Black Cat silently chirps up, in Davar's voice, "Rest." and motions with his feathered hands to sit down. Then he will hide near the entrance of this cave and keep watch for anyone approaching.

While most of the group was resting, Black cat took a watch of the entrance. He remained hidden by the sacks as he sees a group of hobgoblins take a group of elves and humans in rags. They force them to follow as they pull on their chains. One leads the group as holds a better quality sword and a noticeable shield with a motif of a lion.
(For the group: someone should remind Davar to shout during combat, and not before, so he doesn't forewarn the enemy... Rolend won't do that, as he was pumped up to see Davar in action.

(This is happening during the short rest, so if you wake them, they'll only get half of their hp recovery along. And Alter can't see them since it is more than 60 feet between the closest one. So it is depending on what Black Cat does, he can alert the group by shouting but will give his position away; he can try to sneak past them; or let them pass for now. I'm just listing a few options, so don't feel limited to just those few.)
Just now realizing Black Cat has forgotten to establish a signal with the rest of the group, he mentally shrugs. Continuing to watch the Hobgoblins, he will see where they go. If they take notice of his party in the next room, he will attack #5, hoping to kill it while calling out danger and making a run for the exit. If they move to another room, he will silently move to warn the group pointing out the direction they went and describing the leader.

(The party will not know due to vision range (More than 60 feet between the fire and the closest hobgoblin). And yes, a short rest does not have to be sleep. Just nothing strenuous, so eating, drinking, and tending to wounds will be alright. But keeping watch is not a part of it, so Latirus would not know of the hobgoblins.
And due to Black Cat's position, stealth checks will be at disadvantage due to how many you'll have to pass. And if you wish to proceed with the stealth back, please describe the route you're taking back to the party.)

(Black Cat went further south, but it sounded like in post #80 that Alter would be around c17, staying hidden and watching further south. So Alter would be able to signal the group that something is going on in the next chamber.
I would hope that Kierro and Latrius would wait until the group is in a good position before launching ranged attacks, but so be it.)
The group is acting, so Rolend will only get half the effects of short rest. It is too far to get to the entrance chamber this round. He will move to g17 (full movement), stay behind cover, and have a Readied attack action if any enemies come from the south.
