(Yes, of course.) To the assembled group, before we go about our business for the day. "When I went to find Cuff last night, I ran into Snowbell, that white hare. She said Thornbuck was missing, then set off in the storm to find him. We should see if anyone has seen them, their help will be needed before this is over."
"I could see if I can ask a bird to do a quick scouting with me, if someone would follow up with Nodder?" she suggests.
(Sorry to possible retcon the tavern stuff... see if anyone else wants to look for the hares or go see Nodder. Nissa will do the other thing.)
Eli, pleased that Cuff is now here to see after the injured, takes up Nissa's proposal. "Depsite all that has happened, I am still concerned about the lost party. Perhaps there is more to learn before we begin the rest of our journey in earnest? I will follow up on the Nodder party." The large mouse gathers his few meager supplies before heading out.
The blind innkeeper is sweeping the outpost's porch, and his children (?) are scurrying about, removing boards from windows. As Nissa AND ELI approach, they see the innkeeper's ear swivel in their direction. He pauses, sighs, then sets his broom leaning against the door.
"Fozl, Pith- take Arna inside, would you?" he speaks to the air. The younger shrews look at him curiously, notice the two well-armed guardsmice approaching, and hurry inside the outpost without a word. The tall shrew takes a kerchief from his pocket and gingerly mops his brow, then folds his hands behind his back. He waits for you to approach and introduce yourselves (which, unless I'm mistaken, no one did last night!).
Mazer is most concerned about the mission, and the stone door. With Piper back to health, more or less, Mazer puts up a stool and offers the rat some tea. "You appear to have made it through the night, I thought we'd lose you" If Craven sticks around, Mazer is happy to let Craven play bad cop while Mazer plays good cop.
"I'm sure you know that the others gave up on you. We're the only ones that can help you now."
The rat looks around nervously, especially at the peg legged mouse in the corner. Mazer picks up on the nervous look.
"Craven doesn't hurt his friends. Well, not usually. You're our friend now, right?"
Nissa makes sure to make enough noise that the innkeeper knows where she is, but she does not climb onto the porch. "My name is Nissa, and this is Eli, we are with the Mouse Guard, sent to investigate the light on Firewatch. Our interview with Yosef Nodder was cut short last night. Is he inside?"

"Craven doesn't hurt his friends. Well, not usually. You're our friend now, right?"
Piper only has one eye at this point, and that one blinks furiously. He opens his mouth, but shuts it with a snap and nods instead of speaking.
Nan coughs from her bed and Cuff walks over to you. "If you would excuse us, Captain," she says, closing the back door. The three of you (Craven, Mazer, and Piper) are alone on the back porch, now.
He nods curtly. "I know who you are, Nissa the Black. I am sorry that you were not greeted as is proper upon your arrival to the Skygate." His ear twitches, belying his agitation. "It is the role of the Guard to greet guardsmice when they arrive here. This is a holy place- there are rules that must be imparted, customs to be learned." He steps from the porch down to meet you. "You have broken these customs- all of you have."
Mazer, you and Craven continue your conversation with Piper. You step away for a moment to answer nature's call, and when you return nothing seems amiss in the slightest. Piper rolls his one good eye in your direction. "I'm no fool, little mouse," he says. "Even if you spare me here, you won't let me go once I've answered your questions."
Nissa looks to Eli, but the stolid mouse is giving her the lead, apparently. "Then let us begin again. You know of me, but I know little of you, sir. It has been a long time since I have passed through Enhara, and circumstances were... different. Nan was injured last night, but she is resting comfortably now, and we are returned here about our initial business."

What do you want from him, and what will you do to pacify him?
Eli, your soothe ability would go down really nicely here if you had it!)
Nissa wants him to help them without all this ritualistic mumbo jumbo, all of Loamholt is at risk! She will gladly submit to any shame (she's endured so much of that in her life). She would also help him with a thing he needs done.

Okay. The people of skygate (the local name for Enhara) are pacifists. Even the guard here are required to carry no weapons. You all with your clubs, bows, and swords are a small affront to the people here.
The innkeeper (whose name is Eloan {EH-low-ehn}) indicates that he will speak to you indoors if you both leave all of your weapons outside.
She probably knew that once. Alas, too much time in the wilderness. She will move her sword belt and set aside her bow and quiver, leaving them beside the door.

Eloan leads you inside. His oldest niece (one the smaller shrews from before) sets tea on the low table for you all and begins to serve it silently. She also sets a (very) smell selection of berries and nuts on the table.
"Please forgive us," says Eloan. "We have not seen a merchant for some time. They are afraid to come near since the light appeared, so I understand. As to Mr. Nodder, I am afraid that he and his companions have not yet risen this morning. Have they done something wrong?"
Nissa will sit to tea, taking enough to be polite, but not wanting to lay their larder bare. "When we were set this task by the Guard, the Nodder party was a concern, for we feared for their well being with a vicious stoat on the loose, but never were they our primary mission. That is to see to the green light on Firewatch. When we found Nodder here, we thought to send them home, but they seem reluctant. I wish to see them safe, but cannot afford them making our mission more difficult. If they have aught to add, I would hear it, but otherwise, I'd see them packed down mountain."

Eli leave his staff outside. He is quite capable without it anyway. Sitting down to tea, and sipping it gingerly he adds. "I agree with my friend here, but please know we'll keep an eye out for any of the missing should we cross the path again during our quest."
