Fae practically glows with delight at her brother's smile, putting her quarterstaff back into the loops along her bag. "Toooold youuuuu." She then helps Hadrian search the room, pointing out exciting shiny things and opening things with little caution.
There's not too much in the nursery, other than a crib covered by a black shroud. As you move the shroud, you see a tightly wrapped, baby-sized bundle lying in the crib. When you unwrap the blanket you find nothing inside it. You can either stay up on the top floor and continue investigating up here or go back down, meet up with Phanuel and see if there isn't anything noteworthy on the second floor.

"Let's go find the good deed guy and tell him creepy things vulnerable to the power of positive thinking are running around!" Fae suggest excitedly. Without waiting for a response, she races out the door, tossing a "Sloooow pooookes!" over her shoulder.
Enialis let’s out a sigh as she runs off. “I swear that girl is going to get me killed before I’m 200.” He then looks at the other two and says, “Come on. Best to stick together. When this is over I’ll get you a pint of ale for dealing with my sister.” Enalis then takes off after her not waiting for the others to respond.
(There's a few more doors upstairs, but we'll go with this one)
You enter into a library. Red velvet drapes cover the windows of this room. An exquisite mahogany desk and a matching high-back chair face the entrance and the fireplace, above which hangs a framed picture of a windmill perched atop a rocky crag. Situated in corners of the room are two overstuffed chairs. Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves line the south wall. A rolling wooden ladder allows one to more easily reach the high shelves. The desk has several items resting atop it: an oil lamp, a jar of ink, a quill pen, a tinderbox, and a letter kit containing a red wax candle, four blank sheets of parchment, and a wooden seal bearing a windmill, something that you assume to be the crest of the family that owned this house.
Hadrian and Fae, you notice that one of the books on the shelves looks a lot different from the others.

As Fae fiddles with the book, you all hear a click and the shelf shifts over, revealing a secret room. The room contains bookshelves packed with tomes describing fiend-summoning rituals and the necromantic rituals of a cult called the Priests of Osybus. Also in the room is A heavy wooden chest with clawed iron feet stands against the south wall, its lid half-closed. Sticking out of the chest is a skeleton in leather armor. Close inspection reveals that the skeleton belongs to a human who triggered a poisoned dart trap. Three darts are stuck in the dead adventurer’s armor and ribcage. Fortunately for you, the dead human took care of the trap and it will no longer harm you. Clutched in the skeleton's hand is a letter and it looks like there might be other things in the chest.

“Do any of you know anything about necromancy and cults?” Enalis asks as he goes over to the chest to grab the letter and see if anything else remains in it.
The letter is penned in flowing script and it reads as follows.
My most pathetic servant,
I am not a messiah sent to you by the Dark Powers of this land. I have not come to lead you on a path to immortality. However many souls you have bled on your hidden altar, however many visitors you have tortured in your dungeon, know that you are not the ones who brought me to this beautiful land. You are but worms writhing in my earth.
You say that you are cursed, your fortunes spent. You abandoned love for madness, took solace in the bosom of another woman, and sired a stillborn son. Cursed by darkness? Of that I have no doubt. Save you from your wretchedness? I think not. I much prefer you as you are.
Your dread lord and master,
Strahd von Zarovich
The chest itself contains three blank books with black leather covers worth 25 gp each, spell scrolls of bless, protection from poison, and spiritual weapon, the deed to the house, the deed to a windmill, and a signed will. The windmill referred to in the second deed is situated in the mountains east of Vallaki. The will is signed by Gustav and Elisabeth Durst and bequeathes the house, the windmill, and all other family property to Rosavalda and Thornboldt Durst in the event of their parents’ deaths. You assume that Rosavalda and Thornboldt are the proper names of Rose and Thorn, that the adults in the photo with them are Gustav and Elisabeth Durst, and that they were nobility.
Anyone who wants to see if they know anything about the Priests of Osybus can make an Arcana check.

"Well....looks like Mommy and Daddy weren't so nice. This note talks about their secret dungeon and hidden alter they performed sacrifices on. Here is the will and deed to the house and windmill that Thorn and Rose have inherited. I also found some nice leather books that might be worth some money. And these spell scrolls which I cannot use." Enialis says aloud holding the spell scrolls out for someone else to take.

With his check, Enialis can determine that even though he's never heard of the priests of Osybus, the necromantic and fiend-summoning rituals described in their books are completely worthless. There's nothing else in the secret room. You can either check out the desk to see if there's anything of note inside the drawers, or you can leave.

“Phanuel! Couldn’t you hear us?” Hadrian calls down from the top of the staircase. “Undead in the house. Get up here quickly.”
If no one else does, Hadrian will check the room, starting with the crib.
