Nirzeg openly scoffs at a point, and mutters something along the lines of, "Hmph! Wholly? More like hardly"under breathe. Even if someone should overhear something, he rolls his eyes at any indignation or the like. Alus recieves a stern look for the outburst, and smirks at Astra. "You sure you're not Zhentarim?" He jests.
"Here's a real plan of action. As entertaining as it would be to see some of you -- especially that silly lizard man -- fry from underestimating this Mister Kolstagg, perhaps a less hostile initial approach? Like, oh I dunno, an offer to look into this assassin business? Assuming it really /is/ assassin business in the first place. Him being a retired adventurer, after all."Nirzeg spins back around to face the Lord Protector.
"Assuming we can convince your poor, poor wizard to restrain his "pets", or even get rid of them altogether, is there anything we can expect from you in return? Our business -- aside from the one here -- lies elsewhere. And it would be most unfortunate that we risk what may be our lives for little more than a pat on the back. Such a thing may be buy some of these... upstanding people enough, but will hardly be just reward. Wouldn't you agree?"

"They are if they weren't truly assassins. Seems excessive to employ such creatures after the fact when a few more arcane traps would suffice." Nirzeg says pointedly. "And even if they are, setting the poor man's mind at ease knowing -- at least for a time -- his previous issue is no longer a part of this world might do wonders for his mood. Certainly enough to at least restrain his pets."He smiles, but it doesn't quite reach his eyes. "And if not, there is always back to option A followed by B that you seem so eager to push. Though frankly if this becomes a pro-bono thing -- AND-..."He looks back to the Lord Protector with an inquisitive gaze. "Assuming there's no legal issues to worry about similar to Waterdeep… I don't think it wise to get any more involved with that for what has thus far been just mischief and misplaced blame."

"I mean...if there's one thing I learned from my time at sea, it's that you don't know what you don't know. No point in planning five steps ahead if after step 1 your step 2 becomes step 8 because a monsoon carries you to step 4 sooner than you wanted. But step 1 seems to be talking to this Kolstagg guy."
He looks around to the group for approval after such wise words. Then he realizes he hasn't yet met Nirzeg.
"Oh hey, what's up man. The name's Alus, but you can call me Al."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Nirzeg blinks ever so slowly at Alus, and then just... shakes his head. "Nirzeg, my dude."He replies in a slight mocking tone, but still politely offers his hand for a shake. "I'm starting to see why they left that note next to your file." On that mysterious note, he turns back to the Lord Protector to await her input on things; namely about granting a reward for braving a talk with Kolstagg.
At least he starts to, but seeing XJ9 still damaged clicks his tongue. "Why that is no good. You call this presentable? Stay still." He says, snapping the edge of his gloves in place, causing the scripts embroidered in them to glow on his way to touching near the warforged injuries. The same scripts lift off and roll off and onto her into a temporary alchemy circle that -- as if wholly by magic -- seems to rewrite time, leaving her in a more pristine state.
Darathra nods thoughtfully. "I would advise against any direct action involving Kolstaag, on your parts. You aren't involved with the law here, and things might get out of hand. Kolstaag is ornery on a good day, and he might take your arrival as a 'direct threat' to his safety. Truth is, I would’ve already sent the Twelve to deal with it tonight, but they are investigating reports of orc raids on the ranches to the south and east. Orcs! As if these reports of giants weren’t enough," she sighs.
"I am not in the habit of paying adventurers to do what my militia and police should be doing, but you're certainly capable—tell you what, let me take up the issue with my guard captain when he returns. There is a possibility of deputizing you for the short-term. And if you're ever looking for a job, Triboar would certainly be glad to have people of your skill. Come and see me tomorrow afternoon, and we can discuss such things as payment and opportunities.
"At any rate, seeing as you have done a service to our people, I wish to say thank you, and personally welcome you to Triboar. Please stay at Northshield House tonight, as my guests. I'll send a message to Urgala with you, so she knows I sent you. Oh, and I believe there was a dragonborn with you? If you'd be able to pass my thanks along to him as well, I would be most grateful."
Meanwhile, at The Six Windows, Derrikoth's bath is unpleasant, to say the least. It's a safe bet the the tub hasn't been cleaned in quite a while, as it was filled with a sorts of rodent droppings, dead bugs, and...snake skin? Drawing, heating, and bathing takes Derrikoth into the dark hours, leading toward deepnight.
With Darathra's offer of free room in hand, you have little else to besides making your way to the nearest bed. If you take up her offer of a room at Northshield House, you will find Urgala Meltimer's comfortable inn situated nicely at the head of the Evermoor Way, just on the east side of town, its windows lit in an inviting way. Urgala herself will greet you, ask you to keep your blades sheathed during your stay, and have one of her several staff members escort you up to private rooms on the upper floor. Urgala has three muscular mastiffs that sleep in the ground floor common room, each of which is very well behaved and good-natured.
You are free to go anywhere you like, of course. The sun has set over the autumn-colored trees of Gwaeron's Slumber, bringing darkness that is only alleviated by the sparse lamplight here and there in the quiet frontier town. There is no one out on the streets by this point.
"Thank you for your time and the room, my lady. We'll send your regards to the Dragonborn. Genevieve, shall we get going? I think you promised to sing a few songs for me and I look forward to hearing them.

