After scouting the street Laza says to the his small group "Roth.. hang back a bit. Harpy.. stick with me. Oh. And have you got any more of those sweet meats?" After taking a couple more in a bag he walks up to each of those houses with Harpy at his side, knocks on the door, smiles, and says "Hi! I'm Paul, this is my partner Mur. We're new to the neighborhood and just wanted to introduce ourselves. We brought some sweet meats!"
Number 3 opens up and it's a burly half-orc who looks drunk.
First, let's roll deception to see if they believe you Deception8 and insight to see how well you read them 11
"Shove off! Look at your armour!" he slurs. "You're not from round 'ere and if you think I'm going to accept anything from you, you'd better think again! I don't what you're trying to pull but I'm not falling for it!" He slams the door in your faces and the whole front of the house shakes. He appeared to be very simple and his reaction seemed to be a genuine mistrust of strangers.
There's no answer at Number 17.
At number 31 a human female in her fifties opens the door a crack, seeming to keep it shut on a chain. Deception15 and Insight22
She regards you carefully before saying "Just a minute." she closes the door and you see her close the door, hear the chain unbolting and the door swings open "Hello dears, Paul and Mur, was it? Lovely to meet you! I'd love a sweet meat!" She takes one and you chat pleasantly for a few minutes about the neighbourhood. Once or twice you almost slip up as she mentions a local landmark or business, but you manage to style it out. A few minutes later you're on your way. You detect she was a genuine, nice person with nothing to hide who just wanted a chat with you.
At Number 40, the door swings open and a halfling is stood there. He has a round, cheeky face and blond hair. Deception14; Insight13"Oh, you're new here are you? How nice. My name's Jim. Jim Applebottom at your service. I'll happily have one of your sweetmeats!" He takes the treat and begins eating it. "I hope you don't mind, but I have a pot on the oven and I need to go, but if you want to chat another time you can often find me in the Rusty Nail. Thanks again for the treat!" He shuts the door. You sense he was keen to get rid of you but not much else. Perception15 As he talks the fact he's a halfling causes you to listen for sounds inside the house. You hear a few quiet noises. It could be one other person not trying to conceal themselves or more people trying to be very quiet, it's difficult to tell.
Below ground, the rats make the first move. One of the rats move up close to Erik and his teeth slash at him. Attack roll: 16 His teeth sink into Erik's leg, doing 3 damage.
Another rat scurries off towards Ruhvon and leaps at his face. Attack roll: 21. His teeth gnash and gnaw, drawing a decent amount of blood, inflicting 4 damage.
The third rat hurries past Erik and jumps over the flowing water towards Brayton. Erik, you can make an attack of opportunity as it passes with your reaction if you like. The rat makes it across the gap in a leap which ends with him hitting straight into Brayton's chest. Attack roll: 12. The force of its impact knocks Brayton hard, winding him and inflicting 5 damage.
For your turns, I'm happy for you guys to take your turns in any order you like to speed up the process of combat.
The mutters something and a green energy surrounds the wounds. He then brings his shield up to prepare for its next strike "I will keep this one busy," he growls clutching where the rodent gashed him.
Brayton angered by the rodent’s attack, his rage erupts in a roar as he takes out his axe (dropping his torch) and bringing down his axe upon the filthy beast.
Bonus action: Rage
Attack: 13 Damage: 17
(I’m assuming that takes care of the rat)
Brayton will move to get into rage with the rat attacking Ruhvon.
Gathering back together Laza says to the surface team "We should meet back up with the others to tell them what we've learned. And perhaps stake out either #40 here, or the stationary shop tonight."

Gathering back together Laza says to the surface team "We should meet back up with the others to tell them what we've learned. And perhaps stake out either #40 here, or the stationary shop tonight."
Harpy nods to Laza, "so you think that place is their hideout just because a Halfing answered the door? I mean probably is but these days one never knows does one? I am thinking we just need to confront them, not take the extra time involved with a stakeout and risk it not panning out. Did you want me to stay here and keep an eye on the house with the Halfing while you find the other group to see what they want to do and swing by to get me later? Or do we just stick together and go look for the other group? Just be aware I am still not going down into the sewer, besides they could come out anywhere not necessarily the way they went in!"
Laza sighs saying "yes... Perhaps it wasn't well thought out to split up with no plan for how to get back together..." adding "if we confront them and things go poorly it is only the three of us, and there were definitely others inside that house."

The rat quivers a little as the electricity strikes it. It's hair stands on end at it looks a little surprised but it seems to be able to keep fighting.
As the rat runs past towards Brayton, Erik cleaves a chunk out of it with his dagger. It cries in pain but keeps running. Then Brayton kills it.
The rat next to Ruhvon saw his bretheren get killed by Brayton and then Brayton close on him. Worried by the presence of his new threat, it attacks Brayton with its fangs. Attack: 18 His fangs sink into Brayton's arm, dealing 5 damage.
The other remaining rat is in combat with Erik and slashes at him with its claws. Attack: 6. Its claws get caught up in Erik's robes and don't connect with him.
Back to you guys in combat.
Laza, Harpy and Rothnar, is there anything else you'd like to do above ground while you wait for the combat to resolve?
Ruhvon gives the dwarf a nod has he comes over to take the hit from the rat. He draws his quarterstaff back. It glows with a sickly green as he does so, imbuing it with it druidic magic. He then tries to bring it down on the creature's head.
(Brayton is raging, so that damage is reduced to 2?)
Brayton retaliates against the rat swinging wildly at it “I’ll get you, you rat bastard!”
Attack: 16 Damage: 8
Absolutely, it's piercing damage so it's halved. It barely slows you down and your retaliation catches is squarely across its back. It's at death's door when Ruhvon brings down his eerily glowing staff on the creatures head. The skull shatters with a deafening crack and the creature is no more.
Erik is still engaged with the one remaining rat but, this time, the rat is prepared for his spell and dives out of the way behind the wizard. It slashes at his calves with its claws. Attack: 13. The attack connects, sending painful bloody cuts across the backs of Erik's legs, dealing 3 damage. Erik is left standing, but only just.
Ruhvon rushes over to the heavily injured wizard and tries to draw the rat's attention. "Human's don't taste good!" The druid then brings his glowing staff down on the beast.

Since no one responded to him, Laza says "right... well... I'd rather not waste time just standing here in the street." and heads towards the stationary shop to see what it looks like.
