“Hi Quark!! I like your bow! Does it have a name? Mine was made by elves! I was with some elves for a time! It’s name is Northwind! Trusty bow it is! Say, can you fly?!??”
Quark greets Pringle with a respectful nod and a smile.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Pringle. Your bow is very finely crafted, indeed. Mine is called Eldoris, and she has seen me through many battles »
Quark then sits nearby, waiting to see what the rest of this motley crew decides to do. She knows it’s best to stay out of the conversation. The flock that argues too long on where to fish goes to bed hungry. She sits silently, trying not to stare at Korik’s (lack of) table manners.
When the group gets up to leave she brings up the rear, trying to make a mental note of the people in the establishment that are a little too interested in watching them leave.
[i’m assuming we’re not a discreet bunch considering our rambunctiousness/sticking-out in the bar but I’m trying to see if I can tell if there’s anyone that might cause us trouble later vs rubberneckers, kind of thing]
Noticing Eek’s discomfort, Quark nods encouragingly at him and chirps reassuringly before speaking:
« Do not be glum (more reassuring chirps) my bow is made of driftwood (which is why she is named Eldoris - « of the sea » ). You do not need a weapon of legends to name it, only to have a bond with the thing, is my thinking. My battles against giant crabs on the shore have led me to do so ! » she ruffles her feathers (a little too) importantly.
She then leans in to talk to him quietly « when we aren’t so near the mammals, you will need to tell me why you are so far from your home. Do you need passage back? I can help you, if you wish. We are birds of a feather, after all. » she nods definitively at the last part.

Eeek hears the chirps and whistles and feels like he should understand, like the knowledge is right there, but it is unintelligible. Speaking in common he says,
”I’m sorry, I don’t understand what you’re saying, my first memories are of a cage in the pirate ship I was raised on. The only knowledge I have of how that came to be was from overheard snippets of conversation. I was kept as a novelty, and then as a slave, only earning my freedom by chance. From what I know they found my hatching egg on a beach and mistook me for some exotic bird. I know Nothing of my own kind, and until I saw you I thought I was the only one in the world. I’m sorry for staring earlier, it’s been quite the shock discovering there are more of my kind”
Quark is deeply saddened by Eek’s story. She switches to common.“Those who would cage one of us deserve a special kind of death. I am truly sorry my feathered brother, that the pirate mammals did this to you.”
She then falls into contemplative silence, occasionally pruning her feathers aggressively.
Upon hearing Eeek’s story, Korik puts a large hand on Eeek’s shoulder.
Friend Eeek, I understand your pain and these pirates and all slavers will pay for what they did to you. I pray one day you may be reunited with your clan. No one should be taken from their people, chained or put in cages.
Jayson snaps out of some kind of stupor.I had a vision! I was in the woods with friends. I could not communicate with you all. I knew you were all here but I could not join the conversation. I heard a voice saying that there was no "Four Gee Net works". In any case I feel as if I belonged there. Weird."
The fresh sea air is very noticeable and a sharp attack on the senses as you step outside. It's a short 10 minute walk to the Snapping Line, Faûn pointing out to the non-locals a few things along the way. The streets are pretty busy, filled with locals in a good mood, and people passing through. 2 horses canter by, carrying militia. You notice Faûn get uncomfortable crossing the bridge, and she explains how back long before Keoland conquered a curse was placed on the bridge to disquiet Elves and Fey who crossed it. She also points out the Council Hall next door to the Snapping Line, where all official Saltmarsh matters are handled. The Council is always a delicate political balancing between the Traditionalists and Loyalists, and there should be another election before long.
As you enter the Snapping Line, your senses are full on assaulted. If the sea air was a push, this is a cudgel to the head. The smell of fish permeates the air and feels like it may enter your pores. The Inn is visibly made up of planks and hull from old fishing ships; a curiously bad decision. The bar is fairly busy, much like the Wicker Goat. Unlike the Goat, this crowd seems more at ease, less continental, looser. There isn't an ounce of pretension in the room. A young woman (wo)mans the tavern, and greets you warmly. "Well met Faun, may the stiff wind of Procan be ever behind your sails. Who are your new friends?" Noticing Jayson, her eyes widen a bit. "Oh! Welcome, Jayson, good to see you back around again. My condolences. Yer folks were always kind to me. What can we do ya for?"
Eeek peers around the bar, trying to use his keen bird sight to look for friends. He does see a guy who looks like that guy from that ship that time. The one with the face, and the arms. He thinks.
At Faun’s gesture, Quark bows respectfully to the barkeep. “I am Quark Gullbird. It is a pleasure to meet you. Your establishment’s odour is delightful.”
She inhales appreciatively the smell of fish. Other than hot garbage, this is a seagull’s favourite smell.
A hunched over figure lifts his head up from the bar and turns to face you. Eyes red, face haggard, unkempt hair; it looks like he hasn't bathed in days. With a bit of effort, he slurs "Who you callin old, Jayson. I'm still in my prime! I could still wrestle a bear if I wanted to."Standing up, he Tommy stumbles a bit, nearly falling over his trademark green cape. He manages to steady himself on the bar stool. "I'zorry about your parents. Blue, I mean Billy...yer Da, and I were good friends once ya know, before he met your mum. Didn't have much time for me after that. Whyzz'ya lookin fer me?"
”Too bad we don’t have a Paladin to remove this man’s stupor. Those healing hands are truly miracles! Will we be able to get any straight answers from this man?”
"Watch who yer speaking to ye wee thing or i'll feed ye to me wolf pups."
As if suddenly realizing the others standing there, his eyes widen. "Procan save us, Hanna. Am I seeing double? How many moonshines did ye give me? Why are there two giant birds in here?" He walks over to Eeek and reaches out gingerly to touch his feathers, as if to ensure he is seeing what he thinks he is. Realizing there are, indeed, 2 Aarakocra here, he jumps back a little and assumes a terrible ninja pose and alternating glances between Quark and Eeek.
Eeek is used to being poked and prodded by curious humans, although he has a hard time holding back a snap from his beak, his wings ruffle a bit as he fights down his agitation.

Eeek looks at his serviceable but worn equipment, hearing the others talk about their named weapons makes him feel a little self conscious.

Eeek finds himself deeply moved by the compassion of these new folk. His feathers ruffle as he deals with these unfamiliar feelings.
”Thank you, I hope to learn more of my kind one day, but that is not for now, adventure awaits and another new begining”
Eeek walks on, his head held a little higher.
(update coming today! Just need to let the creative juices get ready)

OoC: Sorry, weekend got away from me. Wont normally be that bad!
Eeek looks around and sees if he recognises anyone.
Perception: 12
OOC: Oh, that's what my feet look like.. </facepalm>

We're looking for that old drunk Tommy. I suppose it's a dumb question to ask you if you've seen him lately. Know where we can find him?
