Mordai just stands there reeling from the words that Tozo just read. So it looks like the elves are the reason for my situation, guess we got some traveling to get done.
"Well for now lets attend to Sir Yedder's body and then let the village celebrate his life tonight. tomorrow we can decide on what we are going to do about it."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Donovan takes another look at the damage surrounding him, and considers Tarden. Are the elves really at fault? Do they really know that stone doesn’t burn? He seems so quick to accuse. He looks for signs he might be hiding something.
"Agamedine? Who in the Dark uses that word any more?"
Then, seeing the blank stares from the party, he elaborates:
"Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot your memories no longer work... The Agamedine were one of the human tribes, before the Empire was founded. Edgor, the first Emperor, used to be their chief first. And, well, when the Empire was founded, the tribes were dissolved. But the Elves used that name for quite a lot longer, trying to sow discord and whatnot. Their God-King, Veniseus, referred to the Empire as the Agamedine Tribe, refusing to acknowledge us as a major Nation that had left such petty divisions behind. But, since he died, I though the word was dead alongside him... At least, that's what Yed... what Yed had told me".
He gets back up.
"I agree, we need to burn Sir Yedder's body and celebrate his great life. Then, I believe, we have a score to settle with a couple of Elven wh*res".
Donovan, meanwhile, is listening to Tarden. He is absolutely sure that the man is being entirely sincere.
Tozo is the one who leaves for Genmore and returns soon with a large mule-lead cart and a couple of people. They put Sir Yedder's body on it as respectfully as possible and take him to the village. The funeral pyre is raised quite soon, with a feast being prepared as well. At the end of the day, come dusk, the pyre is lit, with Tarden the one to say the final words:
"Sir Yedder was a great man. He came from afar and made the lives of all in Genmore better. He cared for us, protected us, and never asked for anything in return. He never had a family, but, I believe, that is because we had become one for him. He was Genmore's father, its older brother, and its kindly uncle. And now, he is gone with the Light. Farewell, Sir Yedder, my friend, We will miss you dearly".
The pyre is lit and a solemn silence descends upon Genmore. While the feast is indeed ready, nobody feels like celebrating. Sir Yedder was indeed a great loss. You are seated alongside a few other villagers, which includes a family with a small daughter. Seeing the silence, the girl cannot help herself, but blurt out:
"I liked Yed, he gave me Horsey-rides..." Then, she turns to Mordai: "Will you give me Snakey-rides now?"
The Mother seems embarrassed, but the father bursts out laughing and is soon joined by others, who overheard as well. Thanks to this, the mood shifts and, slowly, people do indeed begin celebrating Sir Yedder's life. Toasts are heard all around, with memories of the Centaur being shared.
At the end of the night, Tarden approaches you.
"I am sorry, friends, that I was unable to pay attention to you at this feast. You see, the villagers decided to elect me as their new leader, until another knight is assigned to Genmore. For this, someone needs to go to Totrichel, as that is where the Baron resides. This also means, that I will be unable to travel, as the village needs all the attention I can give it. So, since the Elves are, as far as we know, in Totrichel, can you go formally on my behalf? You will be acting as representatives of Genmore, asking for a new Knight to be appointed, and, before the Baron gives you an audience, you will have time to find out about the Elves too, who are responsible for Yed... and your memory-loss. I believe, that will be good for all of us. And, also, you will be able to sell your loot there as well. For that, I used the village's funds and purchased the cart and the mule from Dougal, so it is yours now. I hope to see you again, but, even if I do not, it was a great honor knowing you. Farewell, my friends".
A reluctant smiles spreads across Mordai's face at the question from the little girl that turns into a much needed laugh. With a look at the parents for approval, Mordai will take the girls hand and walk her over to an empty space among the revelers.
"OK, here is what I want you to do, stick your hands up over your head like you are flying and then close your eyes and imagine you are flying in the clouds escorting Sir Yedder to the gods." At which point I will stand behind the girl quietly cast invisibility on myself and then pick the girl up at the waste and carry her over my head then start running around the town for as long as she wants.
After most of the evening in silence Morgan listens and replies to Tarden.
“It does seem we are to go to Totrichel and speak with the Baron, for multiple reasons, so I say we rest tonight and set out in the morning, we take out cart and goods with us and sell them as soon as we can so we don’t have to hold onto them, then we go straight to the Baron I just hope he will take an audience. We won’t take long hopefully and with Tarden looking after Genmore I feel more comfortable leaving.”
Morgan sits and listens through the whole night he could not remember if he was close to anyone who had died, with his memory gone, but he knew he disliked the feeling of loss and wanted to stay away from it as much as possible.
The little Girl is overjoyed by Mordai's trick. So much so, that once they are done, she hugs the Dragonborn, and for quite a long time too.
