"I can only dispel magic one more time today, so it may be wise to exhaust all other options before I do so. I don't want to put anyone in danger, but I also suspect this will not be the last enchantment we find in this house."
OOC You can always try to break things, even if you think it may be enchanted with something harmful perhaps you can get creative with how to defend yourselves from any.. explosions.. that may results from it! For my games, if you want to break something, it will break. Your strength roll will only be used to determine how long it takes you to finally break into it and how damaged the good inside will be.
Vosnin will remove his pick and take a close look at the internals of the lock. "Hmmmm," he groans. "I'm rather sure I can crack it unless there is some magic here. I'll give it my best shot. If not, I'll just smash it." Vosnin pushes in the lockpicks and starts to work on it. Before he trips the catch, he turns away in an attempt to avoid the damage to his face and beard.

OOC: sorry about being MIA for a bit. Work has been super busy.
Vosnin bends down to work on the lock to the chest. Those awaiting in anticipation hear the sound of the catch releasing and the lid lifts slightly. It seems it was successfully picked! Vosnin opens the chest lid entirely and reveals its contents. There are two large vials filled with a red liquid, three scrolls bound with silver rings, and two small pearls that have a mystical shine swirling about their surfaces.
"Well, these appear to be healing potions. The good stuff too - greater healing potions." Tine turns the vials, inspecting them, and then places them in his backpack. He then pauses for a moment, and after reflecting, looks up at Vosnin. "I'm happy to carry them, unless you'd prefer to. There are also some spell scrolls here, one of which will cast Ice Knife - this could be the key to unlocking the door upstairs. What about those pearls? Anything interesting?"
Vosnin looks over the potions. "If I need them, I'll take one then." Vosnin holds out the pearls to show Tine. "Something magical, but I've never seen anything like them before. Hope they're not too dangerous."
"They appear to be pearls of power. A friend of mine had one of these..." Tine places one in a tiny drawstring pouch within his backpack. He holds out the other, continuing to inspect it. "Mundak should probably hold onto this one being the other spellcaster here. The pearls will allow us to regain spells...although we first need to learn the word that will activate them. Let's search for some magical ink and a pen. If I can copy the spell from this identify scroll, we can use it to find out the word."
Tine begins to search the room they're in for any ink or a pen.
You both notice there are some supplies on the desk in his bedroom. Not much but possibly enough for the inscription of the one spell scroll of identify.
OOC: No need to roll, it just takes materials and time. See spoiler from PHB:
Copying a Spell into the Book. When you find a wizard spell of 1st level or higher, you can add it to your spellbook if it is of a spell level you can prepare and if you can spare the time to decipher and copy it.
Copying that spell into your spellbook involves reproducing the basic form of the spell, then deciphering the unique system of notation used by the wizard who wrote it. You must practice the spell until you understand the sounds or gestures required, then transcribe it into your spellbook using your own notation.
For each level of the spell, the process takes 2 hours and costs 50 gp. The cost represents material components you expend as you experiment with the spell to master it, as well as the fine inks you need to record it. Once you have spent this time and money, you can prepare the spell just like your other spells.
As Tine settles in and begins to copy the spell into his book, the rest of the party paces the house. The home was definitely well maintained, it's almost sad to see it in this abandoned state. The shelves in the kitchen still full of dry goods, nuts, berries, and jerky. Spices line another shelf, all labeled and kept in small glass bottles with screw on lids. There is even a full bottle of wine sitting at the top next to what looks like a cooking oil.
Just before Tine finishes his work, you all feel a rumble. The earth below you begins to shake and your surroundings start to tremble. The bottles of spices begin to bounce off the shelves as a strong earthquake shakes the foundations of Rindal’s home. You hear a series of loud crashes from the second floor of the home. The few seconds it lasted felt like an eternity. Slowly everything stops rumbling, leaving the house in quite a state of disaster.
Heading up the stairs to the second floor reveals the source of those crashes, a portion of the third floor collapsed having been weakened from the shield guardian’s assault and the fireball’s explosion. A hole roughly 20ft in diameter now decorates the ceiling.
Tine, you finish your copy of the spell. It is now in your spellbook and can be cast as a ritual without the spell being prepared.
Further Actions:
You can all decide from here where to go. The stone statues and metal door are still upstairs, with the cold spell and the fire spell at your disposal the way can be opened. You also have that door on the main floor that can now be accessed from the kitchen as the wall joining the rooms has collapsed. As well as one book remaining on the shelf near the table on the main floor. Somehow it stayed in place despite the rest of the falling to the ground during the earthquake.
"Shall we open the door upstairs that the guardian seemed to be protecting? I feel that should be done as a group - who knows what's behind that door?" Tine stands up and waits patiently for the others to chime in.
OOC: Can I cast identify on the pearls while we're waiting to find out the word(s) needed to activate them?
Mundak is fine with waiting. Could we say that I attuned to one of the pearls while Tine was copying the spell? And if so, would that mean that I know the activation word without an identify spell?

OOC: Yes you can but as a ritual it still takes 10 minutes to cast so if the group is okay waiting longer feel free to cast identify.
