Elwin raised an eyebrow watching Yuno's behavior. It was like she was a different person. "What is with the gal? Is she feigning a false face? Why?"
He shook his head in resignation. It didn't really matter to him anyway; at least she wasn't as squeamish about battle as she initially appeared.
Hopping down from the carriage, he watched the merchant carry in his wares, content to simply keep an eye out for trouble. He hadn't been hired to carry goods, and besides, trying to be extra helpful like that might well have been taken poorly.
He looked around the town. It didn't look like anywhere a Lady Bianca would be staying. Even so, Elwin used his magics to clean his spear as he continued to stand guard.
Obligatory Perception Check for keeping an eye out: 1 Figures, lol.
Janter watches the bickering between yuno with entertained eyes. speaking to the group, he says "We should likely benefit from asking around who might know of the bandit's patron, the signed on the note." Then to the girl: "Yuno, you say you're what now? Interesting to listen too for sure, but what were you going to say? You seem to have nearly half the deathwish those bandits did... though far more enthusiastic."
Yuno responds to Janter, "Half? Those bandits are amateurs! If they had even a fraction of passion about ki- violence, they'd have fought to cause pain rather than trying to convince themselves that they had some form of moral high ground and shown no mercy. The fact that they kept telling themselves that they don't want violence and kept trying to knock us out tells me that they aren't as invested in the pastime of bloodshed as I am." Compared to the delicate, soft and whisper-like voice she had at the start of the mission, her voice now, though somewhat similar, is more rough, nasally and loud.
You were smitten with a rather endowed young lady as she worked a churner. It kept most of your attention as your cleaned your spear.
(I'm sorry, I'll give you an inspiration for the terrible joke.)
After a moment of bartering, the merchants comes out once more, instead carrying a small bag that clings a wonderful tune. The merchant bows his head towards you all, thanking you all for the safety and the security of his cargo. He says that he told the shop keep of the group and of the supposed noble. He says that he gave a small tithe for the clearing the bandits but does not know of this noble. Even with the few nobles that do stop by, none of them have a territory that is self sufficient yet. And to have resorted to simple banditry, it seems odd if they have the coin to do such.
The merchant hands the group a bag of gold (35 GP) [Will give to Janter for now.]
After feeding the mule, the merchant is ready to drop you all off at the keep. Ready to rid the cart of this corpse, which has been hidden under a cloth as to not scare the townsfolk.
(OOC: No worries; and yeah, I'll take the Inspiration for that joke. Oy!)
Elwin nods as the merchant explains his findings. He was right, it really made no sense; why would a noble stoop to such petty thievery? There was something missing in all that, but he shrugged it off for the time being; he wasn't the type to try to ferret out a mystery unless he had to. Not that he'd be unwilling to contribute his... particular skill set should the others find them useful in solving the case. Still, he found himself bothered by the whole affair.
The warlock hopped back into the cart, silently chiding himself for his less-than-vigilant watch. "Sooner we's back, the better, I suppose," he muttered, more to himself than anyone else.
"The note from Lady Bianca said to look for something among travelers....not necessarily merchants. Maybe it's not goods..."
Before they depart Gedyr will try to talk with local merchants specifically to ask about the bandits --specifically concerning merchants and traveler's that had been robbed on the road....
Was there any common items missing? When was the last attack?
The merchant says that he doesn't know what was stolen but knows that it happened about a week ago. He remembers that they were pulling the cart as their horse ran off. The cart was damaged and all but it seemed like it had quite a few goods still on there. He says that were also bruised and hurt but not dead. The elder took them in for a few nights while the blacksmith did some quick repairs and one of the hunters went to go find a pony then. He didn't want to pry too much since they've had a life threatening situation and got out of it.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Janter explores the area looking for anything that could be of interest as far as artifacts and anything magical, waiting for Gedyr to get back with any information, using Detect magic ritual as a guide if he spots anything potentially interesting. (perception 17 )
Did they already turn in the bandit fingers for bounty, or does that still need to be done?
The merchant says the last trader that was attacked was a peddler. Except that he was not really hurt, the only thing that seemed strange was that he rode into town tied up and a bag over his head. After stopping his mule, he told us of the bandits. He agreed to their demands and was tied up. After a while they move him onto something, only to have the mule canter into town with him on it. The merchant let him stay at his shop for a short while as he went over his goods. While most of it was there, besides some broken ones, the only things missing were a few magic scrolls.
@Janter
While searching around the town, you find a trace of a magic. But it lies within a large house, it's hard to determine what it could be. An old man rocks his chair on the front of the house, he looks content.
Yuno waits at the cart for the others to return. Though she would have loved to slice the bandits up herself, her blood-lust is satiated for now. She doesn't feel the need to go and kill someone... though she won't pass up the chance if someone attacked and she doesn't feel like acting innocent right now. She will hum a tune to herself.
Janter thinks a moment and goes to the man at the house, careful to watch his reactions. "Good day, sir townsman. Might I ask for your guidance? I have traveled some distance at the behest of a patron, who tasked me with finding a specific item which I had written on some parchment, but such parchment seems to have been lost along the way... thus, the name of my patron and the item for which I search is lost to me. I feel it would be a great waste to have come all this way without. Do you by chance know of any known Ladys in the area? I hope to reacquaint myself with the job, you see, and any help you might give would be appreciated."
"Well, I ain't too familiar with any ladies but my own missus and the fields I tend to. The first one keeps the home warm and the other provides food. And all I got to do is care for the both of them. Besides that, ain't know any other woman calling herself a lady around these parts." The man doesn't stop rocking his chair, he's content on relaxing for the noon.
Gedyr will go talk with the others and tell them what he found....
"It seams that a previous peddler that was ambushed had nothing stolen...in fact they only took some magic scrolls leaving all his other goods. Did anyone attempt to detect magic on our merchants wears before the bandits hit us? Would scrolls have turned up if we did?"
(You guys didn't find any scrolls or hiding places on the cart. And to be more specific on what kind of wares he is trading, it was mostly animal goods and farming tools, no parchments nor writing goods. Didn't mean to ignore the magical check on the cart.)

I will be going out of town the day after tomorrow. I will be gone for like 4 days. Won't be able to post. Sorry for the inconvenience.
(OCC: Are we waiting on someone?)

I'm pretty sure we'll collect our bounties once we move on. Not that Elwin is in a hurry to leave if your characters find something.
