The Void Skipper is an Astral Sloop. It can skip through planes and visit a number of strange worlds. However, right now, both the Void Skipper and the whole universe seem to be in some kind of trouble.
Wilhelm, the ship's chaplain, has barely managed to warn the crew, that something horrible is happening. he threw an artifact of some great importance onto the Sloop and disappeared. Seconds after that, an explosion rocked the Sloop.
You will wake up to find, that the Void Skipper is stranded in a world none of you have ever heard about. Now, it is up to you to find out what is going on, fix the ship and save the universe.
Create a level 5 character, with his or her backstory explaining how and why they came to join the crew of the Void Skipper. Also, you need to specify what they did on the ship (two roles will be unavailable - The Captain and the Chaplain are NPCs).
Full disclosure: This is an attempt to salvage a campaign that was effectively abandoned by the players save for two and the DM. However, the original campaign had barely started, with what you have read above being, essentially, all that happened. So, there will be nothing you will have missed, not being part of the original.
Campaign Rules
Campaign Type: Open World, Intrigue, Adventure
Number of PCs: No more than 5, with 1 spot being already taken. In total, if there are more than five people willing to participate, I will choose among them.
Levels: 5+ (Start at level five, with no pre-determined final level)
Restrictions: No homebrew or variant rules of any kind are allowed.
Tactics: We will be using maps, as all combat will be tracked using maps that I will upload every round. I like theater of the mind as much as the next guy, but, when playing online, I find that tactical maps work better.
Additional Rules: I will be rolling initiative for all players and averaging their result, then comparing it to the averaged result of the enemies. Whichever wins, gets to go first. Players themselves can act in any order they wish.
Posting Rules
You should post at least once per day. If you do not post for a day, I may act for your character for the turn. Frequent absence will cause your character to be replaced. The weekend will be treated as a single day, as most people, I find, have trouble finding time for online D&D on the weekends.
You should try to roleplay, including talking as your character. You should pick a single color, which will denote your character’s speech, so that it is easier to identify.
You should be friendly to the group. Any toxic behavior may cause your character to be removed. Any actions that ruin the fun of others cannot be tolerated.
How to Play
If you are interested, post here or message me with the following information:
How long have you been playing TTRPGs and D&D 5e?
How much experience do you have with Play-by-Post games?
What type of campaigns do you prefer (combat-heavy or roleplay-heavy, dungeon-crawls or open worlds, etc.)?
What character would you like to play (the PC must be fifth level, with restrictions provided above. All scores must be rolled (roll 4d6, drop the lowest), with all 1s being rerolled. We will be using milestone levelling).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Have been playing play-by-post for a little over a year.
Refer to first answer.
I tend to prefer dungeon crawls.
Bala, Tabaxi Rouge, Cook
Backstory :
Bala was born on a plane called Iirru. A, from what he's been told, very 'modest' plane with not a whole lot going on. Well, Bala didn't choose to live modestly. He learned to steal before he learned to walk. The small town he grew up in had wanted posters of every corner of every building before he turned twelve. It got to the point where he practically lived in his cell, with the guards not knowing how easily he can slip in and out of the bars. At sixteen, he decided that he's had enough fun with this small town and decided to leave at night. Unfortunately, he didn't get far as the sky cracked open and the weirdest ship he had ever seen flew out. Bala had never tempered his need for shiny things, so he unconsciously followed the ship to where it settled in an open field. When he was sure the coast was clear, be snuck on. He grabbed every shiny thing his hands, mouth, and teeth could hold and snuck back out. A few hours passed and the ship didn't leave. He had heard some commotion inside, probably those who own it realizing stuff was taken. That's when he had a thought: He didn't feel bad for taking their stuff, but being out on the road alone didn't seem favorable. With that in mind, he revealed himself, showed the stolen goods and offered to be a cook as an apology.
So, we have more than enough players, I will be going through the sheets once all are submitted and filling our team. In the meantime, this thread is closed.

Bala seems very interesting, so he's in. I have also received two more characters who are likely to be in as well. So, we are filling up fast.
