Laza will head back to base to wait for the rest of the group. Once near his room he'll also look to see what random book he grabbed.
Laza examines his book on the way to Pike's office. It's a small red tome entitled "Occulari". Intelligence check:2 You have no idea what it is and don't recognise the language it's written in.
Brayton stops off at his home to drop off the chest. Instructing his wife and child not to touch it as he hides it in the closet before meeting everyone at the meeting point.
You drop off the chest at your house. Your wife rolls her eyes at you bringing things home from work but doesn't ask questions.
You all arrive at Pike's office in the early evening after your eventful day. The guards inform you that Pike's out on an errand but should be back in about half an hour. They tell you that you can wait upstairs in his office. When you go upstairs and the office is empty. Do you want to do anything while you wait?
Is it enough time for Brayton to spend some time with the hat he took? Figure out the magic of it? If not he will ask the group. “Do you guys know what this does?”
(OOC: The chest was something hidden, nobody knows I took it in the first place, and only had it once we split up, I would assume no one saw me take it)
The hat? It was on a hat rack, it popped off as being magical. It’s a payment from Tolith as a job well done for stealing the book with her.” Brayton gives a wink. “Not like she’s going to need it once she is in prison.”
Brayton begins to mock back in higher pitched Tokith style voice “oh, yes... I know I have dozens of eye witnesses watching me take the book, as well as detailed correspondence in my office planning said thievery but you must know I’m innocent... For you see I’m missing my hat!”
Brayton rolls his eyes and will proceed to don the hat.
“I agree with the Druid” says Rothnar in a colder tone than usual “that was foolish. Now they can trace that hat and point directly to you. You better destroy it. And that you didn’t have nothing more. If the suspect of a thievery is also the target of the thieves suspicion could arise and more investigations conducted. We were told very specific orders. Take the tome and nothing else. Why would you make some stupid thing? I thought you were professional”
“We were told nothing of the sort! We were told take the book and don’t kill anyone... check and check. We were also told we were allowed to take anything of personal belonging of Tolith as an additional bonus. Don’t get high and mighty on me, I have a family to provide for. If they’re going to look for anything it’s going to be that book. We should be getting rid of that rather than sitting on our asses with it still here.” Brayton hops up on his feet standing toe to toe with Rothnar, breathing heavily and gripping his axe. Brayton throws down the two books on the floor. “You’re welcome.” Before he walks back to his spot.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Who exactly saw her take the book, hmm? No one she didn't do it. Those at the festival may have seen her running with a book, but could they identify it as the book we stole."Ruhvon sighs and shifts in his seat uncomfortably. "I hope you didn't think you deserved any more extra payment?"he raises an eyebrow.
“You seem to forget that there was a guard chasing her less than ten feet away! You know the guard there, knowing what should and should not be taken? Things go missing, personal items are misplaced. Maybe she paid the thieves with some of her own things! You’re paranoid and delusional. You guys have the stones to ask if I’m the professional? Pull yourselves together, the job is done. Shut your mouth wait for the boss.” Brayton will continue to ignore the rest of the group until the boss shows up.
Rothnar doesn't stand up at Brayton's menance, neither he raises his voice when he replies
" You claim to have a family to provide for, yet you put them in danger by stealing trinkets that can be traceble to your person. "he makes a pause, look down to the books and then back to him " And that too?. You should burn it all before it's too late. Your incompetence put all of us in danger. Beign so concern for your family as you claim you should be more careful. Let me explain it to you. I am not worried about her aliby or her ability to explain the dissapearance of some objects. I am concern that those objects are traceble by her and those around her. Wich will lead them directly to you, and therefore to us. We have crossed a very powerful wizard today and the results of our little charade are yet to be unvieled. We had spent weeks preparing this job to see it jepardized by your greed or lack of thought. I don't care wich one was. "
He then points to the book waiting at Pike's desk inside the bag.
" And for your petition to deliver the book and wait for the boss, that is exactly what we are doing. Now, put yourself together and don't ever dare to yell at me again."
He says that in his calm, cold tone, not raising the voice even a bit.

Erik will step in "Children enough, what's done is done. As long as you keep it in a chest that's 3 inches thick there should be a problem... plus this why I told you not to take it cause I knew they would ***** about it. Now let me take a look at that book while we wait!" Erik will open the bag and browse it looking for anything interesting about transmutation magic.

Rothnar rolls his eyes when he sees Erik opening and reading a book that even the Masters of the Magick University dare not to look into and that it was kept under so much vigilance. If a client wanted to lose his mind over that book it was fine with him, but seeing that another team member was so reckless make him consider to ask for a transfer.

You perceive that Brayton id being straightforward. He believes he was allowed to take Tolith's stuff and that he did so and thinks there was nothing wrong with it. He's exasperated it's even an issue.
Brayton rolls his eyes and will proceed to don the hat.
As you don the hat, you feel a little strange. I'll give you an Intelligence roll to see if you can work out what it is: 2 You feel a bit tingly, but have no idea what the specific effect of putting the hat on was.

Erik, as you open the book you see a bright light in the centre of your vision. It grows stronger and stronger. You're unable to look away. You feel a force pressing against your mind, probing for weakness. For a way in. Wisdom saving throw: 13 You're able to put up some resistance, but your perception of the world has faded away to nothing. The force is all that's left as it presses deeper and deeper into your mind. It's hungry. It yearns. It wants some part of you and you're struggling to resist.
Everyone else, you see Erik staring at the Well of Souls. His eyes are wide and glazed. The colour is draining from his cheeks. The pages of the book appear empty to you but his eyes are fixed on them. He begins to shake slightly. Something is happening to him and it doesn't look good.

Rothnar just puts the bag containing the book on the table and sits, waiting for Pike and the rest of the team.
