Topsy & Turvy
Turvy looks over at Cyndral before whispering something in his sisters ear. Topsy speaks up “Some people don’t speak too kindly about Blingdenstone, we however, quite like it. It’s definitely got better over the last few years. One good thing and I suppose it could be a bad thing too but the guards there don’t let any Drow in unless they are in the company of a svirfneblin that can vouch for them. I think there is a way to the surface from there but I’m unaware of the way. Someone in the city might help”
Eldeth
As the collar slips off El’s neck, the dwarf walks over and takes the gem.
Intelligence 19
“Looks to me like a Carnelian Gemstone, it’s hard to tell in this light. These things normally sell for about 20 - 25 gold”
The group stands and listens to El’s plan
(OOC - Cyndral’s role was enough to get out of the shackles which means that Tobias, Verim and Turvy are the only ones still chained)
"Now we're talking" says Gnarls in his head. "We'll need to be quick on those guards in order to keep them from raising an alarm or alerting the others. I can try and pin one -- i'm pretty strong for my size"
”I’m willing to start an argument if that is what’s needed, unless you would like me to try and coax a guard here by other means, I can ask a guard for medicine or at least assistance for a higher priced prisoner set for ambush if we say that they have sustained injury and Ilvara will not be pleased to find a humanoid of great worth at deaths door, this may coax the assistance from a medical professional whom may bring medical supplies with them aiding us all in the heat of combat if such a matter should arise? I don’t want to put a price on everyone but this may be an option we can adapt then coax a guard in afterwards with the coin, the guards to bring the medical assistance and that person also may have keys for elsewhere in the complex, breaking out to find we are locked in everywhere else is certainly not what I want to happen” Can we agree on this? Finding our equipment will also require keys I can imagine? El I can imagine greatly that crossbows are equipped by the guards on the tower, I think everyone needs a dedicated role for certain, we just need a list of people strengths, magic users such as myself will be of disadvantage however I have also learnt to use a blade. Strength can be useful against the guards especially of we can use the chains for strangulation from behind? Gnarls the patrol has gone back to three protecting the gate, that woman has disappeared however, I was unable to see where she went, I’m sorry”
Verim will walk over to Stool still speaking telepathically
“Thank you for making our conversations with everyone easier, it’s of great help, I am unaware of your species but am fascinated by your anatomy, I wonder if you can perhaps do anything else with your spores, it’s a lot to ask but anything to aid us in escape would be of benefit to us all?”

"Here you are." Tobias hands the flint shard to Cyndral. He looks around and seeing that most have shed their chains he tries again to slip his off.
Strength 9
The half-orc slumps back down in defeat. "Oh, well. I don't believe it's the best idea to be unchained at the moment. Again, I need to find my belongings. I'm in need of my amulet. Also, you all seem to be too quick to rush out of here without knowing a thing about where we are, where we're going. Once we get out of this cell, what's the plan? We have to be quick, but we can't be quick without knowing where we need to go once out there," he jerks a thumb towards the door. "Too many unknowns right now to plan a good escape. We need to take our time. Try to gather more... I don't remember much before today, but they have let us out of these cells in these past days. How else did we come by what we found so far? We're not moving anywhere soon. They wouldn't allow us to have our sense back and regain our strength unless they have work for us to do around here."
The Quaggoth stands again “This does sound like a good plan. I must admit that I’m not much of a fighter but this form does have the benefits of strength”
Buppido
“Give me something sharp and pointy and I’ll make sure they never see again!”
Eldeth
“I can fight if I have a weapon”
Ront
“Ha! Dwarves and their weapons! Ront will rip their heads from their necks with hands”
Sarith
“My Drow Spellcasting is useless inside this cell. Maybe their spells won’t work in here either”
JimJar
”I’m a better fighter from afar with something more ranged. I bet that if we get something like that then I’ll be able to hit something”
Stool
“I’m no fighter, my spores just help with communication, they help tell other Myconids like myself if I’m in danger but only if their close enough. I fear that they are not”
The rest of the group appear to stay reasonably quiet, you get the impression that they are less willing or capable of hurting people but they will do what they need to.
