who it was dedicated to and began to approach it....

Lathander and Mielikki.....Eldaths cousins....of a sort. At least to Mandaways brand of Theology.....
He stared at the steeple for almost a full minute, " Oh..........its a bell.........obvious really."
He continued walking towards the temple door....

(Apologies for this - the other replies hadn't shown up when this posted!)
Bert determines that the cause of the ringing was these goblins. The sound stopping as the goblins landed, with swords drawn.
Forge:
Alf sees all apart from the white bar (as that is inside)
