The last of the party continues to fight the leader. Elwin puts himself between the merchant and the man, missing his initial thrust but hits him with the back end of his spear. Gedyr makes more space as he hits another shot upon him. Yet the man still isn't down as he goes forward once more.
With an awkward glow, Elwin's weapon shines brightly. It's glare blinds the bandit as it seems to also effect Janter. Although still reeling from the blow, he feels better as he regains consciousness.

It was only a split-second before Elwin recovered from the sudden burst of light and moved into action. His patron, Orridon, was acting to help them! Elwin wasn't about to waste the opportunity presented.
"Janter! Heal the others!" He knew he was probably overstepping his bounds in yelling orders, but right now, he didn't have time to think of delicate wording--if it remained just the three of them against this bandit, they'd probably lose.
Elwin stepped back a couple of feet, gripping low and leaning in for a deep jab with his spear as he did so. He then pivoted back in, swinging the spear back to a formal grip before once more striking at him with the backside. Finally, taking advantage of the man's temporary impairment, he stepped back, trusting Janter to also distance himself before becoming a target.
Elwin remains at J5 at first to attack the leader again, rolling with advantage due to his blindness.
ACTION: Attack Roll - 13, Damage incl. crit - 8 BONUS: Attack Roll - 25, Damage incl. crit - 6
He then steps back to I5, so the bandit has to come toward him to counterattack. If he does, he'll trigger an opportunity attack, presumably w/o advantage:

With a large gasp for air, "oof, why am I on the ground?" he asks himself, blinking of the fog of unconsciousness. seeing the scuffle around him he picks up his shield and little carver and scampers away (P3).
"Okay big guy, are you going to help us some more? These fellows don't seem to want free room and board in a cell..." He taps kosh on the shoulder. Getting no response, he grabs a tiny rock hammer from his pouch, tapping it at various points around kosh's bruised blows. "this may hurt a little, good thing you're not awake yet. Tiny hammer time!" with a last thump on the main spot, cure wounds 4
With the burst of light, the party acts once more. Taking advantage of the bandit's leader sudden blindness, they surge forward, attacking him and reviving allies. Janter scrambles away from the bandit as he gives a healing touch to Kosh. Gedyr takes another shot at the bandit, yet it was unnecessary. As Elwin first thrust goes through the bandit. Stopping his path, he drops the large hammer as he slumps down. His last words were, "Must...must obey her..." before his mouth filled with blood.
The merchant's head peeks out from the back of the cart, "Is...Is it over?"
Encounter Over: 600 XP (120 per character), 6 bandit fingers, 1 unique bandit, and 40 gold from all the bandits.
Elwin was pleased at the success of their group, but he didn't smile... they were surrounded by corpses, and looting them, while profitable, only served to reinforce the grim reality that life required death.
He helped moved the bodies to the side of the road, then spent a quick minute using his minor magicks to leave an ornate symbol on the foreheads of three of them, a symbol that meant one thing: BANDITS. Anyone else who came across them would know why they had been cut down. And they could bury them... after that battle, Elwin figured they could all use a rest.
"What say we take a quick rest?" he asked the others after hefting the fallen bandit leader into the back of the cart. (He had explained that the man might be worth something to the merchant, but hadn't really asked permission to bring him. He figured if the merchant complained, the group could just offer a cut of the bounty.)
"I'd be ready to battle again soon, and Yuno might wake up 'fore we leave. Maybe safer than just heading out straightway."
He secured the burlap bag of fingers to his belt as he leaned against the cart, waiting for a response from the others.
(OOC: After the leader's antics, Elwin would have been using lethal force, and would have not bothered with trying to stabilize him after he fell. If someone else did, that's cool, and we could say we tied him up before dumping him in the back of the cart.)

Janter peers around the surroundings trying to make extra sure there are no other lurking threats (perception) 19 before shaking off the daze of recent unconsciousness. "Huff. It certainly is good to still be walking around again, what with all that blackness a moment ago. Now, what was all that said about having to obey 'Her'?" Janter posits to the others, then goes about re-searching the Dead member for any notes they may have had, and finally detect magic for wonderment of mind controlling magics, or any others that may be found, tapping his little wooden dowel upon the ground and upon those dead.
You find a note upon the leader, although crumpled and tinted with blood, you can make bits of a message.

"oh, here now... look here. A note of some intrigue!" Janter exclaims. "How nice they even signed it for us." He shows the note to the others in the group. "Do any here recognize this name? And what about you, dear merchant, who's own name I am sorry I do not recall... I must have missed it in the preparations for this treck. Anywho, Does the name Lady Bianca mean anything to you? And on another topic, what exactly are you transporting here that they feel they must kill for it? Juicy, hearty beets perhaps?" -- watches to see if the merchant tries to be deceptive in his answer

OOC: Sorry all. I've been swamped at work and the last time I checked in Kosh was still KO'd on the ground. I'll catch up and edit this post.
Kosh ties off an abrasion on his arm from where the hammer met his coat. "Even if Yuno awakens, we do not have the resources to foray deeper into the woods currently. We should return to the keep and recuperate. Lady Bianca will be there in a week or two. In the mean time, she is just harrying merchants."
Elwin frowned as he looked over the note. "What the $%#!* is this?" was the first thought to come to mind. It wasn't really that he disliked intrigue--he didn't care one way or the other about any of that--but rather, he was irritated that the arrogance of those in power had showed itself yet again. "Get me X. Kill if you need to." It didn't surprise him in the least that such a letter was signed by a noble.
"Even if Yuno awakens, we do not have the resources to foray deeper into the woods currently. We should return to the keep and recuperate. Lady Bianca will be there in a week or two. In the mean time, she is just harrying merchants."
Hmm. Kosh knew of this Lady Bianca? Elwin began to wonder exactly how prominent she was... or, if she wasn't prominent, how Kosh knew of her. Still, first things first.
"What about our client here?" He kept his voice low... not trying to be sneaky, but not trying to overtly broadcast their conversation to the client either. "He still needs to move on, and might go without us, if pushed to it. E's already hired us, we should probably finish the job."
A thought that he had been distracted from flew back to him. "That is," he began, turning to face the client, and now raising his voice a bit, "unless we're being played." He took a couple of slow, deliberate steps toward the man. "We didn't ask what you were carrying. It shouldn't have mattered. But it seems that whatever it is, is riskier than we assumed." A pause and a grin. "Possibly even illegal. In which case... it would be a great help if we actually were filled in on the details." Elwin thumbed toward the cart and feigned a sigh of resignation as he finished. "That, or I think we might need to renegotiate our rates, knowing people are willing to kill for whatever this is."

(Did Elwin mean to go to I5 or I6? I got myself confused since it said between the merchant and the bandit.)
(Sorry, should have been J5, his reach is only 5 feet.)

Yuno's response: Snoring. (She is still out cold)

Cool. In the mean time, Yuno will keep napping in the middle of the road.
(OOC: Gedyr, Kosh, any responses? And just to check, is anyone using their Hit Die?
Also, @Virst: what did we find on the bandits in the way of weapons and armor? If any of them had a shield, Elwin will call dibs.)
(OOC Again: If our teammates don't get back to us soon, to speed things up, just presume Elwin would have moved/helped move Yuno onto the grass.)