The Large Kuo-Toa nods in agreement to Tobias’ point “Agree with Tobias I do. Worked outside this cellll I have. Memories of what is out there I have not. A pllllan is to be made before out of this cellllll we walk”
El thinks on this for a second, then looks around the room weighing up the general mood. "I agree, more information may be useful but on the flipside the Underdark's unpredictable layout and secret passages may be our advantage. Though the Drow and other creatures live here there is still probably passages they are unaware of, that possibility aside any routes we learn of will be garnered from the Drow Guards which means they will know them too. One isn't necessarily a better option than the other but I want to lay out our options here. The longer we stay here the more likely we'll be separated, have our findings confiscated or drugged again, personally I don't like the odds of us finding ourselves in as good a position again. If we are to go with my plan I definitely think getting medical supplies should be high priority, though calling them over might arouse suspicions giving them more time to plan for an ambush. Getting weapons shouldn't be a problem once we start taking down guards, each one will almost certainly have something of use and if we can prevent them from alerting the tower then sneaking there shouldn't be too much of a problem, especially if we get our magic back. I have a plan for finding out wear our stuff is but it means we have to act sooner rather than later."
Cyndral shrugged, tucking the would-be knife away quickly and turning to offer to help Tobias slip his bonds rather than shattering them.
"I'm afraid I'm going to have to concede the point on this one, escapes and subterfuge are not areas I'm familiar with. My talents lie in spellcraft and diplomacy, and I fear neither of these will do us much good under our current circumstances. I don't imagine Ilvara or that Shoor fellow will be open to sitting down and having a chat about letting us go. This city of deep gnomes sounds like a brilliant place to head, but how far is it? I cannot imagine it's anywhere near an outpost such as this." He paused, the thought of 'nor do I imagine they'll let me inside' hanging in his mind, but he decided to deal with that particular bugbear when it was necessary.
"Since we all seem to have a mutual interest in escaping this place without loss of our own lives, if say perhaps we should focus on just what we need to for now. Grab just enough weaponry and perhaps water and medicine if we're so lucky to make it out on our own, assess our approximate location during our flight, and head toward the nearest settlement to get more properly equipped before we either develop a long-term plan or go our own ways. I shan't presume to speak for you all, but I've had just about enough of the Underdark for one expedition. If any of you has a solid plan for escape now, consider me at your side and willing to improvise as we go."
"If you want to go to Blingdenstone then you'll have to cross the Darklake and you don't want to do that. Instead, we could go around the lake and head south to Gracklstugh. The armorers there will be able to help fix you all up with something"
Shuushar
"Ask I must, what is wrong with crossing the Darklllake? Know the llllake well I do. Crossing is easy when knowing where to go you do. Go to Sllloobllludoop to get boats we can"
Stool
"If we go to Gracklstugh, we can make it to the Neverlight Grove! The sound of home always fills me with joy but not so much as now! My people will be grateful for my return and offer the you all shelter and aid"
JimJar
"We don't need to cross the lake or go South. We can take the North route and go straight to Blingdenstone! Although if we are going South, I would quite like to see the Grove"
Sarith
"You want to go North? Passing right by Menzobarranzen? Going to Blingdenstone in the first place puts us right near the city, going North practically gets us to pass by the front door"
Drendil
"If we can all just calm down for one moment and focus on our current predicament. Getting to a safe place once we leave truly does sound lovely but for now we need to focus on getting out of this blasted cell"
“ I do relish the idea of where we will go next, but we first need to figure out how to open this gate, looking around we do have the chamber pots we can use to smash over the heads of our enemies but I believe I lack the strength to do so. Cyndral I understand and am also in the same predicament as you, I’d much prefer be forthcoming and resolve this matter with words but we cannot do this. If we can use the flint along with the rope to wrap around the hinges of the gate we may even be able to execute a silent escape by breaking them silently therefore allowing the stronger individuals to lift he gate aside, alas a distraction would still be needed, if we all work together in hoisting the gate and cushioning the fall we might be able to break loose without the guards being the wiser? Unless someone is handy with a flint in such a way as to pick the lock? May I also ask if anyone has any natural acids which can be used to melt the lock? We can acquire the keys from a guard once we have exited the cells? This is all I can think at this current time, without Mystra to guide me I am limited in my ability, with that I apologise, however I will try and assist wherever I can, once I’m free from this cell I will ask my goddess to restore my power and I’ll be able to aid much greater.”
