(And heads up, you don't need to roll to look for pebbles. You're in a semi-natural forest so there's always bound to be a few pebbles near you. In a dungeon is another thing.)
The party comes across a particularly thick part of the forest. The trees are bigger than the ones before, reaching down with vines and ivy. It spreads about the forest floor as well, making it hard to traverse without tripping or slipping. Oddly enough, there is a lack of animals here as the forest is eerily quiet.
(ooc: can I play as if I always have about 20 pebbles in my pockets at the beginning of fights?)
Looking around Trogon finds about 20 nice pebbles and puts them in his pocket. The lack of animal sounds disturbs him. He makes a perception check: Ability scores: 21 to hear if there is any lifeform hiding up ahead.
"Wait, ssssh, this is strange! Do you guys hear that? there's nothing, no sounds" Trogon whispers.
"Are we still going the right way?"
Trogon puts one of the pebbles in his sling. He moves to the back and right side of the group to have a clear field of view and listens....

"Unless one has taken to wearing shoes -- which I can only presume would be a painful experience -- I... would like them to chicken scratches on the ground from clawed toes of something bipedal, and--"Gregor stops at that point, and eyes the questioner at length. Or at least appears to as they walked along. Hard to say when the only indication of where he looked dependent upon how much he faced a thing. "It's Ko-BOLDS, not bolts... Have you never dealt with kobolds at all?" He asked in concern en-route to the new area.
Whether he receives one or not, realizing the path grow more difficult to maneuver in puts him on edge. "... We're here." A dagger falls into an open hand from the healer's sleeves as words that sounded almost like prayers and song drift past the mask. "We're in Vine Blight territory now." He says as frost gathers on the surface of his clothing. "Unless any have a mind to play a bait, let's circle up, and proceed carefully. Snap of pieces of vine along the way, perhaps? If nothing else, that will at least eliminate possible ambush points."
Tren looks at the tangle ahead of them shakes his head. "Aye, unless I sprout wings and fly, I'm not going into this forest that way! Gregor what do ye think? No sounds of animals," (at the risk of sounding like a druid) I'm not sure but they'res a predator ls or some evil afoot. Animals are sometimes much smarter than we."
He aims his crossbow at one of the tangled tree roots and shoots 158
"I've only been a sailor before wanting to become a druid, dear sir. So my knowledge of these kobolds and vines is quite limited." As trogon moves into the circle next to Gregor.

(If we can tell the mace needs to have Identify cast on it Lyon cast it but she'll need to borrow a pearl worth 100g)
Lyon didn't seem to notice the lack of wildlife, she didn't have anywhere near enough wilderness experience to judge such things. "The lack of animals could also be from a Kobold camp nearby couldn't it?" She watches the others attack the plant around them and draws her own rapier but she didn't have much that she could safely attack from a distance with. "What can I do to help?"
(Even together I don't think we have that kind of money. Yet!)
"If only, Lady Lyon." Gregor says solemn. Of the shooting of vines, the masked hunter makes no comment, but instead tries to recall clues on luring blights out. "But their settlements are rarely so large on the surface as to scare away even the birds."He shakes his head. "No. I'm certain of it, Mr. Tren. If not Vine Blights, then something equally or more sinister lurks in this area."He takes hold of one of the nearby vines for absent-minded studying.
"We will have to be cautious. Perhaps... If you have access to some illusionary miracles -- sorry, spells that could simulate a deer tromping through the area, Lady Lyon?"He asks. Aside from waiting for a few shots, Lyon's spells, or some other member's idea to come up, Gregor watches until all other options other than just walking through have been exhausted... before taking the risk of being bait.
Before that point...
"Remind me when we're back in town to share more then, young druid. Of other hunts me and a... colleague of mines once partook involving the supernatural and akin."
(To give a base visual of what the group can currently see, R is Trenet and T is for Trogen.)
The bolt strikes a root with a solid thunk as it plants itself into the root. Yet the plant does not react, instead it remains still as it was before. Although the plant doesn't react, the forest seems to. as sounds of something big rolls about. Yet the party cannot see any form or shape to it, only more of the vines and trees. The sounds stop for a moment and then a rabbit bursts from the forest, sprinting with all its might. Its small body obviously bruised and cut as it bleeds red on its brown coat.
"I can light it." Lyon holds her hand a few inches from the torch and mutters a few arcane words. She casts Prestidigitation, lighting the torch. "Would you like me to carry it? I have a free hand since I'm only using my rapier."
“ uh.... now what?” Trogon says. He takes three pebbles in his closed fist, mumbles some incomprehensive words into it and the pebbles get the same glow the mace has.
“Are we gonna camp here at the edge of this darker part of forest or move in” the adrenaline rushing through his vanes he takes two hesitating steps into the forest hoping the rest are following real closely. In his mind cursing himself why he had to be the one who had to take the first step cause this could no end right. He had no idea what kind of creature or creatures could lurk behind those trees. All that time he had been walking behind the bigger humans with their shining armor and large weapons and now things got dangerous he was the one doing the first step....he thought about turning round and getting back in line again.
trogon readies his sling to attack he first thing that jumps forward with a glowing pebble right between their eyes.....or anywhere....
