Lynneah raises an eyebrow as she drains her mug of ale and sets it down on the table. "I hate to interrupt, but we've learned... quite a lot in the past few weeks, and we seem to be getting ahead of ourselves. Maybe we should slow down for just a moment, before we think about our next steps, and make sure we adequately explain all the information we've gathered."
"As I'm sure you remember, those of us that headed for Kraghammer initially did so to pursue rumors that both Damien Long and Lady Vadana had been sighted there. Our journey was challenging but worthwhile. We discovered some corruption in a place that is holy to followers of the Moonweaver, which we were able to cleanse, along with a bizarre and confusing time-loop inn. When we arrived in Kraghammer, we made the mistake of splitting up: Hao, Jezerin, and Sol went to see the Elementalist, where they joined forces with Nim, while Zurik, Valasca, and I went to see the Ironkeeper. It was, unfortunately, nothing more than a well-laid trap. We awoke in a dungeon, made our escape, and clashed with followers of the Crawling King. Bastards."
"I don't recall when exactly we discovered that Ironkeeper Ironfist was working closely with Lady Vadana and Damien Long, but the most important thing is that three of them are avatars, vessels for one of the Lords of the Abyss, the Prince of Deception. I fear that speaking his true name will attract.. the wrong kind of attention. When we returned to Meniirthun, the Queen and her court informed us of three immensely powerful artifacts that could redeem Damien Long. It would be challenging, perhaps deadly, but not impossible, and we would need to decide whether it would be worth it to expend the effort. Regarding the schism among the Remnants that Jezerin mentioned before: the dragonborn and the tiefling claim to serve the Whispered One, but it sounds like their true intentions lie elsewhere, most likely with the Queen of Rot- as they've actually successfully contacted her- or perhaps the Prince of Deception. The rest of the Remnants are hoping to overtake the portals the Lords of the Abyss are opening and use them to give the Whispered One an entry point to the material plane. Oh! And as for these portals, the ones to the Feywild appear to be the most vulnerable to corruption leaking into the material plane. The Queen believes that the main issue is one of lay line intersections, like the Grotto, being manipulated and fought over."
Lynneah's eyes turn now to Kelda, Kradyn, and the new faces at the table. Her gaze lingers on them, questioning but not unkind. "So... you made it to Whitestone, where everything is safe and sound. Lovely. What are the members of Vox Machina like? What do you mean, you learned "a little too much" about yourselves? We haven't seen or heard anything from you all. I want to hear all about your adventures, too! Oh, by the way... does anyone have any suggestions for staying in touch with a little more consistency? Maybe something with a written record?"
At the far end of the table, Anahida silently admires all the faces around her. She doesn't need to eat, or drink, but she does anyway- anything to stay at the table a little longer. She smiles into her mug of ale, basking in the near-forgotten warmth of close camaraderie.
Or I should be able to very soon, with a little more practice and experience.
Is this the place to set up new game dates? It sounds like we won't be able to meet for a little while due to scheduling, but did we rule out Friday eve?
Tahn’ Rahk enters the room with a loud yawn, sounding like that of a lion. Smelling the food, he approaches the table. “Good Morning, Princess!” As Kelda introduces him to the Valasca and the Kraghammer group, he smiles, puts his fist over his heart and bows in respect. (For those who are not familiar with what he looks like, he’s an anthropomorphic Lion. Head and tail of a Lion, humanoid body covered in fur. Parts of his mane are braided on the side) “It’s a honor to meet the princess’s other fellow adventurers. I look forward to aiding you on the journey ahead.” He looks over at Garlic just as he spills the ale over. “A pseudodragon? Interesting.” He gives a little smile.
As the reports begin, he quietly eats every now and then. When Jezerin mentions Gatshadow, Tahn’ Rahk’s head shoots up and recalls the battle he witnessed between the gloomstalkers and gargoyles near the peak of Gatshadow not that long ago. His face goes from concerned to determined and says, “Long-term, I can assist with cleansing the Feywild and The Shadowfell. I know with Queen Delphine’s assistance we can gain access to the Feywild but do we know anyone or any spell that could get us to the Shadowfell? I hate to think that the peak of Gatshadow might be an entry point given what’s happening there at the moment. In the meantime, though I’ve made a promise to protect Princess Kelda, if I’m needed elsewhere I’d be happy to accompany others. Hunting and slaying creatures is my specialty so if there are any creatures you’re looking for, I could be of some assistance.”
