Once we reach the sheriff office Eva ask what did he want to talk about. *ooc how many people are in the room and would Eva know any of them*
Eva know most of them by sight.
The Sheriff tells Eva "You're here because I've seen you train and spar and your probably in the top 20 fighters we have in town. I want you to join the deputies. When we get more organised we are going to need a town militia and you can help train it. Those of you new to town... you are part of our community now but we need to know what you can do and what you are willing to do. We need people to guard our borders we need people to go up to the highway and see what's going on without letting any people know where you came from. We also need to check out any trucks or big rigs on the road to see if there is anything useful.
Later on when thing have calmed down we will send a party to Doc Novella's home to collect his books. While doing that the group will explore to find useful stuff and bring it back or if there is too much we have a homing pigeon breeder in town, we will give the group some birds to send a message back and we'll send other people to collect anything that the scouting group can't bring back.
We also need to know what's going on in Salem and Portland."
Uthvern steps forward, "As I've said before, I'm capable of whatever I need to do. If this is to last as long as yall say it will, I'll believe ya. I'm a fighter. To be Frank, it's one of the few things I'm good at. That and talking to people. I could do basically anything necessary. When I was younger, I had a record. Fighting and being a nuisance. I was pretty high ranking in Juvie when I was there a couple years back. As much as I'd hate to do it now, I could put a lot of hurt on someone to prove a point."
He shakes his head, "But I ain't a leader. Just give me direction and I'll follow that path set for me."
Herman puffs and follows the mayor, while swearing under his beard, thinking
”evacuation? Military? Like tomorrow we will have a million people on a million bikes attacking us. I am really really curious where all this will end up”
'I'm a lifelong bowhunter - have my longbow and arrows with me and some tools to keep them up. Can turn arrows no problem and might even be able to knock up a couple of crude bows if we found some seasoned wood - but I'm no bowyer.
I've also got some experience going into places where I'm not welcomed and getting back out again.
Happy to help as you see fit - but it seems to me the trucks on the 101 should be a priority - especially if they have anything perishable that we can salvage.
Meanwhile, a roadblock to the north and some pickets to the East should be able to keep folks out for now. But we should come up with an 'interview' of some sorts to decide who we might want to let in.'
Being a non-resident herself Juliette follows the sheriff to his office as well. After looking around and listening to everyone she realizes how useless she is compared to other people gathered in the room. Despite this she speaks up.
"I'm Juliette Sawyer and I'm a musician. That's basically it. Unfortunately that's not the most practical talent but I'm ready to help with whatever I can. I'm pretty agile and dexterous...I think. I'm small and if needed I can sneak in places where big strong men like you can't fit. No offence obviously.
I'm also really good at dealing with people. A lot of my friends tell me others are more comfortable around me. I'm not sure if that would be of use to you though. But I'll let you decide - whatever decision you come to I'll try to follow. We don't want conflicts here"
Eva shrugs her shoulders “Well it seems my options are stay here and do nothing, or leave and see if I can help in some way. I guess my next question is when do we leave?”

"Your right about the highway. First thing tomorrow I'll be sending out a scouting party, its a bit too late in the day to go now. Thankfully the weather is still cold so any perishables have a better chance of lasting."

The Sheriff looks you over "We have some hunting xbows you would be able to use" he tosses you a hunting knife in a sheaf "keep this with you and start practising. Sneaking and talking are useful skills." OOC knives are finesse weapons. You use your dex rather than strength. If you ever come across a rapier grab it.
Eva doesn’t even look at the raid gear. “I’ll take a few of the tear gas”
Sheriff "When you go out tomorrow to check out the highway you can carry two. Also we have some of these for the young'uns. They're called wristwatches. See this little knob here? You have to turn it 10 times every morning so that it keeps working."

Eva gets up and follows the sheriff not knowing what to think about this new development with the town
Also perception check to see who is going to see the sheriff

Uthvern follows the sheriff as well.
They seem to be fit and tough looking.
Uthvern wants to use perception to see how the other townsfolk are reacting to the speech. 7
Most people are thoughtful and more than a bit scared but they seem confident in the town leadership.

The sheriff's department has some riot gear, AC12 (5). Some riot shields +2AC (5) and some never to be replaced once used up tear gas canisters. (20)
Uthvern stands still waiting to see how the gear gets sorted out.
