Thrak would look to Cade and nod. "Sounds like a reasonable enough plan to me. I don't have a problem talking with the townsfolk.. but sometimes the people living in these smaller towns have a problem talking to me" he would say with a smile.
Cade returns the smile with a faint grin and a sidelong glance of his own. "Now I wonder why that is." He jests, attention shifting briefly to the skull-tipped staff. Deciding not to press the jests further however, Cade tries to peace bond the weapons on hand. While the villagers might not take notice of the bound arms, at the very least those that do might hesitate all the more... or so he hoped.

While you are travelling, you hear beautiful music coming from a flute that Xavnan is playing. The music actually keeps your spirits up on your travels and as you approach the town. You get to Oakhurst just as night falls. At this time of day there aren't that many villagers around. In the village, you don't notice any guards roaming the streets either. You do find a single tavern in the town by the name The Crimson Coin. As you enter the tavern, there is one older gentleman sitting at a table, finishing his drink. as you all file in to the tavern the man is finishes most of his drink, dumps the last remaining swallow on the floor and sets the glass on the table upside down. He looks at the disparate group that has just come in. As he heads out the door he says, "Good eve gents."

Looking around the bar for any other patrons Xavnan is relieved to see the place deserted. He was hoping to spin a tale for some coin by he wasn't sure of leaving the rest to themselves. "Maybe it is best we just get some rest and be ready for tomorrows search and rescue. Not sure what additional information we are going to get from this ghost town."
The man, walking past Darren, nods at him and says, "Don't know much about the Citadel. Least, not any more than anyone else round here. Sunk in the earth centuries back, and legends say it used to be a haven for some ancient dragon cultists." He spits on the ground at the mention of the cultists, then says, "As for a place to stay, you can talk to Garon, the barkeep, but yeh better make it quick, he's getting ready to close up. He's got a family to get to as well you know."

Xavnan heads to the bar. "Hello fine man. Myself and my fine companions are in need of some accomidation. Before you close up for the night could you assist us with this?" Looking around at the empty seats. "Is this a standard night? By chance is there a reason the livestock are brought in and not left to graze through the night?"
Garon looks up from his cleaning, looks over the party that just walked through his door and says, "Aye, I can offer you some rooms. Not many people staying here this night. This is a pretty typical night, not too much business in this town. Don't often get visitors here, not with Waterdeep being as close as it is. Rooms are 2 nibs per person, you can have your pick of rooms, if you wish. The farmers don't graze their cattle too late these days. They're frightened by stories of new monsters roaming around that maraud at night. From time to time, cattle and people who have gone out alone at night have been found dead the next day, bearing dozens of needle-like wounds. No one has seen the creatures that caused this mayhem, nor do they leave a discernible trail."After he spots Cade, he says to Xavnan, "That little one there,"looking at Cade, "isn't going to cause any trouble is he?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Perception: 14. (If needed to hear that last statement)
Before anyone can speak on his behalf, Cade strides forward, hoping up into the nearest seat if need be, and offers a hand. "This 'little one' is Cade. And no, I won't go out of my way to cause trouble. Whether the folk here decide to make it, however, well... I'll defend myself if I have to. It's all I can promise and be honest about it."He confesses calmly, meeting Garon's eyes the whole time.
"All I'm here to do is help, and be out of people's hair as soon as possible." Cade adds.
The bard smiles as the little goblin stands up for himself. Xavnan waits for the barman to respond to Cade before asking more questions about the dead bodies.
"Ok, going back to the unsettling information about the bodies. Has anyone in town examined the bodies? When did these attacks start?" Sweeping his arm around at the others he continues. "We have been hired to enter the Citadel and find a few missing adventures. Were they investigating the killings as well?"
Questions were flying through his head at a million words per minute but he had to stop himself as they already had a task. Maybe they were linked. This could be a story for the ages.
Yes. None of us are here for trouble. In fact were here to help, and help you, by getting rooms, and not causing a stir. Really we were just hired to do a job. Were new around here, and appreciate the hospitality.
Thrak would place the money for a room on the counter with a disproving look after hearing the goblin be insulted once more. Before the hobgoblin could correct the man, he is surprised at Cade's response and stands back with a smile on his face.
(Cade would have heard the statement, Garon said it loud enough.)
"I can prepare something simple for you, it'll be 2 shards for each person who wants to eat." To Cade, "I do appologize, you must understand the Goblins we see around here, are not the nicest of folk." to Xavnan, "The bodies have been examined, and every time it's the same, they have a bunch of needle-like wounds, other than that, we don't know the cause. This has happened about the last 11 or 12 years. The other adventurers were investigating the Goblins, and to see why they were stealing our trees back after we plant the seeds."

hello! Yes, we we're sent by lady Kerowyn Hucrele. She sought us out, and thought we would be fit to investigate the citadel.
Is there anything you can tell us about that place? And who do we speak to for lodging?
