Aradurk DEX Save: 15 Aradurk DEX Save: 21
Aradurk tries to inch along the deck toward the handaxe, but the motion of the ship forces him to remain in place just to keep from sliding away prematurely.
Below, Rycider looks to clear the courtyard of any individuals who might be in the way of the ship, but the courtyard is as empty as the ramparts above. It seems no one is home.
The rest of the party leaps from the ship, trusting Wes to slow their descent. The wizard comes through, and the party quickly (but not too quickly) falls, landing spread across the courtyard to find Rycider nearby with Karst's magical battleaxe in tow. The slaad is nowhere in sight during your fall or landing, but when Wes and Aradurk head to the gates of the hall, they find the broken and battered form of the slaad laying dead outside of the courtyard walls.
There is just enough time to clear out before the spiraling Dumb Luck III comes crashing to the ground. Grazing multiple walls on the way down, and barely avoiding a crash into the tower, Dugan is somehow able to force it to the ground, landing quite hard with a tremendous noise. Part of the deck caves in, and the large mast snaps, teetering over to lean against a wall in the courtyard.
After a worrying moment, two forms emerge from the wreckage - Sergeant Dugan, carrying Ser Mary Glendale in his arms. "That's going to need extensive repairs," Dugan says, coughing. "Where is everyone?"
Ser Glendale stirs, clutching the wound created by the slaad. "The slaadi...shapechangers...they are going for the portal," she mutters. She looks around crazed, finally settling her eyes on Wes and speaking to him directly. "If they force it open without knowing the command word...you know what will happen. It won't just be the Master's Hall that it destroys. The explosion could destroy all of Sundabar. Please...stop them...shut it down," she slumps over, unconscious.
OOC: Removed Aradurk's handaxe from his inventory while it is lost within the wreckage of the airship.
Catching up on some XP rewards, each character has received 300 XP for discovering the crystals used to control the shield guardians, 500 XP for using the ladders to avoid Denorian's iron golems, and 600 XP for protecting enough of the airship's moorings to allow a hard landing within the Master's Hall, for a total of 1400 XP.

"Good work Wes." Karst nods to the gnome as he makes off towards Rycider "May I relieve you of that? I can't stand being unarmed in the middle of a fight." Karst takes the axe when it is offered before continuing "I'm no expert on the magic but it seems our course is clear, we need to get to that portal and protect it from the slaadi." He seems ready to go then pauses "Do we know the password? If so we could stop the city from being destroyed even if we cannot stop the slaadi in battle, on second thoughts that would give them control of the portal and might end up being worse! Does anyone know much about these portals?"
“Damnit! This is bad. I only know the password, not the command word to initiate it. If they use the portal without the password.... we all will burn, the city will be reduced to rubble and ash. We must go quickly now, I’m afraid that I will be little use as I used the last of my magic abilities saving us from the fall..... too greedy, should’ve rested and not looked over that equipment. Petunia would’ve told me better, wish she was still here.” Wes kind of trails of thinking about his familiar. “Follow me! The portal is this way.”
Wes will lead the group too focused on the mission to think about stealth.
Along the way while making sure we are out of earshot Wes will gather the group quickly. “If I fall or perish, the password is “Dumb Luck”. We need to use the password or the portal will explode when they try to use it. It’s not going to look like much, I spent much of my time disguising it with an enchantment.” Wes pauses for a moment. “But what if that’s exactly what they want us to do? Maybe they need us to say the password so they CAN use it? How can I trust the words of Roccar when we’ve obviously been played?”
Obviously preventing the devastation of ah city takes precedence over all else. If an an army come out, an army comes out, but a crater where ah city used to be aint something we can do much about.Rycider says keeping up with Wes
I though occurs.says Ricky What was Not-Roccars mission? To convince us in to use the password? Should we continue the deception and see where it leads us?
As she says this Rycider will change her form into that of Roccar's Disguise Self
Tanakir nods grimly as everyone discusses the portal, ”Whatever can be done, we must do. I just fear it won’t be enough. There is a chance that the slaadi are unaware of the dangers of opening the portal, and we can convince them not to, but I doubt it will be that easy.”
Aradurk will examine Ser Glendale's wounds to determine how badly she is injured. He picks her up and takes her to get healed.
"Roccar is not the villain in this. That creature is creating dissension by wearing his visage but make no mistake, Roccar AND Glendale are good people."
OOC: Karst's +1 battleaxe has been added to his inventory. Each character has received 100 XP.
Wes finds the slaad body to be strangely devoid of the purple gem. It is not carrying anything else.
Sergeant Dugan nods gratefully to Aradurk as he picks Ser Glendale up. Visibly, she looks battered, but only carries one significant wound from the slaad on the airship. She is stable, and will likely recover. "I will be of no use to you against those things. I will cart her out of here and get her to safety. Both of us owe our lives to you. You have my thanks," Dugan says.
With Rycider replaced by a magical Roccar disguise, Wes leads you in a race to the portal room, deep beneath the Master's Hall, through a labyrinth of tunnels and caverns. A glow emanates from the doorway when you arrive, which you find to be unlocked.
Even knowing your foe, the view inside the room is still startling. Roccar stands in front of a portal full of swirling arcane energies. At his side are Aradurk and Rycider - or at least two very convincing duplicates.
"Stand down!"Roccar shouts at you, "We have secured the portal. It is over, you filthy slaadi! I know not whether there are people among you, but if you test me, you will fail."
For Wes:
You are familiar with the state of the portal. When energy is flowing in this way, the portal is unlocked but not yet active.
OOC: This is another "social encounter" of this adventure. How does each character respond, in either first or third person?
Aradurk's studies Roccar and the two duplicates. "Roccar - we need to talk about your crappy choice in friends. That guy, ", pointing to Aradurk, "is a real prick. Your lady friend is hot but I don't think she has your best interest in mind."
Wes steps forward “You know me. The first time I met you from picking us up from the tower in your airship. I said “Wes Fiddletum, pleased to meet you.“ as my fair Petunia sat on the deck next to you, watching me struggle up the ladder. You trusted me to protect this portal l, to which I have failed. We do not mean to test you, but to aid. The two creatures next to you are the Slaadi, not us. We must stop them together!” The exhausted gnome pleads holding his hand and wand out readying himself for anything.
Roccar-Ricky will walk away from the group toward the Slaadi and their overly confused Roccar. In a voice that sounds eerily like the Slaadi from the ship she will address the fake Rycider.
They have the password but not the command. They are very confident that we are going to cause an explosion.
Ricky tries to gauge from her brief rundown if the Slaadi actually want an explosion or were unaware of the possibility.

"Dumb luck"he shouts towards the portal before adding "I like you though Wes, I will kill you last."The creature then lunges towards Tanakir slashing at him with his claws and attempting to bite him with razor sharp teeth. "You on the other hand have very little time left."
As we were all grouped together, Karst’s attack on Tanakir will provoke my Sentinel Attack.