****************
Just before the reports begin, Zurik enters the room with a mug already in his hand. He looks at everyone in the room, gives a smile. “Good Morning, everyone!” He goes up to Kelda and Kradyn and gives them both a big hug. “It’s great to see you two again, it’s been awhile.” He looks over to Valasca and greets her with a “Good Morning” and another mug of ale after Garlic spilled her first one, toasting her right after. After finishing his mug, he looks over and addresses Yahalla, Tahn’ Rahk and Poppy and bows deeply to them. “Thank you for accompanying our friends on their journey. We’re lucky to have you.” After grabbing a second mug of ale and a seat at the table next to Lynneah, he silently listens to the reports as they begin.
He’s silent for most of the reports but finally chimes in, piggybacking off of Lynneah. “Yes, things didn’t go so well for us in Kraghammer. On top of that, the Ironkeeper, being my uncle, wants us dead, especially me. I have reasons to believe that my uncle was the one who orchestrated the attack on my clan all those years ago and he had the help of the Elementalist Drake Thunderbrand to do so. The city took pity on him and with enough votes, he became Ironkeeper.” Zurik then stands up and continues talking as he grabs himself another mug of ale. “We’re in over our heads at the moment. We were lucky to escape Kraghammer without the entire city bearing down on us. We need to get stronger, that’s why we shouldn’t overlook the three artifacts Queen Delphine told us about. Sure it might be a stretch to redeem Damien but at the same those artifacts could help us out in the long run.”
He takes a moment and drinks from his mug as he sits down at the table again. “One of those aritifacts can be found near Lyrengorn, at the peak of the Cliffkeep Mountains. That peak is also where my monastery resides. I have some unfinished business I want to take care of while I’m there plus I’m sure we could use their library. They might have knowledge we can use to combat the Prince of Deception and the Queen of Rot. If it’s alright with you all, at some point I’d like to go there.”
Zurik then takes out a stone from his robes and shows it to everyone at the table. “This is a sending stone that Fargrim gave to me before we left Kraghammer. He’s my cousin but he’s also the Ironkeeper’s son. He doesn’t carry the same ideals and resentment his father does though so he remains an important ally. With this, we can communicate any information we can about my uncle so when we’re strong enough to go back, we could plan accordingly.” He puts the stone away and proceeds to drain his third mug of ale.
"Thank you, Lynneah. As she said, our enemies are working together. We will have to split ourselves to tackle each of their plans. They must not succeed. Zurik, does that sending stone only communicate with a partner stone, or can it speak to anyone?"
Jezerin, still standing, raises an eyebrow. "Basra? Is that the head of the Slayer's Take? They were kidnapped? Krayden, do you know by whom?" Turning to Kelda, Jezerin continues, "Kelda, I feel that fighting the corrupted guardians is treating the symptoms, not the disease. While I'm sure it helps to slay the corrupted guardians, I think it's more important to find a way to travel into the Feywild and the Shadowfell. We must gain access to those planes in order to cleanse the Dawnmist." Jezerin sits. "The gargoyles of Gatshadow are attacking the dark forces flowing from Westruun? Interesting. Maybe the two Demon Lords are not working together as we thought. One could be piggy-backing the other's plan. There is too much we do not know about their plans and intentions, but their conflict is something we can exploit."
Jezerin pauses and refills his ale, taking a small sip. "As I see it, we have three priorities: investigate the murders in Emon and prevent the creation of another Abyssal Avatar, hunt down the artifacts that Delphine brought to our attention, and trying to gain access to the Feywild. I also have a personal mission I plan to attend to in the coming days. An ice dragon has taken up residence in the Foremere Basin, and Ascalon has asked me to kill it." Jezerin's face grows solemn, "While I plan to fight the beast alone if I can manage, I would appreciate some back-up, and hopefully someone to bring me back should I fall. Other than that, the closest item of importance is one of the artifacts that Queen Delphine told us about. The Spire of Conflux lies in the Dawnmist. According to the queen, it is lies at the bottom of a pool in a glade. It is guarded by a mummy, a friend of Queen Delphine’s from long ago. I think between five or six of us we can handle the dragon. I would like to take a small party south, tomorrow, to take the battle to the dragon. We would be back in less than a week. That gives those who remain some time to relax, train, study, or do what they wish. Then when I and mine return, we can go hunt the mummy in the Dawnmist and retrieve the Spire. Then we can easily split into three groups and attack our three objectives. One group east to Emon, one group north to Lyrengorn, and one group to base out of Meniirthun to gain access to the Feywild and learn to cleanse it."
