Wes gives a slight smile that creeps from the corner of his mouth. “Wonderful! Good show.” He says cheerfully. Meanwhile Petunia is going ecstatic: chirping away, running in circles, and smiling as big as a weasel could.
”How about that drink?” He says back in his mild tone.
"I will happily get this round in my friend, well deserved. Tanakir, my apologies, my concentration wavered, tha fault was mine not yours." Karst bows to both his friends and then goes to get the ales.

Tanakir waves his hand dismissively and follows Karst, "Nonsense, my friend. We will share in this defeat together, although it will be a little one, as I've never known Wes to be that much of a drinker."
Roccar's jovial tone soon darkens. "There is something I must tell you. Before we head to the tavern," he says. When the mood has settled, and he has the party's attention, he continues.
"Fumbles...has fallen. Even though some of you only knew him from your work at the Lonely Tower, I believe Aradurk and Karst can further attest to his character. He had dedicated himself entirely to discovering a way to see through a slaad's shapeshifting to its true form. He found it; and he died for it. He was discovered, and he sacrificed himself...brought a tunnel down on himself and a handful of slaadi to ensure that adventurers he had only met that very day could make it safely to the portal and escape Sundabar - the very same adventurers we wait for now."
He clears his throat and finishes, "Fumbles died with his knowledge. The road ahead will be much harder now. I hope that together, we will be enough."
"But could the research be recreated, Wes and other fine minds like his might be able to recreate Fumbles' work, surely there is something that can be salvaged from his sacrifice."The aasimar looks at Aradurk "It shames me how I could not find it in me to trust him when we met, even threatening to take his life when all the time that elf was pulling our strings. I will make sure the vengeance for our lost friend and comrade in arms comes swiftly to these slaadi. Wherever they go, Hoar and his retribution will find them." The holy zeal causes the white orbs of his eyes to blaze , the control wavering causing the skin around the paladin's eyes to smoke as he starts to burn from within, feeling the fire threatening to cause harm he focusses on himself and slowly the heat dies down, the pale skin around his eyes blackened creating a ferocious face.

Aradruk's expression goes taciturn. "It pains me to see him gone. I would certainly be pleased to know there is a way to see through the slaadi deception. What do we know of these adventurers and how do we know if there are deceivers among them?"

"I do not doubt Wes's prowess - he was successfully able to create a portal with unearthed arcana that could bypass the blocking of normal teleportation, after all - but it is even worse than just losing knowledge. The slaad discovered Fumbles' workshop and his secret society, and put it all to the torch. The only survivors of that night were the four adventurers who stumbled upon Fumbles - by sheer luck, it seems."
"I do not know them well, but Fumbles trusted them with the knowledge of the portal beneath Sundabar, so I trust them as well. On top of that, they have selflessly dedicated themselves to recovering some stolen equipment of a friend of mine. They are also aware of the slaad incursion, and are as prepared to deal with deception as all of you,"Roccar says.
Wes nurses his drink as Petunia curls up around his neck purring almost, as she lets out a low rumbling vocalization. “Well we need to figure out what the Slaad endgame is. We’ve only been given cryptics and terroristic strikes. Once we know what they’re after, then we can shed light on how to counter them. Is Denorian still out there? I know he was being consumed with the madness of sorting out this mess. But he was a friend to Fumbles. He knew before we did that he was slain, he may know more.”

OOC: Are we in the tavern now? If so..
Rycider will ask for a mead when the drink order comes to her. She will then approach the Performer in Residence and ask if she can do a few songs. She will give any monies made to the In-House Bard.
She will then produce her Dulcimer and recite a sad song on the loss of a friend. It is slow and mournful but uplifting in it's tale of comradery. At the conclusion she will silently raise a glass.
To those we have lost.
She sculls her mead and after a moment to let those around embrace or give thanks, she launches into a more upbeat tune. A tale of a clumsy troll and it's comical attempts to swoon a girl.
Aradurk, ale in hand, takes a long pull. “Ry - that last song hits a little close to home”, Aradurk states. “The last time I got laid, igneous rock was still lava.”
