Nissa, the wind is howling outside- you hear it whistling through the cracks in the tower up the hill. Your head is still a bit fuzzy from Asper's attack, but there is a certainty of purpose in the wind's cries. Without a word, you slip silently out of Nan's hut and into the dark. No one notices you leaving.
(Mark exp, Nissa! You have an unshakeable hunch that help will be found at the tower. You have a new goal: get there as fast as you can. You can either travel through town (the easiest route) or cross-country (the most direct and secretive route). Choose one and make a roll, if needed!)

Nissa's Adventure
Nissa will take the most direct route, of course. She hops a little stone wall and scurries towards the tower as fast as she can up hill and over hummock. She blinks back some fuzziness, and the image of eyes that she'll never quite be rid of, trying to focus instead on navigating the storm. Scurry (+Instinct): 13

Nissa, you make it around Enhara without issue. The rain is falling in earnest now, but judging from the darkness behind the boarded-up windows you can see that the residents nearest the base of the tower are huddling with their neighbors further away. Looks like Thornbuck and Bell managed to get the word out. As you approach the tower from the rear, you see the light of a tobacco pipe suddenly flare near its base. It waves back and forth in your direction.
As you draw nearer, you see Bell (the all-white, red-eyed hare) return the pipe to her mouth and gesture for you to join her. She has a small lean-to protecting her from the wind and rain just next to a door at the tower's base. A wicked axe is propped against the wall by her side. Thornbuck is nowhere to be seen. How she managed to spot you (with your black fur) in the night from so far away is anyone's guess.
[regarding your move here: the Tower, last you saw, was damaged at its base and in danger of collapsing. If it falls now with you here, you would likely be crushed.]
Nissa slows, seeing Bell. "Where's Thornbuck?" she asks, sniffing the storm wind. Glancing at the tower, she adds, "The tower is in danger of falling, we should move away." Suddenly cautious, she is trying to figure out what is being concealed here?
The hare's blood-red eyes narrow in amusement at Nissa's discomfiture. She is silent for a long moment, then says, "Thornbuck? I thought I would find him in your company, little mouse. Once that unnatural silence lifted he tore down the hill to assist your friends." She thumps the stone wall behind her with a very large foot in frustration. "A pity- I thought to have him to myself this night."
Bell takes a pull from her long, straight pipe, and ghoslty blue smoke wreaths her face and ears. "The tower will stand until the morning, at least. The foundation is cracked, but the brunt of the storm will pass to the south." She pushes herself away from the wall then, almost lazily, she hefts her huge curved axe and spins it in her paws.
"Now, stormcrow. What of the rest of your party? Why do you approach alone and from the wilds?"
[Two things, Nissa! 1) This hare means business. While hares and mice have been allies for countless generations, strange things are afoot. Maybe she has sided with the rats. Maybe she suspects that *you* have. What do you do? 2) Answer to 'What is being concealed here': Realization hits you like a lightning bolt when Bell mentioned the 'unnatural silence'. When Asper knocked you unconscious, it was through an assault on your senses. Somehow, your enemies are using sound to deafen and disorient you!]
Nissa bristles at the hare's casual menace. "We were delayed by the rats," she says, watching Bell to see if there's any tell in her reaction to that. Nissa is wary of the hare's reach. "The rest are with Nan, she's grievously injured, and I came looking for help. That tenderpaw, Cuff, is supposed to have some healing. Have you seen her? She was said to be headed this way last, and I took the quickest route."

Bell ignores (or seems to ignore) everything you said. She is silent for another long moment, her expression all but unreadable.
Finally, she hefts her axe and levels it at you. "They say you killed an owl? I say you're a liar. Sandbreeze was five times the warrior you are, as is Thornbuck. As am I. That Breeze would die and-" She stops suddenly and, with an offhand swing, buries the axe deep into the stone of the tower's foundation. Leaving her axe buried there, she growls and strides down the hill (presumably in pursuit ofThornbuck).

Sense to read Bell's reaction re: the rats (though I don't think it's really needed anymore): 13
Nissa doesn't react to Snowbell's tirade, though she might flinch a little at the mention of Sandbreeze. She watches quietly as the hare stomps off, then turns to look about her again. How was it she thought the tower would help her? Or was it that tenderpaw she was supposed to find?

