Rigg nods. "Agreed. I'd like to get out of these woods sooner rather than later," he adds. Breni has calmed down quite a bit, but still has her arms draped around Rigg's neck. He lifts her up and starts moving back toward the caravan.
You divvy up the chests for the journey back, and start backtracking along the vague trail. You pass the area where your first encounter with the bandits took place, but the bandit you left unconscious is gone. Everyone does a quick scan of the area, but there's no sign of him or which way he might have gone.
It takes a few hours to get back to the caravan, but it's still light out when you start to push through the shrubs and enter the clearing. Fenfer runs teary-eyed to his daughter. She jumps out of Rigg's arms and embraces her father. He opens his eyes to look at all of you with an unsaid Thank you. After a few moments, he tells Breni to go and get something to eat - one of the other caravan members has a big pot of something on the fire - and he turns to you all. "Thank you all so much. Obviously I can never repay you for this deed, but if you ever need anything from me, please don't hesitate to ask." He looks up at Rigg and pats him on the arm, nodding.
The gnome merchant, who has been waiting patiently for the family affair to conclude, walks over to the chests. He opens and inspects them carefully. "A great many thank yous for returning my belongings!" He reorganizes some things, and then pulls a few of the fancier looking items out of the chests. He hesitates for a few seconds, but then looks up at you all. "Please, each of you should take something. It's the least I can do."
Everyone please choose one of the following to add to your inventory (there are multiple healing potions available):
"We probably shouldn't linger here, there could be more out there. Might be better to eat on the move." He motions towards the pot. "I can take the night watches if you like, but it'll mean sleeping as we travel. Well at least part of it."
"I agree. Let's get back on the road," Rigg chimes in and starts to pack up his things. A lot of the other caravan members were already packed and waiting, so it isn't long before the whole group is trudging along down the road again.
"We're only about a day's ride from Littleton. We can water the horses and get a home-cooked meal there," the gnome seems fairly knowledgeable about the area. "And Lovilra is only another day or two from there, depending on how fast we move."
After about an hour the sun starts to set, and you find a nice, level patch of grass on one side of the road. It slopes upward a bit and crests to a hill, with some fields and small groupings of trees beyond.
OOC: Let me know if you'd like to do anything or chat before going to bed. Lucinda, please pick one of the items whenever you get around to it.

Burik has the same vague dream he had the night before. A distant green glow catches his attention in a sea of swirling darkness. It doesn't get much closer, though. It appears to be trapped in some type of dense fog, shrouding its light and true shape. Suddenly everything goes black...yet Burik can make out an even darker extension of the blackness reaching out toward him. It pierces him as shooting pain ripples through his body. He awakes to find someone...something?...standing over him and reaching out with a shadowy blade.
Attack: 20 Damage: 5 necrotic damage. The blade pushes into Burik's armor but instead of penetrating it, it seems to disperse into a dark cloud. As the creature pulls it back up, the blade reforms. Burik's strength score decreases by 1 until a short/long rest. It is now 13 (+1).
The figure looks vaguely human, but is partially transparent. It's almost as if the outline of a person had come to life, with bits and pieces of itself filling in with shadow. As Burik realizes what is happening, he sees two more of these shadowy outlines cresting over the hill.
Haha, no worries. I have issues with the dice roller constantly.
Lucina is startled awake by the commotion. As her eyes adjust, she notices the outline of a figure standing over Burik, with two more behind them moving in the direction of the camp.
Lucina leaps to her feet and runs to Burik's aid. As she's moving across the clearing, she pulls out her rapier...
Attack: 16
Damage: 9
...and plunges it into the figure. It...he?...looks up, somewhat surprised and angered. The edges of his shadowy frame seem to fade away, and in a moment, he's gone.
The two remaining figures don't seem to be bothered by their companion being disposed of, but they do focus on Lucina and float across the grass toward her.
Attack: 9 Damage: 5Strength decreases by 1 to 11 total.
Attack: 12 Damage: 4Strength decreases by 1 to 10 total.
Both of their attacks appear to miss, but as their shadowy forms move through Lucina's physical body, she feels some kind of draining force affecting her.

It cuts through the chest of the figure, breaking apart the outline of the shadow, but slowly the shape starts to come together again. As it struggles to keep it's shape, Rigg joins the fray, swinging his longsword at the same figure Percival just attacked.
Attack: 18 Damage: 8
Rigg cuts clean through the congealing shape, breaking into a puff of darkness.

Burik pulls something from his amulet that glows in his closed fist. "Mark the way to their rest" He says it quietly, yet it seems to echo louder for a moment as he opens his hand, palm out towards the last shadowy figure. A blast of bright light flies towards it. (Guiding Bolt)
The final figure bursts apart into fleeting shadows as the radiant energy tears through it. A few of the pieces of shadow turn a faint shade of green as they disperse. Everyone looks around, adrenaline pumping, but relieved that there weren't more of the figures.
You are out of combat.
