The man in the front nodded, grinning. "All is well? Excellent. And it's Lieutenant, to you. As for an emerald crescent. . . we have had reports of bandits bearing such a symbol, however have not yet allocated the resources to investigate. Anyways, under orders of the Baron, you are all to follow my men and I back to the manor." And with this, the Lieutenant and the rest of the guards turned and began making their way through the thinning crowds towards the manor.

"Ah my good Lieutenant, pleassse lead the way" says Reghetyr, who tries to catch up with the guards.
"You need not bother about those small bugsss, Reghetyr and his colleaguesss are resourceful enough. We will deal with thisss nuisance. If someone can share those reportsss with usss, my precious Oben here will make very good use of them" turning back to Oben and putting up a big grin.
Oben nods. Yup, we will totally deal with the villains, bring a little more order to the land, and also happily accept whatever financial compensation is on offer. Still, Baron's business comes first, eh? He walks briskly, to keep pace with the guards and Reghetyr.
After about fifteen minutes of winding through the cobblestone packed streets of Olmkirk, you finally reach the incline that leads on a regular slope up to the mansion, and taking such a path, enter into the bustling Saltonstall Hall under guard of the Lieutenant. Abbreviating the already described ornate nature of the decorated halls of the manor, the party is led not up the stairs to the dining place, but through the lower passageways, eventually breaking out the other side of the mention - evidently into some kind of hub of transportation and activity. There, the Baron appears to be directing the loading of cargo, and the preparation of wagons - the yard is crawling with servants and workers, who are laboring tirelessly to prepare your way to the plateau.
"Ah, my friends. Your transportation is being prepared, and the preparation for your expedition is almost concluded. May I ask any extra accommodations I may provide you with? I assume you've already had your meal for the morning."
(Really sorry about that lull there. Hopefully I didn't just kill my own game.)
"My preciousss Baron, we did have a good breakfassst; a very interesssting one while we are at it."says Reghetyr, coming very close to the baron, but without actually touching him.
"Very interesssting, this city, Olmkirk. Would my sssweet Baron know who or what the Embersss are?"
Oben has been standing quietly off to one side, eyeing up the wagons and what's being loaded there. Perception19. As the servant reports that the wagons are loaded, his eyes snap back to the Baron and scrutinises him carefully, wondering how the nobleman will respond to being spoken to like that by a servant: Insight10
From what you can tell, the crates and boxes being loaded into the back of the wagons appear to be standard provisions - casks of ale, water, pork, camping materials, and other resources that one would usually take on a trip through such an area. Two guards appear to be overseeing the loading operation. The Baron himself appears unphased by the mannerisms of the servant, and upon closer inspection, they actually appear to be a hired worker - not a personal servant of the Baron.
EVERYONE
The Baron yells back: "Very well! The inspections are finished, begin clearing the premises!" Now under order from the baron, the servants and laborers begin clearing of the yard - returning to their posts inside or outside the mansion, chatting amongst themselves, some giving the party a curious eye. Others appear to make final checks on the mechanics of the wagons, the wheels, the hull, the canvas, prolonging their return. The guards move to the transport, and one steps to each side of it. Saltonstall turns to make a final address.
"I wish you all fine luck and glory upon your coming adventure, and I eagerly await your return. You will be transported to an outpost of mine close within the border of the Ember Plateau - once there, one of my commanding officers will give you your first set of assignments. Again - best of luck, and best regards." He smiles, rather mechanically, and extends his hand for a final farewell. Following this, he is escorted back to his quarters by several of the remaining loyal servants.
Please describe the marching order for the trip to the Ember Plateau.

Oben shakes the Baron's hand warmly. I look forward to meeting again, my lord, when our mission is complete.
(Oben has decent perception and can take the lead, but he's a city lad with no feel for the countryside... Happy to go further back if that makes more sense. He will definitely try to find where Hilben's wife was taken, and is keen to take on the bandits)
"The Embersss left a welcoming gift for usss, but don't mind Reghetyr, your Exuberanceee. Reghetyr will find them eventually"
To one of the guards:
"Friend, how long til we reach the outpossst?"
(Will we be able to RP as we walk to the outpost? Reghetyr will want to spend a good portion of the trip trying to get to know Oben more. Then, he will get eccentric and will fall some 20 feet behind the caravan, and will start talking to himself. Finally, for the last portion, he will catch up with Vesper and will attempt to engage in conversation)
(Sure, you guys will have some RP time to build up your characters. We're in no rush, and this doesn't have to be a constantly involved game. I'm guilty of being inconsistently active myself, so don't feel too much pressure. You can actually even start that now if you want before I start implementing some more encounters, though I'm going to drop a big fat description post sometime after I've got everybody's actions down, and we've got some RP done.)
As the party winded further and further down the trail leading to the Ember Plateau, it was hard to ignore the sights that came along with the trek - currently, you were positioned on a small rocky hill, moving on a road positioned just to the edge. A steep embankment to the left entirely obscured your vision to that area, however, to the right, rolling hills and pockets of greenery occupied the land under the now rising sun. Heat began to exaggerate the slowly oncoming fatigue, though the directions to the outpost were clear, and the two guards sent with you on your journey confidently flanked the wagon chock full of supplies.

That barmaid needs to toughen up, replies Oben to Reghetyr. Working in a place like that. Not somewhere for a person who scares so easily.
Yes, I remember the fellow - stupid face, weak chin, I doubt anyone will miss him. You have the right attitude, my friend - insults and injuries like this, even small ones, cannot be allowed to go unpunished. Otherwise people see weakness, and try to take advantage. When you are ready to deal with him, I will be there, do not doubt it.
Tell me, my friend, what did you think of our esteemed employer, the Baron. This is an exciting opportunity for us, but I can't help wonder why he's employing mercenaries for it rather than his own men.
Oben being a rather chatty sort will eventually try to strike up a conversation with Vesper as well, even if she's giving off signals that she'd rather not. Not liking the heat, eh? Me either. Maybe the plateau will be high and cool, if we're lucky.