"Lady Kelda and Sol, I think the two of you should head the party seeking access to the Feywild and studying the portals and corruption. Kelda your mother will be most willing to help you out of all of us, and Sol's arcane knowledge will be invaluable in closing the portals and cleansing the corruption. I think Zurik and I should head the party traveling north to Lyrengorn. Zurik knows the area and can possibly gain the monastery’s help in our search. Lynneah and Hao, I think you should head the team in Emon. Lynneah, you know big cities in a way the rest of us do not, and can use the resources of your organization. Hao represents our some of our political legitimacy and should be able to treat with the temples and get their aide. Ideally each group with have a spellcaster capable of communicating over long distances, so we can stay appraised of each groups progress and information."
"A momentous task has been set before us, friends. We are beset on all sides by danger and villainy, we have been betrayed and hunted, and we have all lost much to the machinations of our foes. But together, under the light of the gods, we can defeat any foe that presents themselves. We fight to save our homes, our families, and our very world. We will not lose because we cannot afford to. The darkness shall not put out the light we represent." Jezerin sits, face slightly flushed with the intensity of his words.
“Any of those groups have access to a member off the roster I’ve put together so far, as well. Until any of you are ready to move forward in substantial ways and you require my presence, I’d prefer to stay here to lead the guild and get Anahida to a point where she can do for the guild what she likes.”
Yahala interjects energetically, "we'll I need to return to emon to report to my fellow clergymen, perhaps our great libraries could be of use to investigating what we saw at gatshadow, the monastery can provide a bed for anyone who wants to join."
Kelda shifts her attention to Jezerin once Zurich finishes his report. “Actually, Jezerin, the more I can develop my...” she sighs, “ Fey abilities, I feel it will make the journey to the Feywild much easier. Actually, I’d like to join you on your dragon hunt. It is near the Ivy Heart Thicket, who’s Guardian I think has been drawing me recently. As far as the Guardians here, Balgas is an ally any of you may call on in the Parchwoon. As far as for the Dawn Mist a new guardian has been chosen instead of created instantly, as Balgas was. This person is not aware of their power yet but when they realize themselves, they too will be another powerful ally.”
Nodding as he listens, Jezerin says "Which temple would you be able to gain us access to? What clergy are you a part of? It seems we have our three objectives. Now we must decide who goes where. A group will go to Lyrengorn, a group will go to Emon, and a group will stay here until they have a lead on going to the Feywild and cleansing it. There is also the option to stay here in the guild and take some down time. You can train, shop in the city, and wait until you feel ready to take quests for the guild or journey out to join up with one of the three groups."
Jezerin makes eye contact around the table. "There is also the matter of the dragon. I would love to have Hao, Sol, and Krayden with me. The journey should take less than a week. Two to three day ride, a day of reconnaissance and picking our battlefield, and then the fight and return home. A secondary force could stike out against the mummy, to acquire the Spire of Conflux and return it here to the guild for safe-keeping. Then the Emon team and the Lyrengorn team can strike out. Who wants to go where?"
In response to Jezrin, Yahala states, "I serve the god deneir, the god of knowledge and writings, our temple in emon has a large vast library with thousands of books on any subject thinkable. I do not need to go straight to emon, but I need to return, if one of those other things you mentioned are on the way to emon, I would be glad to help out. I would like to stay together with my rouge if possible, he might seem shifty, but he's kept me safe so far, he's also oddly cold for a human."
*I toss him an apple hoping he agrees to stay together as a team.
"You would be welcome on my hunt Lady Kelda. But after we deal with the dragon, where will you attempt to practice and increase your fey abilities? Does each forest on the continent have a guardian?"
