Looking up at the half-elf lady, mistrustful as he is, he still can tell she is clearly confused. "You are welcome." he replies in his low pitch voice, to no thanks given. Yet, he has not offered his name. Sociability is clearly not one of his skills.
Kayla looks down and blushes in embarrassment. She'd forgotten the deep gnome in all the fuss of her arrival. She smiles back at him glad he hadn't taken offense.
Kai continues to help gather things, knowing everyone if following her light. With slight amusement, she will cast light onto Torvus' book as well as she finishes gathering everyones things. With slight amusement, Kai will look to Torvus. "I hate to prevent your research Torvus. But I think this one is just like us. Just trapped by the fog. At least it's normal fog now though. Although we're not sure how long that could last. We should find a better place and set up a camp. " Kai looks down into the murky waters and attempts to make them more transparent and small sections, searching for anything within.
Bukowyr goes around gathering his belongings and putting what is not his into view to someone else to know what he got. Meanwhile, he surveys the area taking mental notes of geographical aspects and Flora and Fauna to mark mark as references.

Seeing the deep gnome retrieving his gear, she checks her own and realizes some of her own has gone astray. Searching around, she does her best to assemble her things.
@Torvus - You do have everything perfectly organized in your notebook (or memory whichever you rather) but there is nothing that mentions Barovia in any of those notes or memory collected through years of study. Nothing at all.
With her things packed, Kayla looks around. The mist had receded but still a shiver ran up her spine. Not natural at all. Glancing towards the genasi, who seemed ready to head out, Kayla readied herself for what may come.
"It looks like that road, if you can call a muddy mess a road, is our best option for finding civilization. I'm ready when you are," Kayla says.
Kai, pulling away from the water after gazing down, looks around the place while everyone finishes gathering their stuff, taking note of everything around where they entered this new dimension and anything they missed before looking to the group (who by now have hopefully gathered their things) and nods. "We might as well be off, maybe find a new place to camp slightly further along this mud trail if we need. But I strongly advise against staying here." She, being the one with the lighted axe (and assuming Torvus will trail behind slightly to take notes) will begin to lead the way along the road. (Unless anything of interest is still in the area).

Most of you are able to follow the road easily, nothing but the same landscape seems to repeat (not like going in circles but just a road surrounded by eerie woods)
However Bukowyr does stumble upon something on his second surveillance stride:
The fog spills out of the forest to swallow up the road behind you. Ahead, jutting from the impenetrable woods on both sides of the road, are high stone buttresses looming gray in the fog. Huge iron gates hang on the stonework. Dew clings with cold tenacity to the rusted bars. Two headless statues of armed guardians flank the gate, their heads now lying among the weeds at their feet. They greet you only with silence.
As the fog begins to close around them, Kai will occasionally dismiss it to make it easier to see through ahead of them as they all walk (assuming this isnt devil fog), waiting for Bukowyr to return to advance the group at a faster rate. She will keep a close eye out but occasionally has to wipe the dew from her glasses. If needed, she will also recast light on her axe as they travel (if it's been over an hour).

His heart races at the site. Civilization in this dreadful land. At least there used to be one. Would there be fresh signs of their existence somewhere? Bukowyr is astonished at the gigantic monument, letting his diminutive form be engulfed by enthusiasm, apprehension and his usual alertness.
"I found two gigantic statues up ahead. They guard a double gigantic gate." he tells the others when he makes his way back to them and leads the way to the portal.

Kai will follow behind Bukowyr with the light and look up at the large structure "Any signs of others? We need to be careful in case they don't take to strangers."
She will begin to hold a sacred flame as they adventure forth, ready to attack anything that is hostile towards the group. Her fingers glow aqua green as she holds the lit axe with her other hand, assuming most are following behind her and the light. She looks at the statues quietly.
Was there anything about this in my teachings? A temple as corrupt as them should have had some knowledge of this.
Kai quietly tries to recall anything from her years at the temple with disdain as they head forward.

There is nothing that would seem dangerous or peculiar on the road that extends to the gate.

"Where is Barovia on the map?" Bukowyr asks to no one in particular, but his eyes do fall briefly longer upon the other gnome holding a book.
"If Torvus is right, it might not be on the map. Or at least a map of Faerun," Kayla replies with a frown. "Perhaps he knows more of this Borovia?"
Are we going to get a knowledge check success? Or is Ravenloft too far out of common knowledge?
