Bonus Action: Rage, Attack: 7 (seeing as the grappled condition doesn't say he can't attack) Damage: 14
When the little goblins rush to grab Marius they manage to lash on to him...which was their mistake as he then lets out a mighty roar as his skin tinged red as his blood pumps and he unleashes his fury on the one holding him. With the skill of a man who has trained most of his life he slashes down with his glaive preferring to free himself by killing the one attempting to hold his over 200 pounds of muscle.
Marius roars out as rage fills his veins, his muscles tensing even as the Goblins scimitar drives it's way into his thigh muscles, twisting in such a way as to cripple the leg partially, reducing his movement speed (when un-grappled) to 10 feet per round, however, his is rage allows him to take only half the 7 damage rounded up (4)
Goblin 4 is easily pierced by the glaive, his chest bursting with blood much like in the aliens movies as it dies, releasing him from the hold.

Having finally killed his small adversary, Ryner wastes no time to move around the wagon to the next target. Seeing Marius being held down (kinda lol) by a goblin, he immediately attacks it.

(g2 is actually g3 but I derped on his token, lol)
G3 explodes in gore, as he takes double his health, as well as the double crit, spattering his blood on everyone around them, especially Marius and Ryner. Goblin 5 considered running, but saw no point... as a final act of vengeance, knowing he was soon about to be eviscerated himself... Attempts to stab his scimitar into Marius Crotch.
Attack: 15 Damage: 6
Missing his stab, and ultimately.. jabbing the blade through his own throat, and into his head. Dying.
Giving everyone 250 EXP. Even Salazar. An additional 25 EXP has been awarded for the difficulty level.
Angry as he is Marius is still fully aware of the battle and when the goblin attempts the vicious strike he can't help but jump to the side to avoid it while attempting a hasty counter attack that unfortunately misses. However enraged by the viciousness of the blow he quickly recovers using the momentum of his swing to bring the weapon back around for another attack...
Attack: 9 Damage: 14 (forgot that my first attack would be a DOoA)
...Unfortunately as he his swinging the blow he takes a small step that causes his shoe to slip on some gore from one of the other goblins and cause his blow to go wide leaving him vulnerable to a counterattack.
Breathing deeply Marius calms his rage uttering the mantra of his family to his ancestors before approaching Salazar to make sure he was still alive. As he moves to the downed scholar he places his weapon down and begins to work to gently move the down scholar without worsening his injuries while saying, "gonna load up the mousy scholar in the wagon then we can check the bodies for anything valuable. After that I will remove the obstacle on the road so we can finish our delivery and be off, will you be able to look after the scholar while I drive the wagon?"
As Marius speaks he lifts Salazar and gently places him in the wagon and then proceeds to place his glaive on the wagon and take a goblin scimitar so that he can keep a weapon on him while going through the remains for anything worth taking from them. If nothing else he will load the wagon with their weapons as they might be able to sell them later and he could always use the arrows. When that is finished Marius will work to move the dead horses out of the way, using his glaive to make them smaller if their weight proves too much.
Perception: 19 (to keep on the lookout for more attackers)

Salazar is gently placed into the cart, though there were no soft surfaces for him to relax on, it was still a decent spot. Setting his weapon down, Marius picks up one of the five Scimitars to use in his own defense. Marius scours each goblin, between them all, finding a total of 13 arrows. Though crude, they could still be used like any other arrow. The forest remains silent in the aftermath of the battle, other than the shallow breathing of Salazar, and the ruffling of Marius actions. Ryner was doing whatever he was doing in the meantime.
Two of the Goblins have imperfect sapphires on their persons, worth 25 GP each. Aside from their weapons, these sapphires, and their crude leather armors, that are now in tatters, the goblins are bereft of anything of worth.
Marius then makes his way over to the horses. Blood coated the snow around them, and moved them both with relative ease, the second one was partially frozen to the ground, makign it a bit more difficult.. However as he finished moving the last horse out of the way...he would see the horses saddle was emblazoned with the same coloring, and symbolization that Gundren and Sildar's armor bore. These were Gundren, and Sildars Horses.

It will take 3 hours, or a short rest for Salazar to wake up.

