Barnard looks at the two other companions and says "Ah Mort, I was hoping to keep this a more discreet matter.. The more mouths to feed, the less food we each eat. What use can these other two... especially the muscle one... be? We have located an item but we just need help deciphering the arcane lock that is holding it.
Nedrick, Rhaucred:
The male effreeti looks at Nedrick and says "We normally don't allow outsiders to "bounty hunt" for the city unless you are highly qualified. What means do you have to justify your services?"
Nedrick smiles and extends his hands toward the male.
"You said it yourself my good fellow! We are outsiders that you know nothing about. If you know nothing about us, then neither does those who need to be brought in! If you send someone from the city it will give the scoundrel time to flee! But us..."
Nedrick motions to himself and Rhaucred.
"No one would ever expect. Also, I am not familiar with your bounty hunting specifics but in my past experience gold has normally been exchanged after the deed has been done, yes? If this is the case what do you have to lose? If we do not find anyone, you don't have to pay anything. Our justification is producing the results and receiving payment then! It's a Win/Win situation for both of us. Now, doesn't that sound fair enough?"

mort smiles at bernard as he motions to the hulking barbarian
“Surely throughout your adventures youve come to learn of the necessities of having muscle within the party. Just by being in his presence we are all safe from lurking predators waiting to make an easy kill... and need i mention escorting the treasure to saftey??”
mort walks over to TT
“...and TT here, is an expert in all things dealing with natural magic, an ancient dominion, which few truly understand.”
mort walks infront of TT so she can inconspicuously place a hand on mort to cast guidance.
“there are countless situations where my associates will be crucial to the success of any mission. and every adventurer knows that the first step to secure success is preparation.”
mort walks up to bernard and looks him squarely in the eyes
”the quality which my party will bring to the mission is not expensive... its priceless.”
The effretti man behind the desk pauses for a second. Looking Nedrick and Rhaucred up and down. He lets out a long sigh and says "Well you don't look like much but what do I have to lose. If you fail or cause trouble, don't think this conversation ever happened. I will make it as brief as I can. With the recent opening of trade from other realms, let's just say that some of the districts are suffering from "growing pains". A recent group of called The Impenetrable Gauntlet, has recently been taking over trade in the Iskalat district. All their competition just seems to dry up do to various issues with their supplies disappearing, or their families getting sick. There is not enough evidence there to make it a case, but there enough coincidence in the matter that I think it should be investigated. Start there and see what you can deduce. If you find evidence of a crime, we can then give you the bounty and hire you two as experts."
Mort, TT, Hunding:
Barnard looks at Mort and a smile slowly grows across his face. He lets out a short chuckle "Mort! I knew I liked you. They can come! Alright, let us just get this done. I will start describing what we know. Have you ever heard of the Dijinni? They were creatures born from the Elemental Chaos. Having aided the primordials in their ancient battle with the gods, most were imprisoned in common objects and scattered. They embodied the chaotic force of violent storms while possessing benevolent minds. We have tracked one to an ancient tomb in the old country of Unther. The culture was an interesting one and we believe that the dijinni in question was a servant to the occupant of the tomb. These items were protected so he could call on them in the afterlife and in order to protect them, arcane traps were implemented. This is where we need your expertise."
The man explains to Nedrick "The Impenetrable Gauntlet is led by Evylann Hope, but she is not the one who runs the business here on this realm. The one in charge of this division is Santegus Hume. One can recognise a member of The Impenetrable Gauntlet by the dark grey and black livery adorned with an image of a vulture. I would suggest heading over to the markets of the Iskalat district, you should be able to find a few there."
Mort, TT, Rhaucred:
Barnard responds "Not much. We only know it is a tomb from the information we got from a local there. We do not really care about the history of the land, we just need to retrieve the artifact. The tomb is made of sandstone and there is quite a bit of sand around the entrance. That is about as much information that I have to give you. There are markings around the tomb wall, but we don't read their ancient language. Maybe you could understand what they mean."
“ah history of the land can often give astute insight as to what dangers we may face, nonetheless we shall tackle the puzzle together. *hiccup* now, as for these ruins, do you have illustrations or do we need to begin our journey to the tomb?
mort frowns
”...speaking of, how long of a voyage is our trip to Unther? you see, we are visitors to this realm and are unfamiliar with the territories.”
The pair head to the Iskalat district and watch for anyone with the sign of a vulture. After about a hour, they are unable to spot anyone with the mark. (OOC You can try again if you like for the next hour or you can try a different strategy)
Mort, TT, and Hunding
Turtle exits TT's pocket and slinks down to the table where Barnard is eating.
Barnard says to Mort "Unther is on the material realm and we still have the portal open to the town near the tomb. If you like we could travel there in a few minutes just let us finish our breakfast and grab supplies for the day." Barnard then turns back around to see turtle biting off a piece of a dried apple on his plate. "Ah! What is this creature? That is my food you scoundrel!" Barnard then gently slides turtle over about 2 feet away from his plate.
" i just might like a llittle more background on this gauntlet, what kind of beings make up their organization, and what kind of goods they deal in might be good before we head in." Rhaucred shrugs " various things, does anyone know where the group came from?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

