Rasa will study Fliroy's body language as he talks about the Hunt Lord being good and protecting the town, attempting to determine if he is being honest or if he is speaking out of fear of the Hunt Lords.
INSIGHT: 9
Filroy seems to be slightly delusional, if sincere.
The morning comes with a gray skies and a hint of a drizzle. The three Neverwintans (the Daerivoss brothers) don't stick around the chat. They grab a very quick breakfast, quietly saddle their horses, strap on their rapiers, and ride out at dawn.
Argus Filroy leaves the serving to the invisible waitstaff of the lodge. Food and drink brings itself to you, and the empty dishes and utensils fly off on their own to the kitchen.
// You can finish your Long Rest now. The road lies before you; are you going to leave Noanar's Hold now, or would you like to stick around? //
Leaving sleepy Noanar’s Hold in your dust, you set off north towards the Evermoor Way in the direction of Everund. In the high wind, the High Forest groans and creaks its farewells as you climb out of the valley.
Boris the draft horse is happy to be on the road again, though he seems a little unsettled by the presence of this new Aarakocra traveling companion.
The Evermoor Way continues through this last portion of the Dessarin Valley. You pass not another soul on the road in the morning, and though the weather seems like it is holding in the morning hours, it quickly turns foul in the afternoon. A strong headwind now blows consistently against you, severely bending the branches of lonely trees as you trek along the road.
As if the wind wasn’t enough, far off in the distance you can see sheets of pouring rain approaching from the east, and the distant rolling of thunder. It seems that the weather is conspiring against you, and you may have to find shelter early tonight.
// Someone please make a Wisdom (Perception) or (Survival) roll to find shelter, unless you want to try and travel through the thunder storm. //
From his vantage point, Rasa can see that long, brown grass covers the surrounding area of the vale. The grass is dotted with the occasional scrawny tree, their green branches shaking in the wind.
Looking for any cover, you spot a crumbling tower atop a hill less than a quarter mile away. Parts of its conical roof and outer shell look to have fallen inward, leaving a gaping hole above which some hawks are circling.
A dirt trail leads up to the tower; it is mostly overgrown, but you can easily guide the cart up the path. And fortunately, as well...the thunder in the distance booms louder this time.
As you draw closer, and the rains approach, you can see that a large boulder blocks the tower’s ground-floor entrance, and a horrible noise comes from within—a deep, guttural, dirge; pouring from the lips of something big and awful.
(Perception DC 11)
You are pretty hear you are hearing some giantish words in the blubbery wailing. These words are more punctuations between the sounds of a whole lot of snot, coughing, and horrible sobbing.
Some of the giant words you can make out are “Mine, not yours,” and “stupid fat Guh.”
Derrikoth rides towards the tower with Rasa leaning on his shoulder. As he gets nearer, he calls out in giant, "Ho there! My companions and I would like to seek shelter in this tower, would you kindly let us in? We would be happy to recompense you for any inconvenience!"
Rasa will clear his throat as he flies down from Derri's height, lands on the ground, approaches the boulder and, in giant, he will add: "Yes, sir or madame, we do not mean to disturb you and I apologize for the intrusion. But my friends and I were looking for some shelter from this storm when we came upon this tower and heard you crying. I am deeply sorry about what this 'Guh' individual did to you, and can assure you that we mean you no harm. If you mean us no harm either, would you mind letting us in? We would love to hear about your troubles, and may even be able to help!"
As you draw closer to the tower, the acoustics seem to funnel the sound out like a blubbering trumpet. The pitiful wailing has a resonance that put your teeth on edge. The inhabitant of the tower probably can't hear your tiny voices.
"My friends, those birds above may know something we don't. Give me a moment before we go barging in, yes?"
Rasa will take ten minutes to cast Speak with Animals as a ritual. He will then cast Animal Friendship targeting one of the bloodhawks, flying up to be within 30ft of them if need be, and then beckon the bird over to chat. DC15 Wisdom saving throw or be charmed by me for 24 hours or until one of us harms the target.
Derrikoth nods to Rasa before making a quick circuit around the tower, looking for anything of note.
Perception: 17
Besides the gaping hole in the wall and ceiling of the tower, there are arrow slits on the lower and upper levels, three at the bottom level and two on the second level. You can't see the giant from where you're standing on the ground, but the snotty wailing continues, amplified by the tower's acoustics.
"Oh for fu--Alright! Time's up." Nirzeg said as he finally hopped fully out of the cart, and made his way over to Rasa and Derrikoth. Without wasting time requesting a sitrep, he sends Smart Zeek and Wickerman up to the nearest arrow slits for a peek inside, while he carefully maneuvered a pinch of powdered into hand. "Mind the incline, fellows." He said, already doing the same to avoid the boulder tumbling back on him prior to snapping his fingers, and shrinking the blocking boulder in all dimensions.
"Well, don't just stand there. One of you speakers step up and move the thing the rest of the way for a proper chat. I'll be out here."

When you realize you're doing too much: Signature.
While Rasa is still ritual casting, Derrikoth & Genevieve manage to work together and roll the shrunk boulder out of the way of the door, well before it is able to revert back to its normal size.
The blood hawks have taken refuge from the drizzling rain under the tower’s exposed roof.
A stone staircase hugs the inside wall, spiraling upward in a clockwise direction and forming landings at various points. Situated next to each landing is a 9-foot-tall arrow slit that tapers to a width of 5 inches.
Much of the tower floor and the staircase are strewn with rubble, mostly stone and wood from the looks of it.
At this point, the pitiful sobbing has stopped. The silence is punctuated with a loud, snotty, SNIFFFFF-ing snort.
“Who there?” Comes a hoarse voice in the giant language.
Derrikoth raises his voice again and responds in Giant, "We are a group of adventurers, seeking shelter for the night. Would you allow us to share a roof with you? We'll be sure to recompense you for any inconveniences."
// Derrikoth go ahead with a Charisma (Persuasion) check! //
The hulking figure of a female hill giant leaps down from the second level of the tower, landing amongst the rubble on the tower floor and causing the whole structure to shudder...
Genevieve steps back as she gazes at the hill giant who came crashing down, a little scared but intrigued. She wasn't attacking them right now so that was a plus! "Excuse me if I'm being rude at all, but, um, were you crying? Or perhaps ill? We could... Maybe help if you let us stay? I'm a very good listener and medic in a pinch!"
(Not sure if possible, but could Genny help Derri on that persuasion roll?)
