This adventure promises to be an unusual one, answering the question of what would happen to a relatively normal d&d world setting if you unleashed players in place of the most powerful extant beings (short of the GM) on the face of the world, and let them make their own fun. As the GM, I will occasionally throw in magic items of awesome power and other such mcguffins to encourage whoever wishes to join to take on a more personal adventure, if that is to one's taste. However, I am also more than happy to elaborate on the intricate inner workings of a society built around a literal god-king or queen and their internal and external disputes. In short, I invite the players to be the gods of a new pantheon, testing their abilities in a world suddenly devoid of divine power.
If you are interested, please send me a pm with a description of yourself as a player, your previous experience (especially pbp experience), and your character concept. (See character creation guidelines below.)
This game is likely to be oddly paced, so don't be concerned if things slow down for a while. Real life is more important than play, and I for one have an unusual travel schedule, which sometimes means I won't respond for hours or even a few days. I will do my best to let all players know when these breaks occur. However, I also expect the same of my players. Oh, and naturally, don't be unnecessarily awful in your interactions with me or with other players. Rule of Cool applies.
On the other hand, please role play hard and well - I can only work with what you give me, as in this case you are shaping the world nearly as much as I.
- In order to better flesh out the characters, exploits, and identities of each of the players, the first part of this game will be played in a turn-based format, each turn marking the passing of a century. During this time, in pm, we will work out who does (or attempts to do) what. Want to build an awesome fortress? That's your first hundred years. Forge a mighty artifact? There you go. We will run the game this way for between 3-5 turns, depending on activity levels all around and the scale of individual plans. We may break into normal d&d style play should it be necessary to run combat after some fashion.
- Note: Due to this format, this game will quickly become a web of loosely connected threads, which I will expect my players to help me keep track of as needed. Who said being a deity was easy?
- As mentioned, there will be instances of combat and actual rolls made against each other. However, please note that these will almost never be actual measures of success vs. failure, but rather merely degrees of success.
- Character Creation: What you will need
- Name
- A physical description
- General domain (Nature, War, Death, Life, Magic, Stone, Fire, Ocean, Storm, so on - be creative).
- Source of your power/method of increasing in power.
- A singular ability that is unique and core to your character (you may learn, practice, or develop others later - indeed, I encourage you to do so).
- A symbol commonly used in reference to your character (may change relative to one's later deeds)
Here is an example, to better expand on these guidelines.
- Lukre
- Generally dressed in a gold robe, with little else in the way of ostentatious garments, Lukre is a short, thin man with slightly yellowish skin. However, his appearance is known to change (more on this later).
- Domain: Wealth
- Lukre gains in power in direct correlation to the amount and quality of wealth in his immediate presence or in safe locations with which he is familiar (a bank vault, for instance). His physical appearance changes with regard to the intensity of this power, usually corresponding directly to body mass as he may grow to several times his normal height and density in the presence of much treasure, as well as taking on different physical characteristics.
- Lukre is a shapeshifter, and uses this ability in tandem with his own cunning to acquire wealth. This explains the reflection of his power levels in physical shape.
- A common symbol used in association with Lukre is that of a Gilded Dragon consuming a golden Rat, both of which are preferred nonhuman forms.
Take this as a general example of what your character could look like.
Certainly is - send me a pm and be ready to workshop a character concept or two! Definitely still need fill ins for pretty much all of the major domains.

Haven’t used this account in forever. Still a big fan of crawling claws.
This still a thing? It sounds quite cool!
