As the group has been eating, the Doppelganger was steadily dissolving, and now fully has been converted into a rising black smoke, drifting outside into the now steadily heating morning air, and being absorbed into the larger airspace. Left behind was a single slip of paper, with only a couple of words scribbled on the wrinkled white surface:
arrival
-the plateau

Reghetyr will eat his breakfast and will try to have a private word with the Gnomish barmaid, who he hopes is still a little intimidated.
"Precious, you have no need to be afraid of Reghetyr. You can be of great service to Reghetyr, and be in for a handsome reward" with one of his customary grins
"A human male crossed Reghetyr lassst night. He is probably fond of thisss place and a sssweatheart just like you can probably make him talk about his routinesss." and he describes the man who called him lizard the night before.
Finally, with a few puffs of smoke leaving his nostrils: "Next time Reghetyr is in town, vengeance will be exacted. Reghetyr hopesss you can help him, darling."
Intimidation check: 19
Persuasion check: 6
Then he will wait for the rest of the group and leave with them towards Saltonhall's manor.
The previously terrorized barmaid remains coming out of the staff room, seemingly off her shift, however when you catch her she is obviously scared - absorbing your every word with a mounting terror. "I'll - I'll try..." And with that, she disappeared to speak to the Innkeeper, and subsequently collected her belongings and left, awaiting her nightly shift within the Tavern.

Oben waves his hand to dissipate the smoke. Yuck. He then goes over, grabs the remains of his breakfast along with his pack and bow, and heads out with the others. So, I met a guy last night, wife got kidnapped by thieves on the roads nearby. I said we might look into it. Might. I doubt there's money in it, but it could help make us a bit of a reputation in town. So, where are we going? The last bit of crumpet disappears into his mouth.

Reghetyr will start towards the conjunction and then through the now-not-so ominous streets. If needed, he will ask nearby guards for directions and will be on the lookout, trying to spot the man who crossed him the night before.
Perception check: 8
Survival check: 15 (if needed for finding the way back to the manor)

Oben follows, of course, keeping an eye out for anything interesting, including Captain Percival, or anyone watching them closely, or any potential targets for pickpocketing, or anything interesting really... Perception15
As the daily work rush has now begun, and citizens are moving back and forth from their work place, you notice a group of groggy men with axes slung over their shoulders laughing, most with pouches full of money hooked to the side of their belt. Most of the crowd is now diverging to go to their individual shops or other places of labor, and these men are the only that you notice primarily as a target for possible pickpocketing. You do notice a small detail of guards working their way from the distance shape of Saltonstall Hall towards the party.

Guards ahead, coming this way, says Oben in a low voice as he manages to restrain himself from grabbing a money pouch. Not my town, don't know the rules, don't know where to hide, he thinks.
After a considerable time of wading through the noon crowds, you finally manage to meet the presence of the guard detail rushing down the road, and the man in the foreground of the group is a well armored, well kept man of unknown identity - "Greetings. We are here on behalf of Lord Saltonstall, as you obviously would assume. Is everything in order for our travel to the manor? The Baron's staff is currently working diligently in order to prepare your transportation to the woodlands of the plateau..."

Tell me, Captain... Captain, is it? I'm not sure we've been introduced. Anyway, tell me, have you seen an insignia of an emerald crescent recently. I met a fellow last night had some trouble with some bandits, you see. I wondered if it was something worth checking out.
Oben, as usual, watches the guards to see if there's any response to what he says (Insight6), such as if they recognise it but claim they don't.

"A few thievesss shouldn't be a problem for usss" as he scratches his chin.
"You can count on Reghetyr for thisss; but let's not make the sssweet baron wait for us. Shall we?"
Inssol takes the last mighty gulps of water and slams the mug down. "I third this!" He reaches for his second mug of water and begins to chug.
(The party is free to set off back to Saltonstall Hall at this point, as it's rapidly approaching 12:00 PM.)
