Group A: Elspeth and Soar Group B: Kobolds 3 and 4 Group C: Jalt Group D: Kobolds 1 and 2 Group E: Breena
Elspeth and Soar are up. As no overtly hostile actions have take place yet, attempts at diplomacy, intimidation etc. can certainly be made, if you like. Success not guaranteed. :) Make the appropriation Persuasion, Deception or other check as you do.
Soar sees the kobolds, freezes, and then tries to make herself relax visibly and adopting the same tone of voice and the wicked smile she did with the last group, calls out, "oh it's you, thank the Queen. We've got orders to tell everyone to follow the dragon[whatever direction Soar saw the dragon fly to], after they drove it off. Grab your loot and go!"
As she's talking, she moves north one square and east two squares, calm as she can. She doesn't drop her hammer to her side, but she's not threatening them with it. She readies an action (attack with warhammer) if the kobolds do anything threatening, or if they don't seem to be buying her ruse (vanilla d20 rolls 4, 6, +3 deception, +5 persuasion, use however you want).
Elspeth frowns at the Kobolds, who didn't seem inclined to leave the group alone. She takes a step east, taking up the space Soar vacated.
"You have your orders. Leave, and join the rest of the unit. We'll take over this part of the village." She informs the kobolds, projecting as much authority into her voice as she daredher hands by her side, ready to shoot a stone at the kobolds if they attack Elspeth or her party members.
Persuasion/deception/cha related skill:13 Readied attack:12 Damage: 4
And that's exactly what happens. Jalt's mace clocks the poor kobold on the head and it collapses to the ground. (Was that intended to be non-lethal damage?) Kobold 4 is out of the fight.
Kobolds 1 and 2, seeing that their friends have been cut down so easily, turn tail and run, for once not yipping or screeching but moving as silently as they can. They are able to get a good sixty feet from you.
Breena is up next, and Elspeth and Soar will follow. Do you wish to go after them or make ranged attacks, or let them escape?
(OOC: Yes non-lethal.. Jalt still has that priest mentality where drawing blood is last resort. Had Kobold attacked and drawn blood, then it's an eye for an eye situation )

Jalt grabs the unconscious kobold and binds his arms and legs. One step at a time. Perhaps this little minion might be able to point us in the right direction. He looks to the others and almost loses track of where he is for a second. Oh little one, you don't know any better. He places his hand on the kobold's head. Bahamut has spared your life today. I will be able to extract information from this one, once we awaken him.

Combat is over; the two other kobolds have fled. You notice that they seem to be running out of town, and not towards the centre.
It is still very very dark, now the dead of night. Looking north from the trees into town, you can still see fires here and there, though the town hasn't been burned to any great degree, just the odd building and haystack. You also hear cries, but fewer than before; there's no sense of any one location where activity is greater.
Clara shivers, and not from the cold. This night is... it's too much. We're just a farming town. Who are these people? She shakes her head. Are you... are you going to let it... I mean, him... live? She points to the kobold hesitantly.
Jalt looks to Clara and nods. He does not need to die today. They are curious beings, the kobold. We are so alike in many ways. Now, once we wake him... I would not suggest you or Badger stand near him. They've a certain predilection for attacking your kind. He sits the kobold up against a tree stump. Quickly, we can wake him up and I can talk to him. I believe the threat of death may lead him to opening up about who is in charge and where they are.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Soar nearly takes off and tries to hurl a javelin at the fleeing kobols, but stops and thinks better of it. "Well, I trust they've learned their lesson."
She comes back and helps tie the kobold to the tree. "I'm not sure what he'll tell us, and I'm not personally very experienced in interrogation. But Jalt wants to give it a try, so maybe it'll work. Clara and Badger, do you want to go off and keep watch and let us know if you see or hear anything out there? Jalt, let's wake him up with a goodberry and have his mouth covered so he doesn't cry out to bring his friends over without our say-so. If he just keeps yelling, we'll have to knock him out again and gag him and move on as planned. Other than where the people wearing the robes are, what else are we going to ask them?"
(Here's a vanilla d20 roll for intimidation +3/persuasion +5: 19, and a second 14 if we can get advantage by working together with a good cop/bad cop routine -- Soar will happily be good cop or pretend to be a mean death knight as a bad cop -- it's Jalt's choice.)
Clara nods and moves away a little, reassured that the kobold will not be murdered in cold blood. She stands, just visible in the distance, keeping a wary eye on the town for anyone approaching close enough to hear you.
(You don't need to give me the full good cop bad cop routine, but it would be good to get a taste of it, so I can set the DC and be sure if it's Persuasion or Intimidation.)
Upon seeing the kobolds flee, Elspeth's hands drop to her side, and she strides towards the unconscious kobold.
"What're we suppose to do with him when we finish questioning? Just leave him here?"She asks, leaning slightly on the tree that the Kobold was tied to to take the weight off her feet. "It would be nice to know who's leading this attack, I suppose, if he knows. If we can extract some information from him about why they're attacking, then so much the better."
Jalt takes a goodberry from Elspeth and leans over to the kobold, feeds him the goodberry and quickly covers his mouth with the hilt of his mace. He waits for the goodberry to take effect and as soon as sees the kobold open its eyes... [in draconic] If you scream, the job I started when I first hit you, will be completed. I will not kill you if you give me no reason to. Jalt points to Soar. She on the other hand, well, see that blood on her Warhammer? It won't be pretty. Answer a few questions and you can run off and join your brothers who deserted this fight. Why are you here? Who is in charge? Where are they or how can we find them? Jalt starts to ease the hilt of the mace out of the kobold's face.. waiting to see if the kobold will respond

Soar's readied attack with warhammer to K3:
Attack: 24 Damage: 11
The kobolds seem to pay little attention to Soar's words, and she immediately adopts a hostile stance, her weapon ready to strike if needed.
Elspeth is up.

The kobolds appear not to be deceived by your efforts. Kobolds 3 and 4 rush in to attack.
Soar's readied attack triggers, and Kobold 3 is killed instantly, the giant warhammer splatting it onto the ground.
Elspeth's stone flies towards Kobold 4, and hits, though it remains alive.
Kobold 4 makes an attack on Soar with its little dagger:
Attack: 9 Damage: 5
It deals 6 points of piercing damage as it finds a nice spot between two pieces of armour, and sticks the tiny blade in.
Jalt is up.

Jalt shakes his head, raises his mace and rushes at Kobold 4 hoping to knock him out of the fight before the others advance...