After the feast, everyone goes to sleep. Next day, you wake up and prepare to leave for Totrichel. Tarden, now titled Mayor of Genmore (Which is a title used when there is no knight for the village) approaches you:
"My friends, I went through Yed's room this morning... Whoever comes here to take his place, will inherit his quarters too, so I thought I'd be more respectful than whoever that is, so I tidied up some things and... Well, I found something. I checked, and he had it made for you, so here"
With this, he hands you a sheet of cloth. It is a sheet of ruby-colored silk, which definitely is not cheap. And, on it, in Black letters, some text is embroidered. It looks like this:
"This is the Song of the Immolated. You never got the chance to visit the Monastery, but this song depicts those, who were incinerated in the towers where we found you, as well as Dunston, the monk, who sacrificed himself and those imprisoned, to foil the Tails' plans. Yed said he told you about that before. So, I guess, he wanted you to have this, to remember him by. So here".
Needing a little bit of time to compose himself, Tarden continues soon:
"Now, when you arrive at Totrichel, you should also mention that you killed the Tails' local leader, and show them the black banner you brought from their camp. It might make you a few friends and can be somewhat useful there. I hope things go well. Take care, friends. I hope to see you again".
Tarden leaves. The little girl, whose name turns out to have been Harenne, comes crying before you leave, hugs Mordai and gives him a large red flower as a gift. She is soon taken away by her parents, who, along with the rest of the population of Genmore, assemble to say goodbye and show their appreciation for you. With this, you board the cart and leave Genmore for good. Your next destination, Totrichel, awaits.
You all feel a sense of accomplishment, and feel that you have grown in power and experience after helping Genmore and finishing this chapter of your life.
The road to Totrichel is not all that long, but it does take about 24 hours. So, you are still en route, when dusk settles. You can either make camp, send scouts ahead and go with caution, or just continue your way as before. What do you do?
Before leaving Regi would speak to Tarden, "Tarden, I'm sorry about Yedder, he seemed like a good man and treated all of us well. I would ask that you send a team back to that mage's tower we first went to. Check to see about anymore notes about the rival mage we warned Yedder about. And comb it for scrolls or other magical items you may find useful. We will continue to honor Yedder and Tarden, we will do anything you need. So we will go, we will be your advocate, count on us."
(ooc: have we come across studded leather in our loot or would there be some in the armory? I'd like to trade out my chain shirt if possible -- otherwise i'll try and buy some in the new town.)
"I think we should make camp, and take watches... I'll try and find a nice place off the trail for us to settle, maybe hunt a couple small game for us." survival: 9
After hearing the beautiful words Mordai will thank Tarden for the sheet and reverently wrap it up and place it in his belongings. With a farewell to the town and a wave to the kids, Mordai promises himself that he will return to Genmore again.
For most of the days travel Mordai will involve himself in any conversations that are started with him, but he will keep to himself mostly, thinking about what has happened to him over the past several days and if there was anything he could have done differently. Mordai is not any good at survival it is turning out but he will happily help Regi and will offer to take third watch.
"So one of the jobs Sir Yedder had for us was to meet these elves as they were complaining abut wolves or some such n the area. I did not see any evidence of them, not that I was really looking, but I wonder if they were wolves or maybe something else. Thinking back over the fire, it does not seem likely the elves started it, and maybe they did not even kill Sir Yedder. Why ask for our help and then go and kill the person you were asking help from?" Shaking his head in frustration, "Something is not adding up correctly, and I just am not sure what it is. Hopefully we can find some answers in Totrichel."
Donovan spends the first night thinking about his faith. Obviously he serves some god because his prayer spells work, but who does he serve? And why does he have his divine abilities, but his deity is unknown to him? He has a feeling of joyfulness, of celebrating life, but doesn’t know if that is real or just a dream, or just desperation of not knowing himself. This past day, who did he pray to when asking for assistance?
“Mordai I share your concerns. I actually thought that maybe Tarden was hiding something but as I watched him he seemed to be telling the truth. Still, elves don’t know stone doesn’t burn? Even the forest has rocks. I wonder if they were setup and we were meant to find that journal.
I agree with making camp. We should take turns on watch, but otherwise try to get some good sleep before arriving and gaining audience with the Barron.”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
There is indeed quite a bunch of studded leather in the stockpile Sir Yedder had accrued, so Reginald has a chance to take one, with Tarden's permission, of course.
Tozo mentions something, while all of you are busy making camp:
"I was wondering about Sir Yedder and the Elves too. He mentioned, that the Elves had been complaining about animals, and it was Sir Yedder who assumed they might mean wolves. However, remember, the Elf we met referred to Sir Yedder as "a horse". I think, that by animals, they meant the Tails and this is the result of some sense of superiority she clearly showed when talking to us. Also, yeah, I know they realize stone does not burn, but when you are in a hurry, you might think - "I'll burn down this house" and not really consider what it is made of, as, in your practice, all houses burn".
The camp is made on a small hill overlooking the road, with one of you being on watch all the time (OOC: I assume).
It is almost dawn, when whoever is on watch hears sounds coming from the North-West. It is clearly someone or something creeping towards your camp, likely attempting to sneak up on you. Whoever was on watch has the time to wake up others and prepare.

The Party is alerted and gets ready for whatever may be coming their way. Soon, they see three men coming from the North-West, who see the party in turn. The men are armed and somewhat armored, and are clearly looking for a fight. However, they are not dressed for sneaking around, which is why the party had such a long time to prepare for them, that they were able to fully prepare for a fight.
