A bald grizzled dark skinned man walks in, lets his eyes adjust to the gloom, reads the note and scans his surroundings for any signs of life. He then proceeds to tighten the straps of his chain mail, loosens the long sword in its scabbard, checks that the rest of his gear is secure and steps up the the stairs. After one last glance he takes a careful step down the stairs, trying to keep quiet (stealth check with disadvantage: 13)
An equally bald, stone grey gnome bearing a finely tailored white beard walks in not too long behind the man, dour expression softening in the gloom of the room. "Unless to the end, you find yourself. That isn't ominous at all."He says in voice far deeper than what should be expected from any gnome, announcing his presence in a way instinctively softened steps failed to do so. After taking some time to restring a shortbow he tries to quietly(22) follow behind Syljeon. "Name's Spiv, by the way. Figured you should know, seeing as we'll be working together from here on out... Unless you prefer to go it alone, Drow."He smirks, revealing a set of meticulous clean teeth. Only the dark black and grey leathers betray any sense unruliness to the man.
Theodorick, a human of ever so slightly tanned skin, has long, mid back length dark brown hair. Though he keeps his hair tied up in a high ponytail. Piercing blue eyes and a firm jawline are seen atop the neck of this well built man standing at about 6ft. tall, 200lbs. Chain mail covers the body of this warrior with a set of gauntlets one which has the symbol of a type of eye on it. Shield on his back and mace at his side Theodorick marches down the stairs, once encompassed by the darkness the gauntlet with the eye on it will begin to shed light.(Light)
You each make your way down the stairs and find yourselves together in a corridor that is 10 feet wide. The walls and floor are made of natural stone.
You find that you can walk two abreast if you wish (let me know the order you walk).
Ahead there is a turn to the left. You follow the corridor as it makes some turns until you find yourself in a long corridor that is about 150 feet long. In this passage you see a light, a small flicker of flame in a sconce on the wall, burning every 20 feet allowing you to see to the end of the passage.
There is an open door way about 110 feet down that leads to the right and another at the end of the passage.
"Hn. Someone's awfully jumpy."Spiv smirks again, then raised his hands in surrender. "Warning noted."He adds dryly. The deep gnome would continue to walk behind the Dark Elf. But if there's any light to worry about, Spiv pointedly squints at its source, then shuffles behind the party trail until he's 25ft behind the last person.
He had already announced himself before reaching the stairs, and after. The sneaking was more for any enemies below, but was poorly written.
Question for the DM: Would worked stone be good enough going forward for Deep Gnome's Stone Camo Trait?
Theodorick will take position at the head of the party whether side by side with someone else or just in lead in single file."Well my new compatriots, I hope you're all ready, as off of a group I could of hoped to have we are stuck with each other now and we have a long journey ahead of us."
Syljeon says, "The brave and the stupid don't live to our age, eh svirfneblin? But if you insist, human, it will be your skin on the line."
He has no wish to be the first. He can be the second though. He makes a questioning motion with his head and eyebrows towards the deep gnome to see if the actually sneaky one would be willing to have a look first.
"I apologize, I didn't know I was hiding." and with that Theodorick will dispell the light from his gauntlet. "If you have wish to sneak ahead and search for something your more than welcome to it deep gnome. I only had intention on being ahead of everyone else when it came to coming face to face with our enemies though in open hallways if you wish to be ahead go right ahead."
Spiv had only glanced to the human with the light and shrugged in response to the questioning motion from before. "Its Spiv. Spiv Nackle "Nim, at your service." He bows and grins toothily, then raises out of it tugging at the side of his fanciful mustache. "Wish is a strong word. But should?" Spiv smirks. "Probably. Hn... Lights are dim. Should hopefully be enough. Follow, but stay at least thirty feet back." Spiv switches from his bow to a pair of Shortsword and dagger on his way to the first opening, keeping an eye(19)[PP: 15] out for any traps along the way.
Spiv motions the others to the first fork. "Now I'm not much of a betting gnome. If it was, /that/ way leads into an offshoot room... Probably."He frowns and huffs. "Keep a look out here. I'm checking out the next one over."Spiv creeps over to the far western turn and has a peek around. If judged safe enough, he returns to the others to report as much. Though if not, he motions for them to back him up.
Last stealth roll was 22. Let me know if you need another.
As the far left(Western) one was a shorter path, Spiv will suggest investigating it further after given it some thought. And so long as none object, he creeps down the path focusing on picking up any sign of activity(20)[PP: 15] of what may lie beyond the next bend
Spiv returns with the report. "Well, good news is. Found the next level down. Bad news? Well..." He looks to the remaining unexplored path. "Yeah, just.. Unless someone else wishes to take point as only danger awaits--" Spiv waggles his fingers at the word danger. "I can take point again. See what we're facing. But stay close... ish. The spirit willing, but the body is a little less so."He laughs lightly, and if there's no argument again creeps ahead down the unexplored hallway.