XJ9 found herself taken aback at Nirzeg fixing the damage the gargoyles had caused her, the construct's eyes narrowing for a moment trying to see if he had any ill intent in doing so (perhaps asking her for coin afterwards?), but when the gash had been repaired and he pulled away without saying anything, she gives him a genuine thank you. "Very well," She says finally, turning to the lady. "Thank you for the information, hu-- Er, Lord, and for the rooms." She gives her a curtsy, then addresses Astra. "Yes, I am well aware of what I have done and am--slightly regretting it because of the amount of times you've reminded me-- ah." She pauses and shakes her head then continues as normal. "If the rest of you wish to hear my songs as well, please do tag along." Genevieve then goes and makes her leave for the Northshield House.

"Certainly all something to keep in mind." Nirzeg replies to the Lord Protector while admiring his work on XJ9. Though a sour look crosses his face at the mention of a dragonborn, he swiftly presses it back into a smile. "Though we're headed towards the same place, I do believe I'll be turning in early. But thanks for the offer... Genie? I'm calling you genie." Nirzeg swiftly turns back to the Lord, and with a final bow and an uttering of, "Until next we meet, milaaa-Lord Protector" makes his way to Northshield House.
Of the dragonborn, he spares not a single thought of looking for him, "trusting" Astra or Alus to do so. But before getting too far ahead, he pauses to say to the others, "I found a guide familiar to the more outlying areas. A member of the Emerald Enclave, or so she said. A woman by the name of Zindra Winter-something. Never been good names -- BUT, if none of you are secretly of the wilderness type, perhaps we might recruit, hm? Think about it, and can talk more in the morning."Nirzeg says closer to when the group were on their way out.
"That right? Well, I'm all for saving coin, but not so much so if its my life on the line. I would /hope/ its the same for you to want to trade experience for--" He squints at Alus if following along. "something Less so? But what do I know. Anyways, talks among yourselves, and so on, and see you in the morning."

The night passes comfortably for those that took up Darathra on her offer. Northshield House is stately, clean, and quiet. A hearty breakfast is served, complete with fresh vegetables and plump, juicy sausages.
Derrikoth awakens from his sleep in the lumpy, moth-eaten bed to find Tolmara peering through his room’s keyhole, chuckling unabashedly to herself. For breakfast, she provides a bowl with tepid milk poured over a head of cabbage, cut in half. If you eat it, she happily watches each bite, licking her lips and making slurping sounds.
(go ahead and hit the Long Rest button on your character sheets! And if there’s any spell prep you need to do, go for it)
Derrikoth backs away from the cabbage cereal with a forced grin plastered on his face, loaded down underneath all of his gear, "I thank you, Mistress Tolmara, for your hospitality but I really must be going. Enjoy your... cabbages, I guess."
As soon as he's out the door he'll take his horse full gallop into town to buy some breakfast.
Astra has tears in her eyes as Genevieve finishes her song. "Thank you, that was beautiful." She goes to sleep that night and wakes up feeling incredibly rested before having a wonderful breakfast. "I suppose that we should locate the Dragonborn before visiting the Lord Protector." She says, readying her parchment that identifies her.
