Moving over to the genasi, Kayla takes in the floor plan. The 'children' had mentioned the monster being in the basement. The main stairs hadn't offered a way down. Was there a servant's staircase that lead downstairs?
"Any floorspace not accounted for, Kai? So far we've only found stairs that go up. Even the dumbwaiter only went up. Assuming the house wants us to go down, there has to be another staircase somewhere."
Sorry, it's been a little crazy at work and then I got lazy :).
Kai almost instinctively grabs her notebook back but holds it for Kayla to look at. "Well... If we are to assume that there are no means to get down from the first floor, there may be hidden servants tunnels that lead around the house. We should keep a close eye out for anything that may be a hidden entrance."
(Did the stairs only head up from the first floor or did we all just selectively chose to go up?)

Considering his careful approach to every room has returned no worthy knowledge, Bukowyr seizes the opportunity to go up before his companions make a mess out of their eventual lack of skill when exploring sensitive places.
"Since I couldn't find anything worthy down here, I am starting our exploration of the upper floor. We may find the basement somewhere else, in a possible other room that may go all the way down."
(OOC: Can you update the map so we're on the second floor? I'd like to see if the footprint of the house on the first floor matches that of the second.)
Benito has been following silently. He wonders, "Could there possibly be a separate entrance to the basement from the outside?" He searches for a window to look out and down to the ground floor outside.
As he walk around he also whistles here and there as if calling out to a dog to see if anything responds to it.
(ooc - sorry, I got relocated to a new office where they have a ton of sites blocked and I just found a workaround :D)
(OOC: Did I miss something? We haven't been in the north and south rooms yet, right, just the bedroom where Kai's standing?)
Torvus glances pointedly at the other doors. "Shouldn't we check out these other rooms? After Bukowyr's careful ministrations, that is." He stands ready, peering in and checking for any magical auras.
Kai nods and heads over to the north door, hovering beside it and waiting for Bukowyr to check it. "I doubt anything in these populated spots would be trapped, but if you mind Bukowyr?"

"For your safety." The Svirfneblin moves swiftly across the house corridors having a mental map of each corner, room and their main characteristics, smoothly checking the north door for any danger at the entrance and inside.
Once she is told it is safe, Kai will lead the way into ththe north (western) room happily, immediately moving to draw the room layout on her floor plans.

Torvus scans the next room for magical auras. Mindful of what the others have said about a way downstairs to the basement, he carefully inspects the walls and floor for anything that looks like it would lead to a different level. (OOC: Investigation: 23, Perception: 24)
No traps or traces of magic in any of the rooms - (( If I understood correctly Torvus is in the south room and Bukowyr in the other one, right?))
South Room -
First thing you see are gossamer drapes covering the windows of this elegantly appointed hall, which has a brass-plated chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Upholstered chairs line the walls, and stained-glass wall hangings depict beautiful men, women, and children singing and playing instruments.
A harpsichord with a bench rests in the northwest corner. Near the fireplace is a large standing harp. Alabaster figurines of well-dressed dancers adorn the mantelpiece. Close inspection of them reveals that several are carvings of well-dressed skeletons.
North Room -
Red velvet drapes cover the windows of this room. An exquisite mahogany desk and a matching high-back chair face the entrance and the fireplace, above which hangs a framed picture of a windmill perched atop a rocky crag. Situated in corners of the room are two overstuffed chairs. Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves line the south wall. A rolling wooden ladder allows one to more easily reach the high shelves.
The desk has several items resting atop it: an oil lamp, a jar of ink, a quill pen, a tinderbox, and a letter kit containing a red wax candle, four blank sheets of parchment, and a wooden seal bearing the family’s insignia (a windmill).
The bookshelves hold hundreds of tomes covering a range of topics including history, warfare, and alchemy. There are also several shelves containing first-edition collected works of poetry and fiction. The books rot and fall apart if taken from the house.
Kai will look around the study room quietly and carefully for anything that can be of use or be hiding something, sketching out the floor plan quietly.
Perception: 24
She will then move to look around the desk, taking anything of interest to inspect it and checking the drawers.
Investigation: 16
With slight amusement, Kai will look to Torvus. "Any of these books peak your interest?"

The familiar smell of parchment and ink in the library brings back memories for Kayla. Her father always worked long hours balancing the caravan's books and she had sat at his feet, reading a book of her own or playing quietly with her dolls. Running her hand over the spine of several of the first editions appreciatively, she began to check the walls and book cases for anything of interest. Or perhaps those missing stairs.
While looking through the books Kai stumbles upon a suspicious book that after trying to get it out of the shelf started a mechanism that opened a secret door in the northeastern corner of the room
This secret room contains bookshelves packed with tomes describing fiend-summoning rituals and the necromantic rituals of a cult called the Priests of Osybus.
A heavy wooden chest with clawed iron feet stands against the south wall, its lid half-closed. Sticking out of the chest is a skeleton in leather armor.

Kai yelps in a slight panic as the secret door is revealed and she peers into the room. "Uh.... Guys? There's a room here with a skeleton. Bukowyr? Wanna check this for traps?"
As Kai glances at the books from a distance, she will try to recall anything about the rituals or Osybus.
Religion: 6
After she looks them over, she will return to searching the desk.
(Anything from my previous Investigation of the desk?)
(Kai's temple also is the worst apparently. XD Not like she liked it there anyway.)
Kai laughs slightly again and rolls her eyes at the guys, moving to check out the next room closest to them quietly, sketching out the floor plan.
(I think we're all in need if a slight boost since we've waited 3 days for someone to do something XD)

Is there something specific you would like to investigate or continue to the third floor?