Putting the two gems in his own pack and the weapons in the cart Marius begins moving the horses when he spots the insignia on the saddles. Cursing he looks to the other two who are far more injured than he is and then to the saddles and rumbles as he takes the saddles off the horses and walks back. Tossing them in the wagon he turns to Ryner and says, "it looks like the buggers got our employers as they were traveling, the two horses have the insignia of the man hiring us. Now it doesn't sit right with me abandoning someones who has paid me but Salazar is injured and so are you so I won't force us to track down to see if our employer is alive but I would like to...though I do think regardless we should rest up a bit here and maybe see if we can get our scholar awake..I do suspect he is a cleric based on him healing up that one thief yesterday."
Should Ryner agree to track them down Marius will quickly look over where the horses were to see if he might find signs of where the dwarf and human were taken so that when they are ready they could start on the trail. Survival: 5
Ryner scowls slightly at the news, but sighs, nodding his head. He cleans himself up a bit, saying "We best rest a little first, thankfully the snow will make tracking the ones who ran away easier." He pulls himself, painfully, into the wagon and rests for a while.

Despite how little you can see, you realize that there is a blood streak trail leading in the direction that one of the goblins ran off in. Though the blood clearly isn't fresh. It streaks deeper into the woods. Looking up, you can see the tip of a mountain top, that seems to be part of a gradually increasing inclination from where this road starts going that way. Salazar begins to shiver. The horses seem fine with sitting in their harnesses, as they eat/drink the snow and grass, regardless of the blood within. More likely ignorant to it, moreso than anything.

The three tree's around the original tree continue to burn even as the party rests. Smoke slowly billowing into the air as it consumes the giant plants. Making the area a little warmer, but also more dangerous.
18
The party manages to rest safely over the next four hours, however, the day is beginning to give way to night. 29 one of the tree's falling over finally, as its consumed, landing in another tree as the fire begins to spread anew.

(I'm honestly surprised by how long this fire is burning considering all the snow 0-0)
Hit Die: 9
Ryner, having healed up (at least a little at most entirely), gets out of the chart to admire the beautiful landscape, that is a burning snow covered forest, "...huh, don't see that everyday." After that, he'll look to Marius and call out, "So? What now?" He also looks over to see if Salazar is awake.
"Well given how quickly the night approaches and the state of our companion we have little recourse but to finish the delivery and hope that our employer can free himself,"Marius says looking at the downed scholar and frowning as whether they pursue the trail or go to the town he feels the decision is a bad one...but with the quick approach of night he can't help but feel it would be utterly foolish to take on a fight when one of them had come so close to dying already.
As the fire continued to burn in the dimming light, smoke billowing from the dampness of the wood, causing the smoke to be thick, and black, and somewhat choking, the fire continuing to spread unabated, but slowed by the melting snow upon the trees. Eventually, for miles around, a soft, orange glow of fire could be seen from nearly every direction. And where the fire couldn't, the ever rising column of smoke, could. As Marius looks down at the currently unconscious scholar, he sighs. Looking at the fire, and wondering if it will ever abate, or if by some ill luck it will continue.
Off in the forest, the last shuffling of leaves and snow can be heard from the fleeing goblin. Marius is about to turn around, to address Ryner, to ask him how he feels about what they should or should not do, when suddenly, a loud crack is heard. The other tree, nearest the original that had already toppled, snapped in half, at the midway point - Marius, completely unprepared for this, turns around, just before he is crushed beneath the blazing tree. His final rest would be of one who was spattered bloody on the road, and devoured by a hellish inferno. There was no way to save him.
During the time Ryner first reacted to the incident(or failed to, for whatever reason), Salazar stirs and eventually half rises from his sleep groaning in pain."Why does... everything... ah--"He gasps and clutches at his wound. Noticing the light in the process, the scholar goes from pained and tired to wide-eyed from terror seeing the inferno far too close for comfort. "Wha...? Ho--"Salazar winces as he crawls over to the edge of the cart to look for his companions. "M-marius!? Oh no no no!"He exclaims before scrambling out of the cart.
He hits the ground on his side and cry of pain. But digging deep, the cleric forces himself to stand and continue over to start scooping and throwing snow onto the log. "H-hold on Marius! J-just hold on--Ryner! G-get over h-here and help!"Is shouted without really looking for the man. Even as it dons on him that Marius could not be saved it doesn't stop the cleric from trying to put out enough flames with the intent of eventually picking or rolling it off whatever remained of the mercenary.

