"A pleasure sir, good fortune to your trades whilst you are here." The guard nods and puts the money in a chest behind him, and then waves Gryffen through and Zsena who is behind him forward to checked next. As Gryffen moves through he finds himself in Ameni.
The sight that greets the halfling and the rest of the group is one of narrow streets and houses built of a dark grey stone with timbers visible around windows and doors and slated rooves. The streets are packed earth and the tracks from the wagons are taking their toll here and there. There are oil lamps here and there, freshly lit as the sun is starting to go down. Ahead the group can see signs of activity as a nearby tavern is starting to draw in customers. Voices carry to them, talking of lives and plans. Food cooking for evening meals send their smells down the streets, reminding the party that they haven't yet eaten an evening meal.
With Alson and his other guards long out of sight the party are together with two wagons and four horses, the rest of the caravan being searched behind them. WHat would the party like to do?

"Agreed, we should all part ways for a small while, if we troop off together now the whole cover off this caravan will be blown" Gideon turns to speak to Gryffen " Pass a message to Ophelia, keep the disguise and go about whatever business your guise would dictate, we can meet tonight, me and Kai will still no doubt be in the Inn with Alson"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"I'll look for you there," Gryffen says. "In the meantime, I'll see if I can find who these toys were destined for. If nothing else, I can open my own stall, I guess."
Gryffenwill pass along Gideon'smessage to Opheliaas he passes by, then parts with her as well, venturing into the unknown city in search of rather mundane answers.
DM:
Gryffenwill begin by investigating the toys and the cart for clues as to who might be expecting delivery of the goods. He will also double-check the toys to make sure they were not being used to smuggle anything else:
- Investigation: 18
If the toys are NOT being used to smuggle things into the city and he has no other clues, he will begin striking up conversations with the locals to find out where toy stores or toy sellers are and visit their shops and stalls in search of the recipient.
- Investigation: 15
If he is able to offload the toys, he will also seek out a place to sell the horse and cart. If the toys are apparently his for good, then he will have to seek out buying or renting a market stall...
Gryffen spends a few minutes looking over the content of the wagon for signs of where they are due, finding a list of three names with a box number that corresponds to each of the boxes in the wagon, helpfully there are a simple list of bills of sale already drawn up indicating what each are worth. Once he has checked the figures he realises that he should be collecting a total of about 125 gold for the lot, a considerable amount for the toys but they are well crafted and unique. What he doesn't have is any addresses, so speaks to some of the local folk who can point him towards one particular area of the city where two of the three are located, the third is in a different part of town.
Gryffen heads for the Caral district where two of the sellers are, the first goes smoothly, with a brief explanation the owner, slightly annoyed at being forced to open the shop, is happy to recieve the goods, although upset at the fact that the original owner of the wagon is dead, especially as she will not be getting hold of any more of the toys again. She hands over 45 gold and bids Gryffen a good evening.
The next shop is about five minutes away, Gryffen finds it easy to move around the city, here in Caral, a merchant quarter the streets are slightly wider and the layout is fairly block like, again the deal goes well and Gryffen receives another 40 pieces of gold in exchange for a few of the remaining boxes.
The night is getting on a bit and Gryffen heads to the third place which is pretty much on his way back to the others. It isn't in such a nice part of town and the streets are narrow here and more confusing, nonetheless the resourceful halfling finds his way. But when he arrives the place is boarded up, it doesn't actually look like it was ever a toy shop, the places adjacent to it seem more like warehouses on a relatively small scale. Standing outside it Gryffen thinks for a moment about what to do.
Perception roll please Gryffen.
Ophelia tell me what you planned to do.
Kai and Gideon I'm presuming you both went as described to the tavern with Alson to pick up your wages.

Nodding as Gryffen explains the plan, Ophelia chuckles as she mounts her own wagon. "Best of luck, toy-maker!"
Noticing the halfling searching for, and finding a manifesto for the trade goods, Ophelia has a search for similar herself, hoping Dejan has been kind to her.
Investigation: 16
She waits for Zsena to make it through the checkpoint, before enquiring where she, and the rest of the wagons, are headed.
It doesn't appear that Dejan has been kind to her but then maybe he has a plan he hasn't yet told her.
As she waits for Zsena she sees the woman get into an argument with the guards who are holding up a bag and a strange stone of some sort asking her questions. Ophelia can't hear the detials but Zsena claims they are trying ot extort more money from her and they seem to be arguing that they want to know what they are. Eventually they relent and she pays a sum of gold and brings her wagon up to Ophelia. Clearly annoyed she nevertheless makes an effort to be civil.
"Looking for somehwere to spend the night? You probably need a place to park that thing as well. I recommend the Gatehouse, it's where I'm headed. They have very secure stabling, lets us go and see shall we?"She moves to head off expecting Ophelia to follow.

"The Gatehouse sounds perfect, thank you for the recommendation." Adria directs her horses to follow Zsena's wagon. A moment later she pipes up with a question. "Do you often have trouble with the guards?", she says referring to the argument at the gate.

Gryffenwill size them up, particularly interested as to whether they might have children or be vagrants. Insight: 15
In any case, he will remove a single wooden toy and leave it outside the boarded up door. Affecting a hobbling stance, he will begin to lead the horse back out of the neighborhood, sniffling and coughing as he goes. Deception: 14
The men are curious more than anything, they might not be the nicest of gentlemen but they give no indication of having it in for Gryffen. As he turns and theatrically departs the area they laugh seeing the deception for what it is "Don't worry my little friend, it's our night off, you got nothing to worry about, but the old fella who used to use this place passed a month back, ain't nobody coming now I reckon. Shame, he was alright, he was."
They turn moving away themselves leaving Gryffen to rejoin the others.
Adria
"What do you mean, oh I see, well no because they have never done this before, I think Dambargi is probably doing it to prove he can, I doubt he needs the money." Zsena continues on "Just another way of demonstrating that he is above the law and that they can't stop him."

"Does he control the whole city then?" Adria asks. "I would have expected the Empire to have sent out an army by now if someone had taken their city, but my grandfather always said that the Empire was corrupt anyway, so maybe Dambargi has an agreement with them?" She shrugs her shoulders to give the impression she is naive to the situation, before changing tack.
"Once we are settled, do you know the way to the Journey's End Tavern? I might be meeting one of the guards from the caravan later", she says, blushing.
