Mort spends a few moments talking to the vendor about his gems. He has seemed to take a liking to Mort, and offers him a diamond for 36g.
The group is also able to find a book store with a large stock of spell scrolls. The base prices seem to be 50g for Cantrip level, 100g for Level 1 and 150g for Level 2.
face deep in a pile of books and scrolls, mort turns to nedrick,
”This shop is full of ancient knowledge and mystical power, how could i possibly choose? One thing is certain, we will require more coin. we have four days in this city, perhaps there is work to find and coin to be made”
The book store they are currently in is known as Marlgate's Mystical Monographs. The building itself is on the edge of the market and is 50 feet by 50 feet. The store is a single floor with a tall ceiling of 30 feet. The walls are adorned with book cases that extend from floor to ceiling. There are two windows on the back wall. There are 5 rows of book cases that make most of the interior with about 8 feet for walk ways in between. At the front there is a single purchase area that has a large book that contains the inventory of the store. There are two men efreeti that are behind the counter attending the store currently.
Currently the store has about 15 people inside it not including the party.
“If you are invisible when our battle begins it would allow you to not be targeted first and make sure you are in an advantageous position before striking! No more spending the battle hiking up your robes and running at first!”
Nedrick smiles at Mort.
”In fact! I would be willing to pay the 150 gold for this scroll for you. That means if my understanding of wizards are correct you would need to only spend a measly 100 gold and 2 hours of your time to learn this spell! What a great value!”
Nedrick becomes a little more serious.
”Of course, I would have the stipulation that if I purchase it sometimes at night I may request you cast it in me and concentrate on it for the full hour. I would not want any questions for why I want it I would just want it cast. What do you say?”
Nedrick also wants to look around and see how the security in this place works. With all the book cases what visibility do the Efreeti have?
“no questions asked you say? I can respect that. my skills are yours to use, but silence is a commodity of its own. lets say 15% anytime coin is to be gained, *hiccup* after the initial 150g is paid in full of course.
mort extends his open hand to nedrick to seal the deal.
“Done. Looking forward to a beautiful partnership.”
Nedrick takes the scroll to the front.
”Greetings Proprietors! I wish to purchase this scroll here. What a magnificent shop! I have never been to the city before so I am truly blown away. I am curious would you have any items such as a box made of lead or some other thing that could be used to contain magical items? As you can see I am just starting out in the arcane arts and sometimes in my adventures I may come across items I know not the power of. I would like to be able to seal their powers away where they cannot harm others and where the magic items cannot be tracked by my adversaries.”
Nedrick slides them the 150gp to show he is a serious buyer.
"Welcome! Welcome! Thank you very much for your business outsider. Whilst we believe in an open market, we understand the desires to be private. There is a lock box store down the street. Some of his boxes are lined with the magic absorbing metal lead. You may speak to him if you like. Shall I interest you in any other business today?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
eyes wide and full of excitement, mort approaches the vendor with a scroll of suggestion and 120g
”what a fantastic shop! I will require some deep thought, meditation, and more coin before making any more purchases today, but you can consider me a devoted patron for a long time to come...
In a hushed voice “...perhaps we could let this scroll go a little under...as a sign of good faith to a new client”
persuasion: 18
(ooc: mort will buy the scroll regardless)
“Let me ask you, I am also looking for various magical trinkets and arcane artifacts, might you know a reputable vendor?”
"Good day sir. All vendors in this district are reputable, but I can't say as much for some of the others. I would suggest some of the jewelry stores around the Pyraculum. Now with regards to your offer... I see you are an outsider who have traveled long to see this lovely store." The clerk eyes Mort and says "I see you enjoy the study of books. It is good to see a fellow scholar. How about 140g?"
“deal! i shall return, hopefully to clear your shelfs.”
mort gives the vendor an inquisitive look
”in the meantime, my compatriots and i are looking for a tavern with a vacant room or two, perhaps one where we might offer our skills for a bit of coin.”
"Unfortunately there aren't any inns in the Pyraculum district. For outsiders, I say the best district to get an inn is in the Ikalat district to the south. It should take you about a hour to get there." The shop keeper looks at the clock and says "Seems you have about 8 hours til curfew so make sure you reserve a room soon. They can fill up quite quickly."
"Thank you so much for your assistance my next stop will indeed be the lockbox store and then I'm heading straight for the Inn! I want to make sure I am respectful of all town laws as expected."
Nedrick looks inquisitively at the shop owners.
"Interesting. We will be there well ahead of time but let's say all the rooms were full and some unfortunate souls were forced out onto the street breaking curfew. What would happen to them?"
mort elbows rhaucred and in a hushed voice says “i require some guidance if youd be so kind...” *hiccup*
mort approaches the vendor.
”my good sir, i am in need of a diamond of this size and clarity”
mort motions to a diamond worth at least 50g
”what kind of price can you offer us after brining you such a fine assortment of gemstones?”

”Are our adversaries particularly weak to anything? Do poisons work?”
Nedrick whispers to Mort, “Any spells you are looking for?”

*Rhaucred looks carefully through the spells for anything that sparks similar feelings as the rune and tome he carries.*

Nedrick finds the scroll of invisibility and approaches Mort.
”My dear Wizard friend. Correct me if I’m wrong but from what I’ve see your main weakness is that you are a bit... fragile? So we say?”
Nedrick takes the scroll of Invisibility

The book cases seem to block a lot of vision from the front of the store where the clerks are located.

"Well I suppose you can pay and sleep in the prison over night then!" The clerk lets out a laugh.
Nedrick nods in thanks and wants to go to the Lockbox store. Seeking a lockbox that contains magic items thoroughly.
mort keeps his eye out for a jewelry vendor while traveling to the lockbox shop
