After lunch/dinner, I will thank Jack for his time and the information. Turning to Brandy Ricavor says "I think we should wait here for our other companions before we go any further. We can make plans then."
How does the honey butter and bread taste? How was the meal in general. If it is good, Brandy will complement those who made all the above and tip Sarah 1sp for her great service. Brandy will agree with Ricavor to stay and wait for our companions. When Jack leaves, but not trying to get rid of him, Brandy will share all that was said to him by Sarah.
The meal was great hot bread with melted honey butter .. Jack finishes his meal and drains his mug "well its back to work for me with a wink he gives Sarah some coin "great as always" he turns to you two ":thanks again and good hunting" turns and leaves to return to the guild hall
As Brandy and Ricavor discuss the information gathered, Brandy will look around the tavern to see who all is there without being to obvious. If Sarah should come by, Brandy will ask her about Jack. Like, what is his story. He will have a 1sp on the ready, if she wants some money to answer the question. If there are others in the room, Brandy will say to Ricavor, that the discussion of any plans would best be done in private with the rest of our crew.
Ricavor replies to Brandy "I agree. There are too many ears in here." We will wait for Ulwin to come back. In the meantime I will go to the bar and ask Sarah if there is a private room we might rent.
FYI- I've been trading emails with John. The short version is that he will not be able to join us for the PbP game. he is busy designing an online course for the university. That along with his summer reading list just doesn't leave him much time.
Ulwin will join Ricavor and Brandy after he has finished speaking with the local rouges guild. He will tell that they had no information about these bandits.
Several hours have passed it is about 6 when ulwin arrives, Several guards have come in for an evening meal appears to be shift change. A gnome is assisting Sarah with cleaning tables Sarah hands you a key 2nd floor first door on the right smiles and says on the house and goes back to taking the soldiers orders
I suggest to the others that we use the private room for a planning session. Once we get there I will ask Ulwin to look for any spy holes or places where we might be overheard. I suggest to the others that we look into getting a wagon and several pairs of manacles. and then go looking for trouble near the bridge.
Sarah informs you that Jack is a trader and runs caravans from several locations supplying the fort and local shops with goods. He is also a great card player and got the nickname one eyed jack for he likes playing that game.
Brandy says to Sarah, "He seems like a pleasant fellow and makes for good company." Brandy asks Sarah if there are any private meeting rooms that he and his mates can use?
Sarah already gave us a key for the private room. I would like to get a wagon with an iron loop bolted to the floor. We can use this to run chains and manacles off of so we can bring back prisoners. There is a higher bounty for live prisoners. If necessary I will use my position of privilegefeature to get the equipment from Krackenhammer.Persuasion 17
Sorry gentlemen, I didn't see the post that said Sarah gave us a key for a room.
I assume Ulwin has properly scouted out the room? If so and all is clear, Brandy will agree that capturing them would be the just and good thing to do. Brandy will also say that, "if we get the wagon, how shall we disguise it to make it appear worth ambushing? The bandits will not be drawn out by a big caravan or a prison wagon. We know a lonely traveler will be more tempting and that seems to be their mode of operation. One of us could drive the wagon while the others spring a trap. Even getting the wagon must be a secret for we do not know how much they know." Brandy will volunteer to drive the wagon. He says, "A halfling, traveling alone, could wet their appetites for some ill-gotten gain."
Krackenhammer tells you to see the quartermaster hands you a order directing the quartermaster to give you what you have requested, directs you to the barn behind the inn.
The room checks out fine a single bed, table with 3 chairs no windows and a small fireplace, a small oil lamp on the table and 2 candles on the nightstand
"We can disguise the wagon simply by putting a cover over the top. (think of a Conestoga wagon) Ulwin and I could hide inside the wagon and jump out an ambush the ambushers. I also have an order, signed by Krackenhammer, to get the wagon, manacles, etc. from the quartermaster. Unless Krackenhammer and the quartermaster are involved we should be OK on that front."
"I will go and see the quartermaster and make arrangements to pick up the wagon in the morning. After that we should just head out along the road to Lorraine, being extra vigilant near the river bridge." Ricavor says to his companions.
Don- what is the scale on the regional map? How far is it to the bridge, etc.?"
Sarah returns with your meal 2 new loafs of bread and honey butter and refills drinks then goes back to tending bar

Ulwin will return to the tavern and join Ricavor and Brandy and inform them that even the local underworld doesn't know anything about these attacks.

Well play by post the game will take considerable time so perhaps John will have the opportunity in a few months

Brandy, will make sure Sam is well cared for while we are gone. "I don't think he should be pulling the wagon," says Brandy.