Tahn’ Rahk’s ears twitch upon hearing the plan of dragon hunting. “Jezerin, if you wouldn’t mind, I’d be happy to assist you on your hunt for this dragon you speak of. Like I said, hunting and slaying creatures is why I set off to see the rest of Exandria. Of course, if you would allow me to accompany you, I’d accept. However, if you rather have me stay here, I’m more than happy to do so. I understand I’m still new to most of you so I don’t want to overstep any boundaries.”
**********
Zurik explains to Jezerin, “they do come in pairs and they’ll only allow communication to whoever has the other one, in this case it’d be Fargrim.”
"Tahn' Rak, I'd be pleased to have your bow by my side. But what group would you like to assist following the dragon hunt? I assume you'll stay with the princess?" Jezerin asked. "I see. Then we will trust you to keep in communication with your cousin and relay any information you find relevant. We will be sure to keep him informed as well."
"I would be happy to accompany you Kelda to the Fey. Since you are dragon hunting first, you will not be going immediately. Is there time for me to go with Zurik and come back by the time you return from your quest? If you think that your quest with be of short duration, I may stay here and try to learn what I can from the extensive library. However, if there is time I would like to accompany Zurik." He gives Zurik a quick smile, "I have heard that their library is also... extensive. Besides, what an interesting quest!"
Sol then tosses a nut to garlic.
Poppy -
She pulls a long drink from her flagon of ale. She grins. As a half dwarf, she is of medium hight, but a heft build. She wanders closer to Lenea, giving her an interested once over. She squares her shoulders.
"Well this is a fun group? Now I have to ask: how many people here joined the group by running into the princess in the forest, or maybe even a random city?"
She gives a small laugh.
"Dragon hunting sounds like an adventure though. If you need another warrior, I would be happy to play the part. Where it is the dragon exactly?"
“Sol, I haven’t been, but I know Lyrengron to be quite the journey simply to its base. I’ve considered a pilgrimage, myself. Zurik would probably appreciate your assistance, but I don’t think it will be a very short trip.”
Nim bows her head towards Zurick. “The mountain passes can be treacherous. I would be happy to accompany you to Lyrengorn and learn more about my stone giant’s weapon”
Kelda speaks up. “There is one guardian per realm, except in the verdant expanse where it is more tribal and territorial. I would like to journey to the Ivy Heart thicket and seek the guardian there. As far as the feywild” she turns to everyone “I will need most of you and we will not be ready yet for a few months I suppose. After I return from the south I plan to stay in Menirthun to gather my strength”
In that case, since it is such a long time between journeys, I will travel with Zurik. I can use a teleportation circle to return early if necessary.
Kelda, if there is any information you would like me to obtain before our extra-planar journey, please let me know. I plan on sending you several messages, giving you the chance to respond.
Lynneah returns Poppy's grin, then turns to the group. "I'll stay here with Zurik and train for a while, maybe enjoy the downtime for once. After that I'd like to spend some time in Emon."
Yahala, looks a little disappointed that he won't be returning to emon so soon, but then immediately changes moods. "I bet I could learn a great deal from this city, I shall stay before we muster a team to head to Emon!" "Perhaps the gods want me here for a reason, I must work on my keen sight and gain more knowledge of these lands."

Tahn’ Rahk will go dragon hunting and afterwards, he’ll help Kelda cleanse the Feywild
In the meantime, Zurik will stay behind and train until the dragon hunting team returns. Then he’ll want to go to Lyrengorn
Jezerin will go dragon hunting, then accompany Zurik and the Lyrengorn team.
Sol sits in the back, thinking.
Sol smiles.
In that case, since it is such a long time between journeys, I will travel with Zurik. I can use a teleportation circle to return early if necessary.
Kelda, if there is any information you would like me to obtain before our extra-planar journey, please let me know. I plan on sending you several messages, giving you the chance to respond.

Sol: Lyngorn
Poppy: Dragon
Lynneah returns Poppy's grin, then turns to the group. "I'll stay here with Zurik and train for a while, maybe enjoy the downtime for once. After that I'd like to spend some time in Emon."
Yahala, looks a little disappointed that he won't be returning to emon so soon, but then immediately changes moods. "I bet I could learn a great deal from this city, I shall stay before we muster a team to head to Emon!" "Perhaps the gods want me here for a reason, I must work on my keen sight and gain more knowledge of these lands."