The sound of a horse's whinny can be heard over the cackle of the flames as a large white stallion with a yellow-mane appears through the smoke, seeming to gallop almost recklessly into the clearing from nowhere. Sitting astride the mount you see a tall, broad-shouldered young man with alert light blue eyes, mid-length wind-tossed blonde hair and a handsome though serious-beyond-his-years face. You make out the rider's features despite the open-front battle helmet atop his head, also noticing the man's gleaming chain mail, white/gold surcoat and the polished steel shield and red-leather handled warhammer strapped to his steed.
The armoured rider holds up one gauntleted hand in a gesture of peace as his other clutches the reigns of his mount, which he pulls into a tight circle before the cart. Glancing at the scale mail clad man, before looking about the area, the bold young warrior's gaze finally comes to rest on the burnt and crushed body that is barely visible beneath the still burning tree. Casting a clenched steel-clad fist in the direction of the dissapearing sun, the horseman says briskly though somberly,'
"May the Morning Lord light the path of your fallen. You there... are you alone here? Are there any other survivors? I managed to find a still safe trail through the brush and woods, but we dare not tarry here if we wish to clear this fire before it traps us!"

If Salazar notices either horse or rider over the crackling fire, it never shows in expression or form. Words virtually fell on deaf ears, for his sole focus had been on snuffing out enough of the flame, if not moving the tree dousing enough of its burning trunk. So, it may come as a surprise to the rider -- to Anders when he abruptly jerked away at the slightest of contact before falling on his butt from the sudden shift in balance. Any healing that might've been recieved in that moment never taking hold, unfortunately.
Breathing heavily, Salazar stared up wide-eyed at first, and then adjusted his glasses as if uncertain of the image. While he gathered himself, Anders can get his first proper look at the man without the light of the flames or the man's broad shoulder back to him. Even seated, Salazar was a fairly tall man, easily reaching six feet and a little more, and far, FAR younger than what thickly braided white hair protrayed him as from any angle but a full frontal one. Although a thick, green scarf and equally thick winter clothing obscured much of his figure, what little skin remain exposed denoted a Turami or Tethryn heritage from further inland of Faerun.
But there was something far stranger about him that prematurely white hair and worried golden eyes only hinted at. Salazar wasn't particularly handsome by any stretch of the imagination. Interesting, yes, and one could even say boyish and mousy at a glance. Yet, something about him to the Paladin felt... familiar, or perhaps even calming and alluring the more gaze lingers on the man. Then he adjusted his glasses (or Anders glances away), and with that the feeling fades to the background. "Y-you're a kn-knight? No, no. Y-you said Morninglord and that appearance.. uhm.. I remember.. yes! Y-your a templar, yes? Paladin?"Salazar looks him one more time, then jumps in his seat, appearing to remember something.
"Maurice! I-I need to get him out. I-if we can get him to a temple--"And so, he rambles on as he goes back to the log to lift up just enough to move it away to free up the up the body. Short of being pulled away or the fire's refusal to douse, Salazar doesn't stop until fatigue or success win in the end.

'Embarrased somewhat at having startled the injured and clearly distraught man, and silently berating himself for once again charging in without sufficient consideration, the young paladin nods and sets to assisting him to retrieve the body of his fallen companion, despite the potential threat of the continuing fire. As he works alongside the bespectacled man with the white-braided hair, Ander says quietly in the distinctive accent and tone of a noble of Waterdeep that anyone familiar with the City of Splendors might recognise,'
"I apologise for being so forward, friend. I see... saw danger, and acted. I will do what I can to help you gather your fallen, but then we must be away. And yes, I do indeed have the humble honour of being a consecrated knight-templar of the Dawn Father, though lengthier introductions might best wait for later."

@DM - with that perception check, can I also deduce how fast the fire is spreading and how long we might have before it over takes this clearing (or even if it will)?
@Salazar & Ryner - perception check DC 15 (he's not hiding it, but there's a lot going on) to hear what Ander mutters to himself before healing Salazar:
"Morning Lord - As you lift our spirits with your life-giving warmth and light, so too I beseech thee as your humble servant to raise the vigour of this imperilled man beneath your gaze."

Paladin?" Salazar looks him one more time, then jumps in his seat, appearing to remember something.
"Maurice! I-I need to get him out. I-if we can get him to a temple--" And so, he rambles on as he goes back to the log to lift up just enough to move it away to free up the up the body.

[OOC] athletics check (with disadvantage due to the fact that it's still burning) to remove enough of the fallen tree to retrieve the body of the fallen man: 5
