Rand & Raldean: (The room has dim light caused by the glowing coals in the firepit, so you don't need the torch for combat. But lighting the torch would have been an action...Also, firing a ranged weapon with an enemy within 5' gives you disadvantage, so here's your 2nd attack roll - taking the lower - 23.) Raldaen and Rand strike the wolf with a double whammy of crossbow bolt and sword, killing the mangy beast! The goblins fall on the floor, snoring, while the bugbear, shocked at the sudden attack from a different direction, just stands in the middle of the room and bellows, “Klarg will build a throne from your bones, puny ones!”
Tarin, with an arcane phrase and gesture, causes all four goblins to drop to the floor, dead asleep! He then rushes to Salty Joe's side.
(Salty, you can't use a rapier for two-weapon fighting because it isn't a light weapon.) Salty turns a little more pale...
Penumbra sees the goblins drop, but fires an arrow at the closest one out of spite or loathing, missing it as it falls to the ground. (This was a weird one...unconscious creatures give you advantage to attacks, but prone creatures give you disadvantage, so it cancels out! Still, goblins have an AC 15...so you missed =) She also rushes to Salty's side!
Bankur lights a torch and moves to join the rest of the party.
Bankur rounds the curve of the tunnel and seeing Joe laying prone exclaims "Friend Joe!". Rushing to Joe's side Bankur kneels down next to him and falls into prayer "Ilmater, grant me your favor so that we may keep this soul from death's reach". Bankur then reaches out to touch Joe, a wave of white healing light transferring between the two."I don't know if this will work my friend, but it is all I have left until we can rest again. May the power of Ilmater ease your suffering in your hour of greatest need."
After dispatching the wolf, Rand prepares to go after the two remaining goblins when they suddenly slump to the ground asleep. "Thank the heavens, what a pleasant turn of events!" When he sees that the bugbear has not fallen into the same state, he raises his sword and closes in, swinging. (Attack: 18 Damage: 11)
(OOC: Edit: Dice roll error above, seeing if editing and saving again fixes.)
Using the stalagmite as partial cover, Raldaen loads another bolt into the crossbow and aims at Lord Fuzzy Ears. Ignoring the dead wolf at his feet, he fires as Rand charges, hoping the bugbear will be unable to meet one of the attacks.
Attack: 18 Damage: 5
"We'd be makin a necklace outta yer teeth if'n they weren't rotten, ya poor excuse for a hacked up hairball!"
((OoC - Loading property is also negated by xbow master...
You ignore the loading property of crossbows with which you are proficient. Being within 5 ft. of a hostile creature doesn’t impose disadvantage on your ranged attack rolls, and when you use the Attack action and with a one-handed weapon, you can use a bonus action to attack with a hand crossbow you are holding.))
(@PBS-Ahh...crossbow master. Cool! And thanks for the tutorial =) Only Penumbra can hear the bugbear over the waterfall in the cavern .)
Bankur joins the group around the unconscious Salty, calling on his god to stabilize the poor half-elf and keep him in this side of death's divide.
Rand and Raldaen both hit the bugbear, but this monster is of significantly sturdier stock than the goblins! He roars in pain, saying "Who dares to defy Klarg?! Here comes tha' pain stick!"He takes a mighty swing at Rand with his morningstar, hoping to bash in his skull. Attack:16 Damage: 13
With a sickening crunch, the spiked ball catches the paladin in the ribs, dropping him to the ground...and then Klarg moves towards the chimney and drops down it in an attempt to escape! (Raldaen, you get an attack of opportunity...)
As the bugbear downs Rand in a single blow, Raldaen winces visibly. Then, as the bugbear charges towards him, his hands working more on instinct than by any conscious thought, Raldaen loads and fires a bolt at the shaggy, gangly foe.
Attack: 16 Damage: 8
As the bugbear runs past, Raldaen realises the charge was to flee rather than attack him. He shouts at the top of his voice, uncaring of whether the dozing goblins are awoken by it, "Hey, stop running yer oversized goblin in a carpet!"
(OoC - Raldaen will give chase as soon as it's his turn.)
Seeing the color return to Salty's cheeks and hearing his breathing return to a somewhat normal state, Bankur sighs in relief and sits back on his heels. "Friend Salty should be ok for now!" Bankur then continues to work to make the prone half-elf more comfortable, raising his head with a rolled up blanket and covering him with another. Nodding to Tarin and Penumbra, Bankur says "He will not be back with us until we can heal him. Until then we should protect him from further harm."Then, eyeing the sleeping goblins says "Perhaps we can start by sending these nasty little creatures to a more permanent sleep..."
Despite Bankur's reassuring words, Tarin casts a worried glance at Salty. "Well, we can't leave him here too long. These goblins will only be asleep for a few moments more," he shouts over the roar of the falls.
"Let's dispatch these horrible creatures and then go peek in with Rand and Raldaen to see how they're faring. We still haven't found Gundren and Sildar, so we might need to leave one of them alive if we don't see anyone else. But I can't hear anything over this racket!"He grimaces and clutches his quarterstaff with both hands, then moves over one goblin's head to bash it in (attack: 21, damage: 4 bludgeoning damage).
(Lol Tarin. That is my biggest pet peeve of 5E. A critical hit should never have the potential to be less than an regular hit or even be an average hit for that matter.)
Penumbra hears the commotion from the next chamber. "I don't think the fight is over! Something is happening over there." she indicates the direction of the room with the others and dashes off into the room preparing another arrow.

Raldaen's bolt flies true and joins its twin in the bugbear's shaggy hide, protruding from its chest between pieces of hide armor. Klarg shrieks in pain but continues down the shaft as fast as he can go... (Athletics 1: 6 : Athletics 2: 5)...but in his haste the bugbear slips and falls down the 30 foot shaft, hitting the bottom with a splurching sound and taking 7 points of damage, killing him!
With Salty Joe stabilized, Tarin goes to bash one of the sleeping goblins, hitting it hard on the head and waking it up. You now have three happily snoozing goblins and one awake, injured, and pissed-off goblin!
Penumbra runs into the next room and sees sacks and crates of looted provisions piled up in the south end of this large cave. In the middle of the cavern, the coals of a large fire smolder and Rand lies unconscious on the ground. To the west, the floor slopes toward a narrow opening that descends into darkness. Here she sees Raldaen preparing to fire his crossbow into the hole.
Salty Joe (unconscious/stable) - Raldaen - Rand (unconscious-need a death save) - Penumbra - Bankur - Goblins - Tarin
(That is the greatest monster death I have seen in a long while. The two athletic fails into the 30ft fall. Climbing is the deadliest activity in this game.)

"Well, I sed stop yer runnin'! Glad yer listened, but I didn't mean yer needed te swap to fallin', stupid brute." Taking a moment to watch the body, it's limbs bent at awkward angles and the bolts in it's chest having been embedded deeper or snapped off by it's fall. Confident that the bugbear isn't going anywhere, Raldaen seems to remember that there are still goblins about, and Rand lying unconscious from the blow. Watching the unmoving carpet, Raldaen forgoes the descent down the slope and heads back into the room; moving to Rand's body and checking his vitals.

"Friend Tarin - I see crushing melons with a stick isn't your expertise!" Bankur springs up from beside Salty Joe and does his best to put himself between the goblin and the prone half-elf, taking a swing at the nasty creature with his mace at the same time.
((OOC: I'm assuming there is no advantage here and that the goblin is back on his feet, but please correct me if I'm wrong))
Attack: 15 Damage: 6