Verim will look for a stone or brick in the cell and inspect the runes and using his knowledge of whether or not he has seen the runes beforewithin the cell in order to decipher them to figure out how to get his magic back.
"Sounds like we have a choice: Ask for a doctor and maybe get some medicine to help us, or make a ruckus in here to draw the guards that way and ambush. I feel like the former has more risk with the benefit of some healing items, whereas the latter seems more likely to work. I vote for the latter myself. I dont like our chances of opening the door silently without attracting LOTS of attention."
Gnarls shifts impatiently, wanting to directly and quickly deal with the predicament.
Weighing the two options carefully, Cyndral flicked his flint shard between his hands. It had been a while since he used such a crude implement, or any melee weapon, but he'd still be better off with something light like this. With a stern nod he looked to Gnarls, hoping they knew what they were talking about.
"As terrifying as it is, I think you are correct, the second more direct plan might be our best gambit. If that structure across the bridge is indeed a watchtower, perhaps we can equip ourselves there, if we don't die here first. Let's get everyone who is capable and willing to fight free of their chains first, then be sure to get those armed few in the front. We're only going to get one shot at this, I'm sure if we try to escape and fail, the consequences will be dire."

El inspects the door, feeling as much as seeing the lock (Investigation 20)
"I agree, there are most likely alarm wards placed on the door, though if not that idea is certainly more appealing. I happen to be quite apt with a lock pick but can't promise I'll get the job done with just the flint, also the chance of the door being alarmed still remains. On the other hand there is always a chance that the guards will take precautions if we attempt to fool them, this could potentially render the entire plan null and void. Setting that aside for now, once we are out of the cell I hope our magic will return, if that is the case I can use mine to aid in our escape, though I am limited when it comes to causing harm with spells. Beyond that I can most likely gather information about our gear though if not we will be forced to search the tower or leave without it. While I would love to choose a path as you all are suggesting, I also wish to leave our options open in the event that one or more of those routes are blocked. Also I'll add that once I am free to use my magic I can heal those of us who are injured"
Verim can't find any rocks or bricks that are free within the cell. There are a couple of small stones but nothing of any weight or size. He touches the pulsing blue symbols embedded into the cell walls and can't get any more information other than the fact that these runes are what is stopping the use of any powers within this cell.
El looks around the gate, making sure to not stand too close for the time being. The lock is quite well made, a large keyhole suggests that the key required needs to be of a sufficient size. There are however, no signs of any traps or alarms built in or around the gate.
(DM: If we broke the legs off the benches would we have a few more 'clubs'?)
"We have a third option - Wait... We can execute either method at any time. Surely we have at least one day to try and get a better grasp of our situation?"
"True but we have no idea if our situation will stay the same, what if they only left for an hour? What if the guards simply forgot to drug us again and will remember any minute now. I don't want to risk the opportunity we have right now, but if everyone really wants to wait then we will. Do we need to vote?
"That priestess was certainly adamant that we be awake and was concerned that we were no longer under the effects of the poison, so I don't believe we need to worry about your last point."
"That priestess was certainly adamant that we be awake and was concerned that we were no longer under the effects of the poison, so I don't believe we need to worry about your last point."
"I fear that means the time is close for us to be sold. I don't want to be here when whatever she wants us awake for shows up. Waiting seems like a good way to die." Gnarls pulls his coin out and flips it in the air again. "I won't wait to be slaughtered. If I die, I die fighting. Positions everyone! Be ready. Verim, there is just one tower yes? Be prepared to rush it if we don't acquire a way to take that guard down from a distance. Those who don't feel capable of fighting do what you can -- trip, grab, anything to give our enemy more to think about. Someone get this in the Drow's mouth as quickly as possible so he doesn't scream. Ront, smash the hell out of whoever comes through that door. I'll do my best to grapple him when he approaches me"
Gnarls rips off his tunic/shirt and holds it out with one hand. With the other he closes his fist around the coin, prepared to throw it against the well and start a commotion.

Gnarls pulls his coin out and flips it in the air again.
