Are you looking to have a world that is all accepting of all lgbtq+ identities or is it ok if we play with the idea of rejection in our backstories? I was thinking of having Mayo being kicked out of her tribe.
I think there's room for both worlds. There's a lot of opportunities in characters having to fight for their identities (well, not literally!) I'm interested in how other players feel about this issue too. But yes, kicked out of her tribe is fine!