With Nissa gone to find help, Eli focuses on the badly distressed Piper. Looking to keep the rat stable, but knowing that he might even be beyond Eli's capabilities, the large guard mouse searches carefully for the pressure points most likely to bring the rat to consciousness, and keep him there. As long as he's willing to talk that is.
After short moment, Nissa catches a small mouse in an oversized guard peering at her from around the corner of a nearby home. Seeing that she's been spotted, the little tenderpaw turns as if to flee, but she thinks better of it and marches directly up to the ranger, instead. She brings a knuckle to her forehead in a formal salute and says in a rush, "Good evya, Leafstrider. 'Pologies for skulkin' about- my paw used ta say it's near enough the only thing I'm good at. Anyway I heard ya telling Bell 'bout Nan... Is she really hurt? Oh! I'm Cuff, by the way." She throws out a paw to shake Nissa's hand, then her whiskers twitch in embarrassment as she snatches it back- she's doing this completely wrong.
Under Craven's deceptively adept care, Nan drifts silently into a painless sleep and her wound is cleaned and stitched. With Nissa inexplicably gone, Mazer spends the evening darting between Craven and Eli, helping wherever he can. Eli is able to stabilize Piper for the moment, but the rat's wounds are still grievous. Craven crushed his leg and several ribs, and he made a ruin of the creature's face. He lies on his back with his unbroken limb tied securely to a post, his one remaining good eye staring upward at the stars that have begun to peek between the small holes in the clouds.
The rat coughs wetly, asks roughly for water (provided by Mazer), and begins to quietly speak. He's clearly concussed, and making little sense, but between the incoherent rambling and wordless tones Mazer and Eli hear him mumble, "It weren't supposed tah be this way. I didn't want the damned bug- Cutter said it would be easier to manage than the stoat. Poor Mount- ran off jes' like ol' Ride. Ne'er wanted to come here, Ride did. But he tore off the moment we hit the beach an' now I'll never see him again." Piper begins to cry. "It's that damned green fire- don't make no sense. Freezes yer bones and drops yeh in a deep black place. No wonder Ride ran off- stoats don't need islands or stone doors... stone doors..." And with that the rat loses consciousness again.
(Nan is out of the woods, but Piper will likely die in the night. Cuff could save him (if that's what you all want), but she'll need to be brought back to the hut for that to happen.)
Nissa grins at the tender paw's discomfort. "Never mind, Cuff, is it? I found the formalities of military order less useful in the field. Come with me to Nan's, she's in need of your help."

Mazer tends to the injured rat, putting wet compresses on his forehead. Mazer never gets joy from taking life, nor from seeing it go, enemy or not. It's clear the wretch is dying, and past any useful interrogation.
Mazer thinks about the last words. "Stone doors". He tries to think of anything he knows of that could fit that description.
Cuff nods and follows. You make your way through the town. Now that the storm seems to have passed you by, you see shrews and mice beginning to poke their heads out their front doors to stare at the sky above. As you pass the outpost, you see Yosef standing on the front porch with a bit of straw in his teeth, idly chatting with the uncommonly tall shrewish innkeeper whose hands are (as ever) folded behind his back.
As you dash back to Nan's cottage, Nissa, you notice two things: First, you note that Cuff is keeping pace with you quite easily. Your first impression of her was that of an awkward and noisy tenderpaw, but now she moves much like a seasoned ranger would. The second thing you note is that there is no sign of either Thornbuck or Bell. No time to worry about that, though.
The two of you arrive at Nan's cottage to discover Nan well cared-for and Piper on the verge of death. Her excitement is tremendous- obviously, she has never seen a rat before. "But," she says, "He's kinda like a fu- *ahem* a very large mouse, I suppose." After taking a long moment to examine him, Cuff eventually (and correctly) identifies a punctured lung. With Mazer's help, she sets the rat to sorts and stitches him up.
And the four of you, along with Cuff, Nan, and Piper, spend the remaining hours of the night in varying levels of comfort. Haul munches cheerfully away at some dead vegetation while the stars overhead peek in increasing force through the waning clouds. High above you, Firewatch looks down upon the island of Loamholt. Its green light is extinguished for the moment, but somewhere on the Peak, a bloodied Cutter bursts into a circle of firelight. The conversation there stops dead as the rat digs the tip of his blade into the rocky soil.
Dawn breaks over the the Mirror Sea. The first rays of sun cause the snow-capped Peak to alight, gilding the white-washed settlement of Enhara in red-gold.
The four of you, as hardened members of the guard, find yourselves awake at first light despite your trials the night before. Nan is still asleep, though she is doing remarkably well. You believe the stories about her now- this is the same mouse who dove into the icy brine in midwinter to save every member of a capsized shrewboat.
Piper looks... less than great. While it's very likely that he will live, it's doubtful that he will ever regain full function. Half of his face is a ruin (including his eye), two of his limbs are broken (though set), and over half of his (formerly) whip-like tail is missing.
There is a wordless understanding that you will spend the day recovering from your injuries, do what you can to speed Enhara's recovery, and tie up any loose ends you can before heading up the Peak.
Nissa will check with Cuff to make sure Nan will be well, then buckles on her sword. "I've a mind to see what that shrew was hiding from us," she says. "That Yosef has not been right with us." She will go back to the tavern in search of the Nodder party.