“just to recap gentlemen, the plan is as follows: take a portal to a tomb, which we know very little about, to retrieve a common item, which could be heavily guarded or booby trapped, imprisoning an ancient dijinni, which you plan on selling for an undisclosed price to who knows who.”
mort reaches into his robe and takes a swig from the flask
“...i cant help but feel that you are purposely withholding information from us. Believe me, i understand the need for secrecy and you may feel that this information is based on a need to know basis. however if i am to succeed in this adventure, I need every bit of information you have, whether or not you feel like its related to my role in this endeavor.”
While Nedrick is looking for the Vulture, Rhaucred wanders the market asking for more information on the Impenetrable Gauntlet. 19
Rhaucred is able to discern that the group is mostly human and they are known for selling jewelry, weapons and have recently been getting into alchemic items (such as health potions). From who he has questioned, there seems to be a presence of about 15 members that set up tents in the area to sell their goods.
Mort, Hunding, TT:
Barnard leans back in his chair, seemingly slightly concerned by Mort's accusation. He takes a breath and says "We do not know who the client is. The client makes a post to the guild, then the guild releases job postings for us." Barnard turns around and points at the wall in the back. There is a section of the wall that has numerous pieces of paper pinned on it. "Here are the guild task postings. Most of the unique items we pursue are just artifacts from a forgotten time, and are not heavily protected. This is our first time encountering arcane traps. If you think that more knowledge is required, when we go through the portal, we will be in a small town near the tomb. You are free to ask the locals there any questions you desire on information from the tomb."
Nedrick would like to approach the potion provider.
”Ah! A provider of the gifts of Alchemy! What types of potions do you carry and what are your prices? I’m looking for healing potions mainly but always open to more.. creative goods? Or possibly... poisons?”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Rhaucred follows Nedrick to the potions vendor and looks for peciliar actions or signs made by ther potion maker or the workers there while Nedrick speaks.
A short effreti with a scar on his face looks to Nedrik and says "Yeah? Sure, we have potions of course. Currently we have 5 healing potions for 50gp each and then for our specialty potions we have a list over there." Nedrick glances over and sees a sign that reads "TODAY'S SPECIALS!"

Barnard stands up from the table and motions towards the back "Come, let us get going then." Him and Rumlar heads towards a door in the back. You all follow them through to another room that has 4 doors in it. Barnard goes to the third door from the left of the room. He pulls out a key and unlocks it, then motions you all to follow. As you enter in the room, it is about 15 feet by 15 feet, you see a portal sparking at the end of the room. Barnard then closes the door behind you, and locks it...
