Ruhvon rushes over to the heavily injured wizard and tries to draw the rat's attention. "Human's don't taste good!" The druid then brings his glowing staff down on the beast.
Attack: 12 Damage: 3
As the glowing staff hits the rat there's a crack, it seems as though one its bones has broken, but it's still fighting.
Using Shield to block the rat from biting him, Erik will use another Shocking Grasp.
Shocking Grasp: 17
Damage: 1
When the rat swiped at Erik previously, his quick reaction caused a glowing shield to appear in mid-air and the rat bounced off harmlessly. Slightly stunned, the rat was not prepared for the electricity that springs from Erik's hands as he reaches for the rat.
The rat is now distinctly singed and bloody, but somehow still fighting. Now a little scared of Erik's electricity which has it him twice, the rat lunges viciously at Brayton. Attack: 6 In the dwarf's rage he seems to just shrug off the impact and it has no effect.
Laza, Harpy and Rothnar, is there anything else you'd like to do above ground while you wait for the combat to resolve?
Since no one responded to him, Laza says "right... well... I'd rather not waste time just standing here in the street." and heads towards the stationary shop to see what it looks like.
OK, Laza, Harpy and Rothnar return to the stationery shop next to The Pantry. It's a small shop which is obviously trying to be high-end. From the lack of customers it seems that it might have picked the wrong neighbourhood. As you enter, you see stacks of parchment and piles of quills neatly arranged around the shop. A young half-elf, presumably the shopkeeper lies slumped over the desk next to the till. What do you do? In most cases, I'd like you to give me an investigation roll so go ahead and roll that as you describe what you do.
Rothnar follows Laza but he says while they are walking
"We are wasting our time. We should go for the others and pressure that halfling. If they aren't the ones we are looking for surely they know where there are more halflings in the neighbourd. Also I could try to open the door that nobody answer before if you want..."
Nodding, Laza responds "I was hoping to find the group at the shop... since we didn't set a meeting point. Though some breaking and entering can be fun..." ((I'm fine to retcon that we didn't make it to the shop now that Frandal is back. Let's see what Odd/Harpy has to say.))
Harpy looks at Rothnar and Laza, "I think our companions logically would seek us out at the other places on our list to visit so will most likely seek to catch up to us as we continue our investigation. So we continue on and if they don't appear we go back to the spot they entered the sewer to see if they waiting there. For now, I think we should consider going back and checking the house that was locked."
(OOC: Deleted my earlier post as I overlooked Brayton's attack that did in the rat.)
"That was too close... You barely escaped that one," he chuckles as he looks to Erik - his tone slightly disappointed that Erik still stands.
The druid looks ahead towards Pudding Lane. "Should we continue, or go report to the others? I believe we have a good idea how they are pulling off their thefts."
( In case retcon or just walking back to the closed one is ok... )
Rothnar produces a small leather roll that he unrolls, looks at the lock and select two of the tiny, fine metal tools similar to needles that are inside the now unfolded bag. He starts to work at the lock trying to unlock it, asking Laza to move the cristal a little bit to the right so he can see better.
Erik glared at Ruhvon "Let's continue down here before we know for sure." Erik will continue to move down the sewers looking any more clues.
Investigation: 10
As you progress down the tunnel that runs under Pudding Lane you don't encounter any more creatures and are about halfway along it when you notice a construction in the middle of the passageway, suspended over the flowing water. It's a wooden scaffholding structure with a series of ladders and platforms leading up to the roof above you. In the ceiling you see the stonework ceiling has been chiselled away and the opening has been expanded such that a normal-sized creature can fit through the hole running upwards. You hear a commotion echoing down the hole from wherever is above.

(Absolutely, retcon away).
When you approach Number 17 (the door where you received no answer), Harpy is able to find a spot outside to lean nonchalantly and keep watch whilst Rothnar and Laza attend to the lock. The street is fairly empty but someone could see you if they walked past. However, the lock is a fairly simple, older model and no match for an experienced pair of thieves. Within a few seconds the door swings open. Inside you see a number of bedrolls laid out on the floor of the front room of the house. None are occupied. The room is dishevelled and lacks any furniture other than a lopsided sidetable against one wall. Empty bottles lie scattered haphazardly about.
At the far end of the room there's a shut door and you can hear hurried movement coming from the room that lies beyond.
Laza gestures to Harpy to enter the house and shut the door, then allowing a second for her and Rothnar to get ready, will send his mage hand towards to the door to open it, saying as it opens, in a loud commanding voice "Everyone ok in there?"
"Maybe next time watch your steps," Ruhvon imparts his own wisdom.
"This is not something normally found down here," he says indicating the scaffolding. "No,"he replies to the dwarf. "It sounds like there is much going on above. If these are the halflings. We are in no shape to confront them." He motions back the way they came. "Come. Let's report to the others. Did you gather the potions you found in near the entrance?"
Ruhvon will study the position of scaffolding to try to determine of the location of the building on the street above. (Perception/Investigation, same mod 15)
Harpy follows Laza's and enters the house closing the door to the outside behind her. She enters the main room with her two companions watching as Laza uses his mage hand to open the door at the far end of the room. Harpy hearing the hurried movement coming from the room that lies beyond instead of waiting ((fearing someone inside may be attempting to hide or escape)) she rushes inside the room following the sounds and searching for who or what is making them and/or where they are heading if trying to hide or escape. Perception14
The room in the back of the house is about twenty feet square and contains a number of bits of equipment and miscellaneous objects. However, the first thing Laza, Rothnar and Erik see is a group of five halflings with red hair. The next thing they see is a hole in the middle of the floor that the halflings are descending into. One of them is saying to the others "Quick, someone's coming! Scarper!" When they see you they freeze for a moment, fear in their eyes before hurriedly descending into the hole in the ground.
At the same time as Erik, Ruhvon and Brayton in the sewers are preparing to head back to the sewer under Hangman's Lane they hear the noise above begin to descend on to the scaffolding. When you turn to see the source, you see a group of grubby halflings with red hair descending the structure in a hurry. When they see you, they freeze again "Gah! They're down here too!" the one at the front yells back. "Who are you and what do you want?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“We’re here from the Silver Blades. We’re here to collect what you’ve taken... taken from the wrong stores. It doesn’t have to turn violent if you don’t resist, make it nice and easy. If you choose the hard way, we’ll....”.
Brayton begins to punch the stone wall over and over again until it begins to crack.
(Athletics based Intimidation: 22 -4 if just intimidation)
Ruhvon turns on his heels as the commotion. He holds out a hand seeing the little humanoids being to descend. "Why don't we go back up and we all can talk, huh?"
Held action: Cast entangle on the scaffolding should the halflings continue down.
