Aiwin sighs as his body remains tense a little, after a moment he drops his bow and looks around "Anyone object to a good rest real quick?" he asks as he begins to collect arrows and then search the bodies for any clues or valuables.
OOC: investigation for searching bodies for loot/information: 9
Aiwin, searching the bodies you find a total of 53 gold, 26 silver and 65 copper pieces; it's clear that the robed cultists were wealthier and higher status than the others.
You also find that one of the robed cultists also holds a bag full of papers, but you can't make head nor tail of them.
Bazavur disappears and reappears next to the last combatant, ready to strike and sees him turn into a pincushion. He waits briefly for something or someone else to appear. When nothing does show he walks over to the portal, standing guard and ready to strike should something show up while the rest of the group canvases the area.
”Let me take a look at those papers while we rest,” says Tobin. He will ritually cast Comprehend Languages if needed, and he will also use Arcane Recovery plus spend some HD for healing if they can rest safely.

Aiwin hand over the paper to Tobin. He then distributes the money evenly before sitting next to Varan and putting the remaining money away for group needs "Try not to die." he says just lightly punching his friends shoulder as he looks to the rest "I tried to distribute this evenly. Figured the left over could be put away for group needs."
OOC: Everyone gets 13 gold, 6 silver, 16 copper Group pile: 1 gold, 2 silver, and 1 copper
I believe we are resting, do we want it to be long or short?
Varan takes his share of the money while he sits, leaning against the wall and tends to his wounds. "I'll try not to." He chuckles, "Did you happen to notice if any of those guys look more important than the rest?"
(I'm good with either a short or long rest.)

Be excellent to each other, and roll for initiative dudes!
Bazavur grabs his share of the coin and suggests that Varan keep track of the group funds. Seeing everyone else look like they are going to recuperate after the battle he cautions, “I don’t think we should linger longer than we must. This is enemy territory so to speak.” Bazavur continues his vigil near the portal while giving a short pep talk.
(Song of rest. If you spent any hits dice roll 1d6 and add to your total hp. I don’t think a long rest is a good idea here. Since we are trying to find a defector/mask. Who know what could happen in eight hours.)
Tobin spends 7 hd for 8d6+14 hit points recovery (+33 hp) and uses his Arcane Recovery to recover his 5th level spell slot. He uses Comprehend Languages and his fierce librarian skills to make sense of the paperwork as best he can during the rest.

Varan takes the group funds and places them in a sperate pouch, "I guess I can keep track of that." He spends some time tending to his wounds from the battle. "If we find someone that looks important, lets try to keep 'em alive... for a bit."
(Used 5 hit dice and the d6 from the song of rest to heal up 28hp.)

Tobin, you investigate the papers the cultist was holding. You find three magical scrolls, of Clairvoyance, Blur, and Longstrider. You also find handwritten notes - they're in draconic so you don't need a spell to understand the language, but they're confused, rambling, complex and difficult to make sense of. They seem mostly to contain information about dracoliches - their behaviour, abilities, and examples from history.
As you are puzzling your way through them (after about ten minutes has passed), three cultists appear in the teleport circle. Their eyes widen in shock at the sight of you.
What would you like to do?
(You have not completed your short rest by this point.)
Aiwin just grabs his bow and three arrows standing up and muttering an elvish curse as he marks the first cultist he sees and let's the arrows loose.
OOC: Movement: Half to stand up Bonus Action: moving Hunter's Mark to the newest target since its still within the hour. Attack 1: 33 (nat 20) to hit for 8 damage Hunter's Mark Damage: 6 damage Attack 2: 20 to hit for 10 damage Hunter's Mark Damage: 6 Attack 3: 26 to hit for 8 damage Hunter's Mark Damage: 4 End Turn
Bazavur immediately springs to action and slashes, twice, at the nearest cultist with his glaive. (I’m assuming we get to take actions and not reactions. 20 to hit for 7. And 24 to hit also for 7.)
Dead. Very dead.
Combat is over, and you are standing in the quiet of the room.

(Tobin would like at least a short rest. His most powerful spells are expended, so he wouldn't say no to a long rest).
Sitting cross-legged, Tobin starts shuffling through the papers after he bandages the worst of his wounds.
