Vimak pays for the remainder of the meal. While he plans to share with everyone, Vimak quickly inhales much of the food. As he eats, he listens to Cirrus and Bastille, but also to Saldir. "Gundren seemed like a good man. Who was the Big Spider the bugbear mentioned? Would you fund our efforts to find him and this spider person?"
During his meal, Vimak will ask Bastille, "What sorts of experiences have you had as an adventurer? Do you know of any work we might do in the area?"
When everyone finishes eating, Vimak carefully stacks the plates, glasses, and other eating utensils. He piles them all to the left of the tub in the kitchen, heats water, and scrubs everything from the table, stacking plates on the right of the tub. He dries them, then wipes the table clean.
Bastille says, "Oh I'm not an adventurer really, I just decided to travel more. I haven't been in this town for very long so I don't know what kind of work you can do?" Overhearing Silder's mentions of Gundren, Bastille asks, "Who or what is this Big Spider you speak of?"
Cirrus seems very contemplative after hearing Bastille say that it would be difficult. If it truly is as difficult as she says, then what hope does he have? Although, after their adventure in the goblin cave, Cirrus felt as though he had a stronger control of the arcane, perhaps if he had more experiences like this one, he might come across the means to travel to where he desires. He comes out of this trance just in time to hear Bastille ask about the Big Spider. "The Black Spider is a maybe-human individual who paid a goblin king to kidnap Gundren Rockseeker. We don't know why. The most that we know is the cardinal direction that the goblin king's keep, crag maw castle, is."

Since you're traveling Bastille, have you seen Cragmaw Castle?" Bastille calmly replies, "I'm afraid I haven't seen it.""Well, do you have anywhere particular you are headed?" "Not really just going around looking for whatever arcane knowledge I can find to bolster my spells." "I see. Well, the boys here are short a person and were asking me if I knew someone who might help them on their journey. Would you be willing to join their adventuring party? I mean, you'd get to travel a lot and adventurers often get into places that have magic stuff so you might even have a better chance at finding something you might want." Bastille shrugs and says, "Well, if they want me, I don't see a reason why I can't join them."
(Unbeknownst to Herman, the reasons Herman is giving to Bastille are also convincing Cirrus to continue adventuring as well.)

Sildar shakes his head The only other thing I know, is that Iarno was here about the same time as the rise of the Redbrands. How those two events are connected, I don't know. And if you haven't heard of the Redbrands, they are a local gang that has been harassing this town. I was also tasked with looking into them but I am but one man... I cannot simultaneously help Gundren, follow my duty of finding my Friend Iarno, and stop an entire gang alone. I will pay you for whatever help you provide. Breakfast is waiting in the morning, it's nothing special, some eggs and sausage as a complimentary meal for your stay, though Vimak is given a double serving for cleaning up the night before. The inn is slightly busy, a few random patrons also there, likely from the other rooms. Otherwise the place is, for lack of a better term, quaint, and peaceful, atleast right now.
As Vimak asks his questions one of the barmaids says Hmm, no, never heard of no cragmaw castle, but their is an old, abandoned fortress a ways to the north. But there are no outstanding features as the place was mostly abandoned hundreds of years ago. If you head north along the Triboar trail, and cut off around here... going west... it should be somewhere around there... in this time she had produced a local map and had pointed out several locations along the way. Before Cirrus and Vimak went to sleep, Cirrus is using a piece of cotton to clean his pipes when he asks Vimak, trying to seem casual, "Vimak, what did you mean when you said, 'mothers are complicated'?"
In the morning, he will feed the sausage to his wolves and have the eggs for himself. Assuming that the group is eating in close proximity to each other, Cirrus will address them all. "Good morning everyone! It's time for our morning meeting to nail down our agenda for today! First of all, we have the matter of the arm wrestling at noon today. that has been set in stone, or rather, in paper, as it is what the posters say. So what we need to decide is what we will do after that."
(OOC: we should decide out of character where the match will be held. The characters already know where the match will be, because they made the posters, but we should specifically name it for the DM's sake.)
"So, our options are as follows: we could try to investigate the disappearance of Sildar's friend Iarno. Unfortunately we don't have any solid leads except for a tentative connection to a gang called the Redbrands. I suppose we could investigate that, but I personally don't see enough of a connection to go tangling with a dangerous gang. Another option: go searching for our employer, Gundren Rockseeker. We don't know for sure where Cragmaw Castle is, but the barmaid did mention an old abandoned fortresss, which might be one in the same. I had an idea on how to find the keep, but these directions will probably serve us much better. But we need to decide which of those things we will do, if either, then we can decide if we will be setting out right after the match or not. I had an idea for a spell I could cast to make the Morningstar look more like a legendary weapon, but I want to know if I need to conserve my enchamtments today if we are going to mess with dangerous gangs or head for a castle full of dangerous goblins."

