When Jalt points to Soar's mace, she begins dropping the head up and down in her other hand. After Jalt finishes his questioning, she leans in with fierce eyes and says, "Come on, little one. I believe in you. I just know you can cooperate. You'll have a fun story to tell your friends if you answer his questions quietly. If not, well, this hammer has become very good at turning kobolds into paste. It's the kind of thing you don't want to have to see for yourself. Better to take my word for it."
She looks at him, intensely, using her paladin divine sense ability, which makes her eyes flash with a bright green light for a few seconds (she can sense undead/celestials/fiends -- not expecting it to yield results but she's going for effect, in addition to confirming that this is just a kobold).
The kobold squirms for a moment, its eyes wide. However, it stops, and as Jalt removes his hand, it replies. We're here for loot. Take things from the humans and elves and gnomes. We follow the Dragon Lady. The kobold stares at Jalt, seemingly unable to take his eyes from the dragonborn. Don't you serve the Dragon Lady too, dragon-brother?
Soar, you don't detect any celestials, fiends or undead.
Jalt moves in a little closer and almost in a whisper [in draconic] I serve the one true god, brother. And it was that one true god who sent me here to find the Dragon Lady. But all we have found is many of your kind, attacking us. We seek the Dragon Lady, or at the very least one of her priests, little one. Surely you can assist us in finding one of them. You surely will be rewarded for this information.

The kobold looks at you, Jalt. Dragon Lady is scary. But you can talk to the bosses, they know where she is. He points north and east into town. They're over there. Nasty humans, they don't like kobolds much. Even though we're dragonkin, and better than any human. He seems angry, and then remembers where he is. Will you let me go?
If you lead us to them, I will let you go. But if you try to run, try to scream.. Jalt shakes his head Then the scary Dragon Lady is going to be the least of your problems, brother.Again he points to Soar. You shall have safety once you show us where they are and you must never come back to this town ever again.

The kobold nods eagerly. Yes, yes, yes. Come with me. I can take you. He moves a few feet, then staggers and comes to a stop, clearly wincing in pain from his wounds. He turns back and looks at Jalt. Nice berry?
Clara looks on with an expression on her fact that's difficult to read: Shouldn't we bind him? He might just rat us out. Or run off.
Jalt looks at the kobold and nods If he tries to escape, he dies. If he rats us out, he dies. If he leads us to them without incident, he lives a prosperous life in the glory of the true Dragon god. Do you understand, little one?

Soar spends the whole time very close to the kobold, with her warhammer head lifting and dropping into her other hand. "Let's make sure this goes easily. I think he might cooperate more if his hands are tied behind his back. You don't need your mouth tied shut, do you?"
Soar will walk right behind the kobold, ready to knock him out again with her hammer the second she hears him make a noise above a whisper. She suggests Jalt walk next to her so she can guide him in the dark, and then Breena, Elspeth, and Clara can range on the trio's perimeter. She will look and listen for anyone else as they move northeast (perception 16), hoping that the obvious and nonstealthy pair of them guarding the kobold will be seen and the three little ones can lie in wait, per the original plan of an ambush.
With the bound kobold guiding you, you make your way through the streets of Greenest in the dark, with only a little light to guide Jalt. The kobold leads you confidently, but doesn't seem keen to come upon any other raiders, and helps you remain out of sight as one or two larger packs pass by.
After a few minutes, the kobold looks at you frantically, to get you to stop. You are on the verge of an open area, perhaps a small square or crossroads in the town, but for the moment your party is concealed behind a building. There is a low wall, perhaps a garden wall just ahead and to the side; you could creep closer and take a look; any characters who wish to, roll a Stealth check (disadvantage if you are in heavy armour).
Soar whispers that they've been led far enough and perhaps the quieter members could take a look and see if there might be any smaller groups to target. Once they find one, they can return and send Jalt or Soar out to get their attention to draw back to the ambush. She looks around for an enclosed, covered place to serve for an ambush site...
Elsepth is careful to keep an eye out as she continues making her way through the town, always careful to keep to the shadows. She slows as she notes the crossroads, keeping close to the rest of her party.
"I can go take a look and then lead them back if they don't look too threatening." She whispers quietly to the others, "Unless one of you'd prefer the job."
If they see me, they will attack on sightreplies Jalt This holy symbol that adorns my armor is a dead give away. Better for you or Badger to try and lure them to us.

Soar looks around; there are a few buildings that seem empty, and you might manage an ambush inside or behind one of them. However, at the moment you're not sure what you're facing, until someone moves ahead and gets a clear view.
Elspeth nods and begins to creep slowly towards the crossroads, carefully staying within the shadows. Before she takes more than a few steps, she turns back, and mouths to Soar to find a place to hide before continuing to move forward.
Badger begins to make her way towards the low wall, but immediately steps on some dry leaves and makes a rustling sound. Clara grabs her fellow gnome, shakes her head, and motions over to a place behind the building where the kobold, Soar, Jalt, Clara and Badger can all hide and wait.
Elspeth, you inch forwards as far as the low wall, and take a look out.
It's a large square, and perhaps serves as a gathering place on happier days; the ground seems well trodden but also well maintained. Fortunately, there is no-one very close, as you feel yourself to be less stealthy than you hoped. But you do see a large gathering of people on the far side, perhaps sixty feet from you. There are over a dozen people gathered together, speaking. Twelve of them are wearing a uniform you haven't yet seen; leather, but black and extremely well made; they look dangerous and far beyond what you could face alone. However, from their stance and the way their eyes keep a close eye upon her, it's clear who they are guarding.
A woman stands, erect and confident, holding a large halberd. She speaks in short bursts; what little of the sound carries to you suggests she is barking orders, and she is not happy. Before her, three humans stand, wearing similar clothes as those who attacked you in the Sally Port; their postures are deferential, they bow and are clearly anxious, perhaps afraid, of the woman standing before them.
Elspeth, you can roll a Perception check to try to hear a bit more of their conversation if you wish.
Soar, Jalt and Badger, you can see and hear none of this. You are gathered together in a cluster behind a nearby building, unable to get a clear view of the square; Clara is watching the kobold suspiciously.
When Jalt points to Soar's mace, she begins dropping the head up and down in her other hand. After Jalt finishes his questioning, she leans in with fierce eyes and says, "Come on, little one.
