Zeph would keep the tiger eye and 10 coins before handing the rest of what he found to the captain to distribute. "I am sure these scrolls are worth some money but they arn't nearly shiny enough to keep my interest!" he would say as he holds the tiger eye to his own eye, inspecting it closley.
"I agree Zin, we'll head inland for a bit get away from the edge at least - unfortunately we are heading in the same general direction as the harpy flew off in, I think we are going to need to stay sharp lads, Zin, keep Floki company up front. We need to make sure he is ready for shooting so let's keep hold of this cargo and let Zin have his hands free, Floki can take his bail for a bit, I want that longbow ready and firing as quick as possible if the need arises." Vhon picks up his own bail and makes his way along, letting the Zin and Floki get a little way ahead before moving after them.
Zephyr would pick up his bail of silk and take of jumping down the the path, enjoying the view and the wind blowing through his fur as his clothing whips around in the breeze until the effects of his spell wear off.
Zin puts an arrow in hand and moves to the front of the line and sets off.
"C'mon Floki. I'd like another shot at that harpy if I can. I'm pretty sure I put an arrow between its shoulder blades when it flew off. Maybe that was enough to keep it from coming back. Off nursing its wounds I suppose."
The party continues to make its way south following the coastline. After about two hours of walking they come across a small estuary formed by a small river flowing down from the hills too deep to ford. They follow the stream inland until the find a point where they can cross (OOC: See second map in Public Notes – note: South is at the top of the page). After crossing the river they find that it is not possible to get back to the coastline, perhaps a blessing in disguise for who knows what lurks on the cliffs and they have to go some way inland. After about walking for eight miles – most of the afternoon – they come over a hill and see a small town laid out beneath them (OOC: See first map in Public Notes – note: North is at the top of the page)
Note: North is at the top of the Map.
Joining the path they have been following is another path coming in from the North that follows the cliff line. A bit beyond the junction of the two paths they can see a small stone building in front of a graveyard. Planted firmly in the front of building and whipping in the wind are four banners – two either side of the path up to front door – emblazoned with a storm cloud and three downward pointing lighting bolts.
Floki takes his share of the treasure but is otherwise silent on the walk. When they see the building and Floki recognises the symbol of Valkur he grins."Ah that is good to see! Followers of the right God! Captain, I recommend we go inside and get a gauge of our location."
Not caring which stone he takes, Gilly picks up one of the obsidian stones and pockets it, as well as 10 of the coins. For a while after they start walking, Gilly jokes around with Zephyr about his use of magic and almost over jumping the nest. But all the walking even quiets down the blue firbolg. He hums a little and whistles a little, but doesn't talk much.
When they reach the town, he perks up again. "You can have your worship house," he comments to Floki. "I wanna find something to wet my throat!"
"I will be entering as well, you can wait outside Gilly if you want, in fact you can keep an eye on the cargo, we'll go and get a drink or three afterwards but after the day we've had I'd like to say a prayer to the Captain of the Waves."Vhon goes inside without checking that the others are coming or not, after dropping his bail of silk gently at Gilly's feet.

Zephyr would stay with Gilly, setting his bail of silk on top of the captains. Watching the others head into the temple, he would turn his head towards the firbolg. "I ain't much for praying.. Maybe I should be.. I mean.. my powers I guess come from somewhere... and I'm glad I have them.. but I don't know. " The tabaxi will say looking down towards his feet.
"My village worships Grond Peaksmasher. He carved the Moonshae Isles out of a single piece of rock and the leftovers became the firbolg, while the rubble became the dwarves," Gilly says as if reciting chapter and verse — with little conviction, but not in a mocking way. He gives a little shrug. "My mother taught all of her children to revere the demigod, but the older I get, the more I can find wrong with the idea of gods deciding what happens and what doesn't. Of course, it's nice to have someone other than yourself to blame, right?" He smiles at Zephyr and gives the tabaxi a playful slap on the shoulder.
"That is true" The tabaxi would say with a smile "I didn't mean to steer out boat into that reef! The Gods made me do it .. it was fate!" he would say jokingly with a laugh waiving his hands above his head. A moment later he would bend over to roll out just enough silk for him to lay on on the ground with his head against the remainder of the bail.
"I've lived in this village in the past though it's been several years now. I even served in their marines protecting the village from pirates. I wonder if any that I know are still around. Some good people live in this town."
When Zephyr jokes about running the ship into the reef, Gilly clucks his tongue. "I'm just as much to blame," the bard consoles. "I was the one in the crows nest. That freak storm took us all by surprise. It's a wonder we weren't kill't! Probably, your skill kept us alive, and we're all in your debt," he grins.
After the elf reveals his connection to the town, Gilly smiles at Zinleth. "Any old girlfriends we might be on the lookout for?" he teases.
"I'm too young to have old girlfriends somewhere. Besides this elf is in love with the sea. Maybe in a couple centuries I'll find a pretty elf maiden to settle down with."
"Well you can name yer kids after me then! I'll be long dead so I won't be using the name anymore" The tabaxi would say from his resting position on the silk.
Floki follows the captain into the worship house, letting the others sit down and relax. He looks over his shoulder and calls out, "We shan't be long!"
Once they are inside, he looks around for the high priest or leading cleric.
As Gilly, Zeph and Zin put their bales down and sit in the weak sunshine chewing the fat and regaling each other with stories, Vhon Cedark, closely followed by Floki walk into the small temple. In keeping with Valkur’s non-ostentatious nature it is a small temple built of grey stone with most of the nave (central part of the temple) open to the sky. Tall ironwood columns reminiscent of a ships masts and festooned with vibrantly hued sails, mainly blue and white stripes, flutter and flap constantly line either side of the nave. The walls are festooned with nautical paraphernalia such as harpoons, whale bones, and a ship’s wheel as well as many images of albstrosses. As the two crew members walk deeper into the temple, a door to one side opens and a one-legged man comes stomping out. He is dressed in blue and white robes and has a cutlass scabbarded on his belt. His peg-leg has been carved from whale bone and is covered in scrimshaw carvings showing various whaling scenes. He stretches out a hand and says “the blessing of the Captain of the Waves be upon you! My name is Wellgar Brinehanded, how can I help?”

“Vhon is it, pleased ta meet ya!”the Priest says. He continues “If’n yer talkin’ bout the storm a couple of days back, yer right it came out of nowhere. Even though it is Storm month we usually get some signs that a storm is brewing but we got none that time! It did do some damage ‘round ‘ere washin’ a few fishin’ boats ashore, and such like, but reckon the main storm hit further up the north coast, so I’m guessin’ that’s where yer ran aground? What was yer ship carryin’ and where was she bound for?” Before waiting for a reply he goes on “anyways you’ve ended up at the town of Llandrain on the north coast of Snowdown. It’s a fishing and whalin’ town more ‘an anythin’ else – we ship fish, whale oil and other products all over Isles plus back ta the mainland but recently it looks like some dwarves reckon there’s something in the sea cliffs worth lookin’ at in more detail. Capital’s down south at Caer Westphal but they don’t bother us much.” He then gestures further back into the Temple “you and your crew mate” indicating Floki “are more than welcome to thank the Captain of the Waves for surviving the storm!”