Bastille takes a look at Cirrus, Vimak and Gilari. She says, "Looks me like all of you are still tired from your last expedition (1 level exhaustion). Rushing into a bandit's den or looking for a castle full of enemies both seem like very dangerous things to do when exhausted. I can still go with you because I'm not really tired but I think it would be better if you rest up for another day before venturing out."
(OOC: I'm not going to add any gold from Herman to Bastille. But if the DM says it's fine, I want to not have exhaustion on Bastille because she didn't run for a whole day on an empty stomach like the rest of us.)
(OOC: Sorry I've been quiet folks - I was away over the weekend, and thought I had posted but turns out my phone ate it, and now that post is no longer relevant. So I'll try and catch up with the below.)
Gilari rises and breakfasts with the others, and tries unsuccessfully for the most part to get a extra sausage or two on his plate to stave off his hunger. As Cirrus calls all their group together he listens to the options before chiming in with. "Well the contest ain't until noon, so that's half a day's travel wasted already before we even begin our adventure. Let's rest, recuperate and try for some coin with the locals... and if we happen to ask some questions about these... Redbrands, well then that might get us somewhere." He listens and sees what consensus is reached.
About a half hour before noon, after having been stretched out outside resting up against the inn's walls, Gilari rises and nods to Vimak. "Time to earn our keep I think" he grins. He steps back inside and walks to the barkeep Toblen. "I need a table."
"A table? To eat? We're not really...."The barkeep's voice stops as Gilari just lifts one of his smaller two person tables off the ground with just one arm, and then stacks a couple of stools onto it whilst it is aloft in the air. "Bu-bu-but."
"No, not to eat. To play! I hope you don't mind us borrowing these... we'll just be out in the square if you want to come watch, and I'll drop these back when we're through."He pauses and remembers the last arm wrestling contest he had with that dwarf in the docks. "But just in case, here's two gold... just in case mind, that these magnificently sturdy pieces of furniture don't make it back to you in one piece." And with that he turns and heads out of the door.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

But I was beginning to see, and other members of the tribe were beginning to tell me, that i could run the tribe better than my mother." Vimak is in his bed, on top of the covers, leg crossed. The pillow is under his feet. His arms are behind his head. "The expectation among the tribe was beginning to be that I would contest my mother for the tribe's leadership."
"Rather than beat her immediately--Goliath elderly care for themselves and if she were not the leader of the tribe, she would be nothing to it--I traveled south, out of the mountains. I will not lead the tribe, as I should, I am the best within it, but she will live many seasons more. No one else in the tribe is close to her strength and they are all even farther from mine." He uncrosses and recrosses his legs. "Of course, she hates me for leaving the tribe. She told me as I went. As I said," Vimak says, "mothers are complicated."
"Yes, Gilari," Vimak says, giving the barkeep two gold as well, "thoughtfully done." He joins his friend out in the crowded square. Members of the town pass around the table. "Perhaps we could warm up with some of the town before I win our competition."
Vimak puts a copper in one corner of the table. "You there," he calls to the largest humanoid he can see. "Arm wrestle me! Win this copper if you can!"
Cirrus gets Klarg's Morningstar from Gilari and puts on his sky coat. He then begins muttering to himself, trying to figure out what he will say as he addresses the crowd as the MC for the event.
