From the back of the cart you see a large, grey-skinned man with jet-black hair approaching. He is dressed in plain, simple clothing, but it is topped with chain mail. Around his neck hangs a large symbol, a sun with shining rays. A mace hangs from his belt and a shield is strapped to his muscular shoulders. His eyes are a startling blue, contrasting strangely with the jagged teeth jutting from his hard jaw. He takes in the woman, the dwarf, his steps slowing, then, spying the large man, speeds up again. "This the job for Gundren?" he asks the group.
A tired looking human approaches the cart, his chain mail gleaming in the sun despite the obvious wear on some of the links. "So this the rag tag band Gundren has pulled together eh?" The human adjusts his weapons, as he wanders over to the familiar oxen and gives the beast of burden a friendly pat on the head.
A scraggy Tabaxi dressed in a dark mage robe enters the city. His fur a light brown colour with dark brown mane flowing down from the top of his head. He tries his best to tidy up his hair, robe and muddy boots with Prestidigitation before approaching the group. He looks towards the dwarf and bows slightly.
"You must be Gundren. I've heard you were looking for capable people for an escort quest? I'm in dire need of some coin, so I would be very willing to help."
Names Vidarr Grimmson, formerly of the Longstride Herd, a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Once the loading is complete he will pick up his lute again and continue to tune it
His attention drawn away from the Oxen, Gorne turns to his new acquaintances, "Hello, its good to meet you all, I'm Gorne Hawthorne". The veteran caravan guard takes the time to weigh all of his new companions, it pays to know the limitations of your allies just in case a job goes bad.
The large half-orc nods at each as they introduce themselves. "Name's Klarth. May the light shine upon our journey," he says gruffly, then immediately falls silent again. If anything remains to be loaded on the cart, he will assist, otherwise he will stand quietly, eyes scanning the area around them.
"Sorry, but I'm afraid Gundren left sometime last night," the dwarf said to the tabaxi. "My name is Belmiir Stonebeard. I'm just here to prepare the cart for all of you." With that, the old dwarf tossed the final sack up onto the wagon. He came around to face the party before saying "Well, Gundren said he'd be hiring 4 or 5 guards, so I imagine that's the lot of you. I'm sure you're all well aware of the arrangement- take the wagon down the southern trail to Phandalin and deliver it's contents to Barthen’s Provisions." He rifled through his coat pockets before pulling out a folded up paper, and handing it to Gorne. "Here's a map in case you all somehow manage to get lost, the reigns are up there," he gestures over his shoulder to the seat of the wagon, "and the trip shouldn't take more than a day." He walked around to survey the cart one last time, stopping to stand closer to the gates of Neverwinter. "Well, if no one has any other questions, I'll be heading home now. Good luck on your journey everyone."
"Unless anyone else has experience driving a cart I'll take the reins" says Gorne, knowing the area quite well he puts the map into his bag without opening it. "Thanks for preparing everything for us Belmiir, it is much appreciated"Gorne waits for a response from his companions and will take the reins if there are no other takers, otherwise he will walk beside the cart.
I’ll walk that cart looks a little bit small for me, and it’s good for me to practice walking and playing my lute at the same time. Makes it less likely I’ll fall off a stage in a tavern
With that, you all set out on your journey. Gorne driving the wagon, Cinder riding along, Vidarr walking alongside it, Elora taking the lead, and Klarth guarding the rear. Phandalin is a full day's journey from here, so you'll have plenty of time to get acquainted with your travelling party. The path you're on travels south, surrounded by woods. Near the start of your journey, the coast is visible to the west, but as the day goes by, the coast drifts further and further from the trail.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Vidarr strolls along playing on his lute trying to keep the tedium of travel at bay. Any requests? I’ll see if I know it and if I don’t lets see if you can teach me!
Elora chuckles a bit at the mistuned chords, and while smiling at Vidarr says "Come on big guy, that lute sounds like it still needs some tuning. Why don't you play us the typical Neverwinter Inn song. I think it's called " Here be Mead". "
"It goes something like this" Elora straps her staff across her backpack, and starts doing a funny dance while singing:
"Hey! Ho! To the bottle I go. To heal my heart and drown my woe. Rain may fall and wind may blow, But there still be many miles to go.
Sweet is the sound of the pouring rain, And the stream that falls from hill to plain. Better than rain or rippling brook, Is a beer of mug inside this schnook."

Elora approaches each person, gives them a handshake and introduces herself "Nice to meet you all, my name's Elora. What may I call you all?"
After the introductions she starts doing some stretches, preparing for the trip ahead.

EDIT: Noticed some autocorrect issues
"I'll walk, I can go in front and keep a lookout" says Elora, volunteering to walk about 30 ft ahead of the cart to scout the way.
"I'll take the rear," Klarth says, and walks to stand behind the cart.
The tabaxi thanks Belmiir and turns to the rest of the party.
"My name is Cinder. Nice to make your acquaintance everyone. I would prefer to ride on the cart if that's no issue."

Klarth watches his companions with interest, eyes darting everywhere. He remains silent, but takes in everything.
Here Be Mead? hmmm remind me of that one?
