Probably not necessary, you see another four bad guys running from the town being chased by 30 townsfolk with pitchforks and torches. And axes and kitchen knives and hatchets and hunting knives and clubs.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
George 'I do indeed - wonder if we can get help for Max and Eva here - would be much better than trying to get them home in this condition. Bet the Bear Meat will be even more welcomed now'
George calls out into the town towards the mob of townsfolk 'Ho there - we could us a doctor here! Are there any Doctor's or Medics about? We're friendlies from Yacht - came to trade and wound up in a tussle here at the barricade'
One of the mob chasing the men stops to speak with you “We owe you a lot for killing that bastard” he gives the dead bosses body a kick. “We hadn’t quite worked out what was going on when they infiltrated town and took lots of hostages. We had to do what they said or they where going to hurt our children. We had plans ready to rescue them and kill theses &$#* and were waiting for the right time to make our move and then you turned up.” (Kick) “I’ll take you to the Doc.”
You are right about them wanting the meat, the invaders had stopped them from doing what was necessary for long term survival. Gang bangers may have rat cunning but are not necessarily all that bright.
Uthvern talks as they walk, (I'm assuming that we would be walking with the others into the town as we talk), "We were tasked to ask about trading this meat and some other stuff for supplies and iinformation if you have any?" He looks at the others, "That's what we are doing, aren't we?"
Your wounded are taken to a medical facility for care. After a couple of hours both wake up, now it’s just needs time for them to fully recover. A Long Rest or two.
When you start your negotiations you get advantage on the Persuasion check. They owe you.
If we're doing candles, then I'd say ask if they got crayons as well. Since candles are made of wax, crayons could be melted down and used as a forme of candle, couldn't it?
Yes. Um... flares? Explosives don’t work. Steam power doesn’t work. Nothing using expanding gases works. Me the DM doesn’t really know much about flares. You might get some light and heat.
- Heavy duty washers (like the ones used with bolts) can be used to make layered armor.
- Surplus Miltary boots, backpacks and belts
- Dry seeds
- Spoons (can be flattened and shaped to make arrowheads)
- Welding gear (if I remember correctly it burns hot enough to cut metal, just can't be replaced because it can't be repressurized)
- Dry seasoned lumber
It would also be useful to come up with a list of skills and services in the town - midwife, machinist, bowyer, ferrier, smith, anyone with significant martial arts experience, kendo, fencing, SCA, weavers, canners, organic farmers. We need a similar list for our town as well.
Finally, we should talk to them about putting together a scouting party to head up to the Biker's campground and make sure to stomp out any remnants up there - or potential free any captives left behind.
Juliette's owner seems to have left us; has Eva woken from her coma yet? Everyone still here please sound of.
To move this along you negotiate for all sorts of useful stuff that people have mentioned Persuasion20 Well, that's not good. While they are grateful for your help they have been spooked by the invasion and are becoming isolationist.
Because they haven't worked out what is valuable and what isn't yet you get 10kg of washers, 10kg of cutlery, a kg of magnesium (to make thermite) an old grinding wheel and anvil and 20 leaf spring sets for small cars.
While waiting for the others to check in we are going to have another time jump to Day 14. You rest up and recover and find that your skills have been sharpened by a real battle. You are now 2nd level (mainly because you are going to make a trip out into the world and 1st level characters are so fragile.)
I hope Juliette is still with us as she is a spellcaster and she discovers that something very strange has happened.

Uthvern chuckles, "Well I'll be! Ya'll seeing this?"

George - 'Absolutely - seems like you all could use help now more than ever'

Things to trade for
1 0 gauge wire (I think that’s right but the article on Wikipedia is almost incomprehensible)
2 binoculars
3 pens, pencils and paper
4 cement and rebar
5 slide rules
Any other ideas people?
I've got no ideas 😂😂😂 thinking of survival supplies for when all electricity goes off is not my strong suit lol that belongs to story ideas
If we don’t have them already
candles/wax
salt
,
Guns not working includes fireworks, flares etc?
,
Your town is on the ocean so salt is easy. On the other hand candles is a good idea.

And also tell them about setting up a militia of their own so things like them being taken over is also less likely to occur with due incidents

Alrighty then, well Uthvern is still here
George is still here - and that's a pretty good haul all in all
