Tarin nods at Bankur. "I'm glad your keen eyes spotted those. The valor of those fine fellows is worth more than some trifling magic. Speaking of which, I'm pretty drained myself." He glances down worryingly at his hands and wiggles his fingers.
"Raldaen, perhaps we should get our goblin friend to lead us to this... 'eating cave.' Would you tell them that further cooperation will be required, and that I'm going to cast a curse on him which will cause him to explode into itsy-bitsy goblin goo if he doesn't do as we say or betrays us in any way?" He conjures up an image of the goblin with its head blown off laying on the ground for emphasis.
Raldaen draws the bloody knife from the goblin's throat, belatedly realised the gnome was suggesting some further purpose for the imperilled creature, and turns towards Tarin, "Little man, that goblin was no friend o' mine, an' you need nothin' fancier than a sharp blade to be ending the days o' scum like that. I be guessin' their eatin cave be the other side o' that bridge, unless we be missin' a door round here. Though I be goin t' search that Klarg fella for any trinkets first. What be yer all thinkin' we should do?"
Rand opens his eyes. "I am sorry, Raldaen. I guess I didn't do so good. Thought I was a goner. That was one booger of a bugbear. I am feeling better now, though, so I say that we should go search for our employers. Let's find that eating cave."
(Salty Joe, I'll let you reroll for healing by the potion - I'll start a new house rule that potions of healing will never do minimum healing!! As for the stolen provisions in the crates and sacks, you can probably carry them out of the cave individually, but will need a wagon to move them any further...)
With Salty Joe and Rand revived, the intrepid party follows the tunnels to the west, over the bridge, and into the final cavern. This large cave is divided in half by a ten-foot-high escarpment running west to east. A steep natural staircase leads from the lower portion to the upper ledge to the south. The air is hazy with the smoke of a cooking fire, and pungent from the smell of poorly cured hides and unwashed goblins. A single goblin stands at the edge of the upper level, holding a dagger to the throat of a beaten and bedraggled human man - Sildar!
"Truce, or dis hooman dies!" it calls out in common.
A jumble of thoughts are swirling through Rand's mind as he considers how to negotiate with the goblin to free his prisoner, but everything happens too quickly for an idea to form. Rand only gets a moment to wonder what Salty's song will do before his thought is interrupted by a crossbow bolt whizzing toward the goblin. He decides to close the distance. As he does, he shouts, "No deal. Let the Human go now!"
(OOC: What is the layout here... how close could I get to them, and what is the weird black and white circle thing on the map?)
(OOC: I think the black and white disk is where Salty Joe focused his Sleep spell...that way it wouldn't catch any of you! However...)
Raldaen lifts his crossbow and fires at Yeemik, expertly sending the bolt right between the ugly goblin's squinty eyes and killing him!
Sildar gasps in relief and weakly says "Thank you, adventurers. You are a welcome sight for these eyes. Please, untie me and help me get out of here! If you get me safely to Phandalin, I will reward you handsomely!"
Tarin dusts off his robes and lets out a harrumph. "Well, I can't that was the most efficient method of extracting information we might need, but I suppose I can't argue with the results," the gnome remarks with a dry tone.
He looks Sildar up and down. "Very glad to make your acquaintance again, Sildar. Before we untie you, could you tell us something that only we and Gundren would know about you? I'm sure you understand we have to be cautious about this given the circumstances."
(Salty, you keep the spell slot. Your Detect Magic does not detect any magic...)
Sildar looks at the gnome and cocks his head to one side. "Well, wizard, since we only met each other for about 5 minutes before I rode away with Gundren Rockseeker, how much could you possibly know about me? I know that Gundren has two brothers...do you know their names? I've been beaten and tortured for two days by these foul creatures, but even so I recognize all of you. Where is the wagon-load of goods you were escorting?"
Bankur watches the bolt fly true from Raldaen's crossbow and sink into the goblin's skull, then nods grimly. "Another evil blight removed from our earth. We are all better for the suffering that won't happen because it is gone."
Looking Sildar's injuries over with an appraising eye, Bankur says "Are you well enough to walk a distance back to the cart friend Sildar? We were waylaid by these same goblins and left it in a clearing not too far away, along with the oxen. It should be intact as we left it."
Bankur walks up behind Sildar and begins to untie his bonds.
((OOC: I'm going to untie the ropes binding Sildar's hands very cautiously, as we still haven't verified his identity. I'm also going to do it slowly and deliberately to give anyone who objects time to speak. If nobody objects I'll untie the bonds completely.))
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Tarin sighs and scrutinizes Sildar closely to see if he believes this story. "I want to believe you, but one can never be too careful." (OOC: Insight check: 10.)

Salty Joe slowly opens his eyes. "Searching for trinkets is a good idea. Afterwards, lets clear this place out."
Joe hears the roar of the waterfall, "Anyone else have to go pee?"

Salty Joe steps forward harmonica in hand and begins to play a lullaby 23 centered far off to the left of Yeemak.

Penumbra draws her bow but holds it at full draw.
(she is going to ready an action and only loose her arrow if the goblin moves to hurt Sildar.)
In no mood to play games with the goblin, Raldaen lifts his crossbow and fires at any exposed appendage of Yeemik's.
